Not counting custom character creators, no. I wrote autistic Link x Midna fan fiction and would have the SA2 sound test on blast while I played with Bionicles but that was it.

I remember I made a total Bunnie Rabbot ripoff called Rocket the Hedgehog or something, but I gave him missile launchers and shit. I don't think Bunnie ever had that.

I also remember writing a bunch of really autistic fanfiction of the Mega Man series. I never ended up sharing it with ANYBODY and it's lost on an old USB somewhere in one of my drawers. Maybe "fanfiction" isn't the right word to use here, but I wanted to write novels of the series I thought Capcom would give me some kind of recognition for.

I came up with some good god damn ideas too, like how when I made it to Mega Man 7 I didn't make Bass the most obviously evil motherfucker in the world and made it that Light was the one who gave him his armor and shit, he started off just looking like a helmetless black armored Mega Man in my series.

I made a Mega Man recolor called Nega Man who was half vampire half demon, but also possessed and edgy or something.

And then made a combination of Mega Man, Sponge Bob and fucking Liu Kang because i was a fucking idiot.

I did make a Sonic one when I was like 12 by tracing over body parts of characters (like Knuckles body, Cream head, Jet eyes, etc.), but threw it in the garbade the same exact day I made it. It just felt unecessary and something I was only doing because other Sonic fans did too.

well...I cant speak for the others but I grew up with the sonic games. And there just happened to come a time when I felt like having some of my own adventures in said universe. My OC(s) were made to do the things that I could never do.

I mean there are some Kirby ocs here and there but I just think people don't like messing with Zelda/Mario series. At best with Mario you can make a goomba/koopa/boo oc without too much hassle.

I made some pretty fucking autistic shit on Flipnote hatena, I think one my worst ideas was a trio of luigi fans that all wore his hat but were like different in some way? I can't remember much but I'm glad that I never did anything with it.

I think I also put a pair of headphones on a Boo and called it an original character.

There are some Mario OC's but a lot of them are even worse recolors than Sonic. As for Zelda, I never looked but I doubt you could make anything that could be definitively a Zelda OC unless it was a Zora, Deku or Goron. Otherwise it's just a charcter you made put into Zelda. Sonic has a already set up world with enough story around it to make an OC around, plus they are aren't all that hard to make and take minimal creativity.

The games and other forms of media are always filled with OCs. Just look at the three Sonic cartoons from the 90s, they have a ton of OCs in them. Just about every game brings in a new character or new characters as well. It lets people think that maybe one day, their OC will be chosen at random to be friends with Sonic, because he always has new friends. Not to mention, furries. Furries are autism incarnate.

On the other hand, Mario doesn't do any of that OC shit. For the past 30+ years, the main cast has pretty much stayed the same, being Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Bowser. Also, Mario doesn't have to deal with a ton of furries.

Aw fuck I wanted to say no but this image reminded me of when I was a kid and discovered Megaman X for the first time. I thought it was incredible that there was basically this "Megaman 2.0" type character and made up some shitty even edgier version(a "Megaman Z" if you will). The worst part is that this was when I was into DBZ and Sailor Moon and reading online about all the shit they had in Japan that was ahead of the US. I had a friend who'd visit there for family vacations etc. and he totally convinced me that "Megaman Z" actually did exist and it just hadn't gotten here yet.

Yeah, I was into Megaman at one point, but never did anything much with it. I just liked creating characters and spriting.

But god damn, I really got into Sonic. If anybody remembers Mystical Forest Zone, I was so active in the community that I was one of the mods.

Nah. Even when I was 11-13, the closest I got was ripping off Chrono Trigger's weapon classes, and magic elements. But the characters themselves existed in their own world, and were different enough not to just be goku recolored.

But around 14, I tried harder to differentiate my work from others. So all my old characters got revamped into something new and original.
