Can we just acknowledge the fact that this dude right here is still one of the most recognizable video game characters! He hadn't had a good game since 2001!He gets mocked by everyone. He is directly responsible for chris-chan and millions of other like him!The mister"YEAH FAST SUCK MY COCK" is the first thing people think about then they think video game after mario and call-of-duty/halo man!Why is this allowed?!
Can we just acknowledge the fact that this dude right here is still one of the most recognizable video game...
>not putting spaces between your sentences
Did you copy this from something that had line breaks?
Great statements but I dont see any evidence.
you're supposed to put a space after punctuation marks
>He hadn't had a good game since 2001!
Why lie?
>He hadn't had a good game since 2009
Ftfy
>It's still been 8 years since we had a decent sonic game
Fucking kill me.
But Colors came out in 2010 and Generations came out the year after
>Boost shit
Opinion discarded
Oh you're one of those retards
>Hating the most casual and poorly designed era of a video game series makes someone a retard
Did you defend Federation Force and Zip-Lash too, you cock-inhaling faggot?
>cock-inhaling
You gotta hand it to him, that's quite a feat.
>He hadn't had a good game since 2009
You thought Black Knight was good but not Colors or Generations?
>Adventurebabby
kys
Black knight had some baller music.
Things Black Knight had that colors and Generations did not:
>A unique story involving chivalry and how doing the right thing might make you seem like a villain to others
>Unique gameplay
>Multiple playable characters
>New Crush 40 tracks
>Unique boss battles
Things Colors and Generations had that Black Knight did not:
>Better controls
>"Baldy McNoseHair"-tier stories
>Shitty boost gameplay with super splashy acceleration and physics
>Multiple playable Sonics
>Colors had some good new music, and generations had a remix of Super Sonic Racing and Sonic Boom (?)
>Rehashed boss battles
This isn't up for debate.
Yeah, but I means, name a Sonic game (BESIDES CHRONICLES) that didn't have a good-ass soundtrack.
I'm a classicfag, cunt. Doesn't mean I don't think the GC/PS2 era was better than boost shit.
(You)
If we're talking OST, then Generations. Otherwise, Free Riders is pretty trash. People hate Spinball too, but I kinda like it.
Not an argument
>This isn't up for debate
It kind of is, considering a vast portion of the Sonic fanbase and nearly all reviewers agree that Colors and Generations absolutely eclipse Black Knight.
I haven't played Black Knight so I won't make judgement, but to say that Black Knight is just objectively better seems dumb as fuck.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who really didn't mind the Chronicles soundtrack. It's not stellar or anything, but I just never thought it was terrible. Maybe I'll have to play through it again.
Say what you will about Sonic but he's recognizable because his design is so great. It's simple, striking, and you immediately understand what he's like as soon as you see him.
That's why characters like Sonic and Pikachu stick with even normalfags who don't play video games.
The biggest issues with Black Knght were wagglan and the fact that it was on-rails. I think it would have been a much better game if it played in a vein similar to Shadow the Hedgehog.
>Trusting reviews
You know, OP, you're supposed to put spaces between sentences.
Do people not like Rush now?
Reviews and sales are the only metrics we can really use to pit games up against each other in a way that removes our own feelings from the equation. There are flaws in the review system but at the end of the day, it's either that or two assholes sit here all fucking day stroking their cock over why THEIR game of choice is OBJECTIVELY better somehow.
Which I imagine will happen anyway, but hey, at least I tried. Sonic Colors sold better and on average reviewed better. The guy saying Black Knight was better and that it "wasn't up for debate" is wrong on at least some level.
There were always people who didn't like Rush. For the record I thought it was great, albeit far too short for my liking (but that's the nature of Sonic I suppose)
>He hadn't had a good game since 2001!
Did you miss 2008, 2010 and 2011?
Rush always had a bad rep, as far as I know. It was the game that sparkled the Dimps hate in the fanbase.
Let us not forgot 2004's Sonic Heroes, and the racing games by Sumo Digital.
This thread fucking sucks. Post favorite Sonic Heroes tracks instead.
(You) sure showed him, user!
>Sonic Heroes
>Good
lol
desu I only like Sonic Heroes when I play the Team Sonic campaign, the others are basically worse versions of it.
What is the best sonic game of all time? Are the "open world" ones regarded as usually better?
What? There are no open world Sonic games user. What are you talking about?
I've never liked it. I didn't like Advance 2 or Advance 3 either.
Advance 3 had lots of potential - cool team system, great music and the zone ideas were neat - it's a shame the level layouts/designs were so bizarrely terrible
He's talking about the ones with Hub Worlds. Could have worded that better.
Sonic Adventure. Tail's Adventure, sorta. I don't know if that shitty Bioware RPG counts or not.
>He hadn't had a good game since 2001!
I M P L Y I N G
The syntax of this post makes me angry. Never make a fucking thread again.
>Can we just acknowledge the fact that this dude right here is still one of the most recognizable video game characters!
No, it's Mario.
>People hate Spinball
impossible
youtu.be
youtu.be
>one of
>What is the best sonic game of all time?
Funnily enough, Shadow the Hedgehog. The Adventure games are tied for a close second.
I'm always surprised how much people give a shit about Sonic. Like... I played one Sonic game in my life. It was ok. But all this fanbase, hate, jerking, fanfics... holy shit.
How people even get an inspiration for that?
How young generation managed to get infected with this assburger?
Why in the hell people care about decent platformer from years ago (which wasn't even the best during its generation).
Reminder that Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles are two separate games.
I'm sorry you can't comprehend the concept of people enjoying things.
I need to get this off my chest here.
IS ELISE'S THEME FROM SONIC 06 A GUILTY PLEASURE FOR ANYONE ELSE?
>>Better controls
The only thing that matters in a speed-based game is having good controls.
>He hadn't had a good game since 2001
Colors
Generations
Rush Adventure
The boat sections ruin Rush Adventure. Although I do think not counting them, it is the best of the Rush games.
Well, if I were talking to somebody who had never played Sonic before and they wanted recommendations to get into the series, I'd probably separate the games like this:
Absolute must-plays
>Sonic 2 (Taxman)
>Sonic 3 & Knuckles
You'll probably like these too
>Sonic 1 (Taxman)
>Sonic Advance 1 and 2
>Sonic Rush
>Sonic Colors (Wii)
>Sonic Generations (not the 3DS version)
Still very good but much more polarizing in the fanbase
>Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 (Original DC international release of SA if possible)
>Sonic Unleashed (PS360)
>Sonic Rush Adventure
>Sonic CD (Taxman)
Might be good for novelty, tread lightly here
>Sonic 3D Blast
>The 8-bit Sonic games (excluding Sonic Blast and Labyrinth)
>Sonic Pocket Adventure
>Sonic Advance 3
>Knuckles Chaotix
>Sonic Heroes
You probably shouldn't bother
>Anything else
I haven't included non-platformers in the list because we could go on all day if I started including stuff like the racing games. I've tried to separate my own feelings from the equation but obviously there's always going to be some level of bias.
>All this people defending generations as a good game
Music was 10/10 but that's it.
2D sections are worse versions of their respective originals and 3D sections control terribly
All that I meant by that was that Black Knight had motion control. If you emulate it, you can just map that to a button instead, so it's not that big of a flaw. Playing Black Knight with a GC controller is amazing.
>Seriously implying that Shadow the Hedgehog isn't worth playing
It has arguably the best music, level design, and gameplay of the entire franchise.
My nigga.
...
...
This, sadly.
Really look at all the Sonic games and you'll realize that Shadow is unironically one of the most playable titles. Sure, its edge can be a little cringey, but at least it's a finished game. Can't even saw that about all the other games.
I'm just going to repost this from the last time you tried this shit and hope to god that nobody else takes you up on your bait:
>"It's the same deal with Sonic 3... Sonic 3 is literally half a game" - Yuji Naka
>"I was the designer of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but my favorite is still Sonic 2" - Takashi Iizuka
>"Sonic 3 (also called Sonic & Knuckles) was a lot of fun, but it was also very difficult" - Roger Hector
>"The original Sonic 3 game was very aggressive in its scope. Massive really. So after getting started working on it, it was decided to split it in half" - Roger Hector
>"I think my favorite [track I worked on for Generations] is Sky Sanctuary. Sonic 3 and Knuckles was the first title I was involved in the creation for, and it is nostalgic for me" - Jun Senoue
There's no debate. Sonic 3 & Knuckles is two cartridges commercially, but artistically, design-wise, and to everybody who ever worked on it, it is considered as one game, was mostly built under the premise of being one game, and is currently sold as such on digital services like Steam. So it's both one game and two really, but if we're comparing which Sonic game is better, or if you're sitting down on a rainy sunday afternoon to play a Sonic game, there's no reason NOT to just cut the bullshit and treat them as one game as the artists originally intended. It's a unique situation in the games industry so comparing it to games like Half-Life 2, Pokemon Red/Blue, or whatever else is a false equivalence.
stop samefagging
>A unique story involving chivalry and how doing the right thing might make you seem like a villain to others
sonicfags will defend this
This thread is a fucking mess.
>Iizuka prefers 2 over 3K
He really is such a massive shitter.
Sounds like Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. Basically 2 halves of the same game.
Anyone got that comic where the one guy assumes that if two people disagree with him they must be one?
Probably not even samefagging. There are honest-to-God pockets of people who have now started to consider Sonic 2006 to be a flawed masterpiece that could've been tits if it had only gotten 6 months more development time. A guy in this very thread defended Sonic Chronicles' music.
It wouldn't surprise me if in the next few months, people will come out of the woodwork and start praising Sonic Labyrinth as an underrated classic. I don't know if any of these people are shitposting or if the Sonic fanbase really has just gotten this weird.
So guys, what are your opinions on the advance trilogy? Should I bother with it?
Don't bother with getting the Chaos Emeralds and you'll be fine.
It's not bait you knob-slobbering double nigger.
>Controls are precise while not being as twitchy as SA2 (which I didn't see as a problem but apparently a lot of people did because they couldn't git gud)
>There's a wide range of movement options (possibly the widest in the series)
>The acceleration is almost perfect and doesn't feel splashy like newer installments
>All of the music is very good (The Westopolis music gets tiring after a while though)
>Branching story paths
>Most unique stages in a Sonic game
>Tied with Heroes (and maybe Adventure 2, depending on personal tastes) for best voice acting
>You can kill the fucking president
All I really wish it had was an ice stage, but even without it it's still a top-notch game.
There are people who think Sonic 2006 is the best game ever because of its love story and 2deep4u plot, and they've been around since the game came out.
>Advance 1 is great, classic stuff
>Advance 2 is decent, if you're a classicfag then it won't hold up to 1, but if you're a speedfag it'll far surpass it
>Advance 3 has some cool concepts, good music, the neat team system but the level design is a trainwreck
>They all have dogshit for Special Stages
Personally if I were you I'd play them all for completions sake. Just don't expect too much out of 3.
I was on your side until this last line. YOU CAN'T KILL THE FUCKING PRESIDENT.
...
Recognizable? Yes.
Good? No, never.
>not for resale
I love it.
>The games fanbase grew up and became productive members of society
I mean I know this is a shitpost, but...
haha
Not him but don't you kill him in Air Fleet? I never really go through the "Destroy moving object" missions unless I have the Shadow Rifle.
Okay you really are baiting now but just in case.
>Controls are precise while not being as twitchy as SA2
They're just a slippery as they were in Heroes, hell maybe even worse
>There's a wide range of movement options (possibly the widest in the series)
Is this a joke? The Spin Dash in Shadow is absolute ass and gives you almost no speed. You have the triangle jump from Heroes and the homing attack that's in every game and that's pretty much it.
>The acceleration is almost perfect and doesn't feel splashy like newer installments
See the first game, it's too loose like in Heroes
>Branching story paths
The only good thing about Shadow but even then it isn't done as well as Shadowfags like to think it is. The cutscenes can make no sense because Sonic Team didn't bother to adjust them according to your route and reminder that you have to play the game 10 FUCKING TIMES for the last story.
>Tied with Heroes (and maybe Adventure 2, depending on personal tastes) for best voice acting
It was the first game with the 4kids voice actors and they were AWFUL in it. They got better over time, but they were definitely not good in Shadow.
>You can kill the fucking president
Yeah that's what I want in a Sonic game.
You injure him, not kill him.
>reminder that you have to play the game 10 FUCKING TIMES for the last story.
Just like how Sonic Generations had you play each level twice? God, you're stupid.
>Just like how Sonic Generations had you play each level twice?
You don't...?
>Sonic Labyrinth
Classicfag here, it wasn't THAT bad. It was experimental at best. Sonic Blast is the bad one.
...
Acts 1 and Acts 2 are different due to one being Classic and one being Modern. Shadow's levels are the exact same thing every time.
Also, none of it matters in the end. Last Story is the canon ending, all other endings are false. You go through the game ten times to have all of your work invalidated.
Are you referring to the bonus acts you need to play for the boss key? You know you don't have to pick the ghost race one, right?
It's worth playing for the branching storylines.
Why another game hasn't done something similar is beyond me.
It's obvious you're baiting, but in case anyone believes you, Shadow has multiple objectives for each stage, and it has branching stages.
I bet you also believe in the wage gap for men and women.
>I bet you also believe in the wage gap for men and women
>bringing politics into a Sonic thread
can you not
>multiple objectives for each stage
And most of these are fucking terrible.
>and it has branching stages
It does but it squashes all the positives from this by only letting you get one ending from a final stage. Which means you have to take a very similar route to get back to that same final stage just to choose the different ending which is fucking retarded and ruins most of the good things that come from branching paths.
Level design is the exact same no matter what you do. And thanks to said design oftentimes you MUST destroy your own allies to advance.
>Shadow has multiple objectives for each stage
Yeah, kill all of one side, turn on all defense systems, and collect all of object in all twenty stages is the pinnacle of awesome design.
He's not wrong, though. That is an unique concept for a Sonic story, the story itself just isn't as god-tier as he thinks it is.
>facts
>but thats wrong because opinions
5/10 got me to reply
So you're argument is just that it's good because multiple objectives and branching stages exist and you're not even going to bother to consider the execution of these mechanics, just that their mere existence makes the game good? That's not how works.
I never said it was good, I just stated a fact and you tried to dismiss it because "it isnt even good"
