I bitterly wish they had continued the racing modification appearance upgrade for every car that was in the first game.
5 was godawful in many many ways and it killed my interest in the series. I liked GT when it was a cheesy simcade, GT5 was about as exciting as a block of styrofoam. I can't really put my finger on what they got wrong about the tone of the game, maybe it was the generic instrumental soundtrack and the zero sense of speed.
Best is a toss-up between 2 or 4 for me.
