How do we save Paper Mario?

it doesn't need saving

now you can stop shitposting

We could have gotten a TTYD style game with an origami mechanic or something for solving puzzles. Imagine using the touch pad for action commands in battle. That could have been a launch title and a system seller for Christ's sake.

Crossover with Yokai Watch

Drop the self aware papercraft shit and bring back actual battles and partners.

In short, 64 and TTYD again.

Take inspiration from Zelda 2.
>top-scrolling overworld, side-scrolling interiors and random battles
>real-time combat with some simple RPG elements

Recycle him.

>unironically wanting a rehash

Put TTYD on Eshop at switch launch

FRIENDLY REMINDER:

We bring back the different characters and interesting stories. The gameplay doesn't need to be an RPG but should still be be fun, not like sticker star or color splash. They also need to tone down the paper theme a bit. The original games just used the paper as backdrop with some skills and jokes, the new games take it way too far

That niche has been taken by the M&L series also whoever it is Tanabe and Kuda? Kudo? Whatever, wanted to move away from RPGs years ago.

>it doesn't need saving

This. The series is good enough already, just the latest entry is criminally underappreciated.

>Wanting Sticker Star 3
>Being on the wrong side of history

Shiggydiggydoodah

>we

They already said they were finished with the Sticker Star/Color Splash formula after Color Splash released.

The next game is going to be something entirely new which will be interesting. Whereas you just want the first two games ad infinitum.

wow, that was surprisingly well-synced

>>we

We kill the Miyamoto.

Developers NOT listening to Miyamoto is how we got Super Mario Odyssey.

The man is old as fuck and has no place in the industry anymore. He ruined Paper Mario, he ruined Star Fox. Do not let him ruin more.

Super Paper Mario 2

>wuz

>They already said they were finished with the Sticker Star/Color Splash formula after Color Splash released.

Sauce? I'm happy with a few mixups to the formula and I at least respected SS for trying something different, but I feel the series should at least retain its core gameplay principles at heart.

But Shiggy is becoming less protective of his IPs in his old age.

Star fox was already ruined

Make a game with the kind of structure and writing as the first two but improve on the mechanics and come up with some unique scenarios. It's not rocket science.

Though, I am gonna say, Colour Splash is probable the best one since TTYD.

put him in Smash Bros

What would his moveset even be?

How? I though CS was honestly one of the most boring, slow and tedious game I've played in the last ten years.

He didn't "ruin" paper Mario. You autist. 97% of the staff that worked on the original and ttyd left before SPM came out. Intelligent systems,s fucked up. They didn't understand what he meant when he said "use characters from the Mario universe"

>we need to change a formula that was already perfecty fine
Nintendrones at least conceal your cocksucking.

>one of the most boring, slow and tedious game
sounds like a paper mario game

In terms of writing, setting and situations it was... getting there. It's no TTYD or 64, the sticker based combat is still a bad idea, giving Paper Mario a levelbased structure still doesn't do it any good and the characterdesign is still lazy but it's considerably better than Sticker Star and I like it more than Super (Which, to be fair, I never liked all that much to begin with.)

Again, there's a huge gap in quality between the first two and everything that came afterwards but CS was a pretty big step in the right direction.

>Go back to the Thousand Year Door style of gameplay

of

>Stop making Paper Mario games

Simple

I see your point. The writing was snappy enough to keep me going for the most part but the gameplay was almost insultingly contrived.

Press F and accept your fate

Color Trash got exactly the reception it deserved

>Different characters
>Interesting stories

Color Splash had both, jackass. I would say the Shy Guy sequence on the train is the most poignant section in any Mario game ever, and Color Splash is filled with creative ideas like that.

>make 64/TTYD style game
>OMG THEY'RE REHASHING THE SAME GAME WTF

>make a different type of game
>OMG JUST GO BACK TO TTYD AND LISTEN TO YOUR FANS

Hello Cody

Let Miyamoto retire first

Just bring back the old style of gameplay from what I heard

>That niche has been taken by the M&L series

No it fucking hasn't, M&L is a facerolling arcade game by comparison.

He told them to change the entire gameplay premise because "it's just a port huehue".

>Shiggy got cucked out of the President position

Even the shareholders don't want him around anymore.

>>make 64/TTYD style game
>>OMG THEY'RE REHASHING THE SAME GAME WTF

This never happened and you know it.

No he didn't, he said it felt like the same game, which already shows they were creatively dead meaning it would've been a bad game regardless, but Tanabe just took it too far.

>wants something entirely different for paper mario
>is perfectly content to ship out the exact same game 6 times

Interesting story
Open world
Charismatic characters and companions
Funny Adult dialogues
In other words , TTYD

By making good Paper Mario games and not shit ones.
