>need to install a tool to map my standard Xbox360 controller
>will probably be baffled for half of the game because of shitty button prompts, when trying to execut non-basic moves
Should I even bother? I'm so close to just playing Darksiders II or Castlevania: Lords of Shadows instead.

>this is what pcfags have to deal with.
Emulate the ps2 version like a normal human being
>complain about having to put effort to get it to run
>"just put in effort into this other option user"
>buy dmc collection for ps3
>put the game in
>play it
Don't forget about having to specifically set its graphics up in your GPU's control software and having to launch it through some sort of second .exe with command prompt.
D-delete it!
If you think using an emulator is effort, perhaps console gaming is more your style.
Dude how the fuck are you even breathing?
Isn't that like a lot of effort too?
The PS2 version look like shit even at 4x internal resolution.
We told you dog, we warned you about pc version bro!!!
Because breathing is something humans do automatically
If not we'd die in our sleep
I remember saying fuck it and actually Bought this game on steam together with dmc4. I buy games like, once per 3 years.
I swear it took me 3 hours to get it to play. You also forgot to mention the Lack of 16:9.
Seriously, PC gaming is nice and all, but the ammount of troubleshooting i have done these past 10 years makes me question if it's worth it.
My emulator experience with anything that isn't a GBA emulator is pretty shit.
But if you are telling me it runs flawlessy and supports an XBox360 controller without any issued I'd be willing to try it.
That's just a short version, you have to apply a bunch of other fixes. People on ther forums are talking about "several hours to get it to work".
To answer your question, yes, DMC3 is still on my top 10 games of all time.
Only for pre-2007 ports
Yes it's worth it*
Dolphin is the best emulator on the planet.
PCSX2 isn't as good but it's decent.
Dude I got it working in less than 1 hour
Literally git gud
>got it working in less than 1 hour
Is that supposed to be a plus point for this game?
Going back to vanilla DMC3 after 4 feels so weird and restrictive, even though 3 is overall a better game
Even with the widescreen fix?
Yeah
I feel sorry for this new generation of gamers who can't do anything if it's not a single shiny button on steam
what
you install the game, config your pad like you have to do in pretty much every game on any platform, and then play?
You want to install mods on top and then bitch about the effort? maybe fucking don't then? for performance reasons, are you shitting me? I can't think of any bugs that need fixing either
it's a perfectly fine port and doesn't need any magic to run
Yeah but, how did you get so good at troubleshooting games on PC? Just like me i would guess. Thankfully PC gaming has improved a lot these past 5 years. Nobody should go through what you, me and millions of others went through with pc gaming. I feel sorry for us and happy for them. They don't know how bad PC gaming really can be.
>config your pad like you have to do in pretty much every game on any platform
What? You do know that you need 3rd party softwtare to make the game even recognize an official 360 controller, right? And THEN map it accordingly wiht a guide someone posted on Steam or just trial and error til you get it right.
>It's a perfectly fine port
You lost me
>not simply getting a ps2 slim with a chip installed and buying a pack of 100 writable dvds for $20 from newegg so you can paly all the games you want.
Well you shitters, I played it, used an xbox360 pad, that was ages ago and it was so easy to set up I don't recall having to do anything at all.
Like it's possible I had to enable my standard joy2key xbox360 layout or something but that's not really work by any stretch. At the point where you talk about mods and editing .inis to get it to work you're doing something wrong
>not available on ps4
NEVER EVER NIIIIIGGER
>But if you are telling me it runs flawlessy and supports an XBox360 controller without any issued I'd be willing to try it.
On an emulator? Nah, not at all. D3D backend doesn't render the HUD at all, OGL backend does but I think you have to tweak some settings, also OGL backend is practically unusable on AMD GPUs so hope you have Nvidia if you're going down that road. And it'll require a stronger PC than the Steam port would. Also PCSX2 is a piece of shit with input lag, I mean I guess DMC3 is still somewhat playable but rhythm games are suffering.
So what do you guys think about the DMC4 Special Edition for 12 bucks?
Pirate the original release unless you want the extras from the SE
>config your pad like you have to do in pretty much every game on any platform
wat
Xbox 360 controller is literally plug and play with fitting button prompts on any game that isn't shit.
It's great, definitely worth it if you enjoyed the original. Unfortunately the Special Edition didn't include any of the levels that got left on the cutting room floor so if you were annoyed about playing through the same game twice then you'll still have the same issue. Lady, Trish and Vergil all have their own unique gameplay style so you'll get a lot of worth from that.
yes, but only the highest caliber dimwits are content using the default button layout
step one, crank up the graphic options, step two, do tutorial level, step three, config your pad because the standard controls are terrible
At this point you might as well get a second hand PS2 and an original copy of the game. Probably isn't even that expensive.
doesn't support HDMI or VGA so you can't hook it up to a monitor unless you use shitty adapters that introduce input lag
I forget that most people live in the 21st century and don't still have CRTs. I really need to sort my stuff out.
>only the highest caliber dimwits are content using the default button layout
I don't think I've ever run in a game where the default button layout was terrible. Sure, some games have X and other the A as their confirmation button, but nothing you can't get used to.
that's because you're a pleb
I bet you think coke light tastes just fine
Are you guna explain what's wrong with the default?
Coke light tastes like ass. Don't group me with those faggots.
ikr, somewhen down the line flatscreen monitors and tvs became the norm, not the hot new thing, I just recently came across that realization too
I'm still not ready to accept that mobile phone nowadays means "small computer that fits in your pocket and can connect to the internet from anywhere and has a touchscreen and can do fucking anything and costs as little as 50 bucks and literally every fucking body on the planet owns one"
There is 0 reason to play the original release
There are certain techniques that aren't feasible when your gunshots are on the face buttons, and you only have one finger to press the face buttons.
Some people map gunfire to shoulders.
Some people map the style button to shoulders.
When you're playing the game normally, it doesn't matter, though. Only hyper autists care.
You should always find something that's more comfortable for you personally, and should spend the time looking for it, for your own pleasure. The default layout is usually just one out of a hundred that the devs deemed good, where the largest sum of testers did not complain. Most modern games come with multiple default settings, all of which hit the spot with different people, the LEAST you can do is try all of those. Not to mention the need to set sensitivity, inverted camera movement and stuff.
If a game never makes you hit up the controls menu, chances are, it's a pretty damn simple game. Or you like eating up whatever is set before you no questions asked
>Playing Devil May Fart
>Not having Crapcop on your blacklist
Kys normie.
I do RG/switch cancelling just fine with the default setup if that's what you're talking about.
DELET YOU FUCKING GOY
>might play Castlevania LOS or Darksiders 2 instead
Holy shit no
>beat the game a decade ago using keyboard only, with 20 fps and no mods
>see some kid on Sup Forums whine that he has to install a couple mods to get the same game to playable state
Do i have to blame millennials or something?
>worst girl
No user, you are the pleb.
ps4 plays doesn't have to deal with this because the game is not available for them
