How big of a role do the NJPW guys have?
The literally who chinese prince heir to chinatown they introduce in this game. The entire story is CHINA CHINA CHINA I LOVE CHINA BTW DID I SAY I LOVE CHINA PLEASE CHINA YOU'RE THE BEST LOVE CHINA the game.
is it genuinely her son?
Yes.
Kek is this why Japs hate the game? Good to know the game isn't actually shit and it's just because the japs have an irrational hate of the Chinese
And to add to this, the guy in question is the one in top right corner of that poster image in the OP.
The Iwata lookalike (the one on the left in top row) is the final boss.
Kitano doesn't even do anything import in this game and is rargely irrelevant to the story.
No user.
The gameplay is butchered and it has smaller Kamurocho than Yakuza 1.
Imagine Yakuza 1 Kamurcho.
Now take out the hotel district.
And the underground.
And the purgatory (park).
And all stores except 2 which are copypasted throughout the entire game.
And remove most of the minigames/side activities.
And make combat almost the worst in the franchise, superior only to Yakuza 1.
And make music legitimately bad due to being completely forgettable.
The game is quite legit ass.
important*
Fucking hell too sleepy.
But the game is shit, the combat system feels like downgrade from 5 let alone 0.
Haruka a CHING CHONGED
>rargely
To elaborate on why combat is bad:
They completely removed all of Kiryu's moveset that he built up since Y1, he has brand new moveset entirely that's basically a shitty street thug type of combat with more focus on punches and less kicking, no styles or style switching.
Kiryu's initial moveset is basically just 3 button moves (light light light/heavy heavy heavy and variation of them).
There's only like 10 move upgrades in total, basically same amount as Y1 roughly.
The lock on is as broken as in Y1, aka doesn't really work at all.
Seamless combat transition works against the game with both framerate and actual hitboxes making the combat floaty and unresponsive with 0 impact behind your attacks. The exaggerated ragdolls don't help either.
The framerate is abysmal, running on average at about 25 FPS with MASSIVE screentearing on PS4 despite being a 900p game. On PS4 Pro you get 1080p and and 4K checkerboard modes, out of which the first one looks and runs quite smooth and has no tearing, while the second runs basically just as bad as the 900p on regular PS4. All of this makes the game an unresponsive chore to play if you ain't got a PS4 Pro and don't stick to the performance mode. Did I mention it's locked at 30 FPS even on Pro?
Feel free to ask me more.
I'm sleepy man give me a break.
It's a shame to hear 6 isn't supposed to be good.
0 is the first one I played through and it's my favorite game of the year so far, and prefer it to all games released last year.
Guess I'll just play through 5 after instead.
>CHINA CHINA CHINA I LOVE CHINA BTW DID I SAY I LOVE CHINA PLEASE CHINA YOU'RE THE BEST LOVE CHINA
It's post like these that make me realize people love to talk about games they didn't play.
Quite a far cry from Yakuza 3 then.
>irrational
Haha fuck you chink.
You really, REALLY should play through the entire series.
Or at the very least, play 4 before playing 5 because entirely of 5 rolls off stuff established in 4.
5 just doesn't work without playing 4.
>I'm sleepy man give me a break.
It made me laugh.
did they really remove heat actions?
You started with the game that pretty much perfected the gameplay to greater heights my man, it only goes down from there, the only thing you can enjoy in other Yakuza titles is the plot now.
The entire plot drama is about the ownership of Chinatown and Haruka getting CHINKED, how the fuck is it not China pandering? The series sells far better in China than Japan nowadays which is why SEGA decided to pander to China full-on with this game. I obviously didn't mean the storyline itself literally being about loving China, only that it revolves around Chinkshit and Chink pandering.
The only problem is 2, since I could get Kiwami, 3, 4 and 5 on PS3/PS4.
>sony exclusive
>The lock on is as broken as in Y1, aka doesn't really work at all.
But why? Why would they regress so hard?
Yes and no, there's a new Heat system now that's basically seamless in-combat QTE.
The combat isn't what's drawing me in, it's fun but I don't want to fight every thug I see.
I'm really digging the plot, the tone and also the karaoke and disco.
There was that HD remake of Yakuza 1 and 2 for the Wii U, but since it sold like dung even in Japan, Sega never bothered bringing it Westward.
Yes, I'm still annoyed, not because of the Wii U exclusivity (I'm an idort and couldn't care less about that shit), but because I wanted to play HD Yakuza 2.
Because it's a new engine and they were clearly on a development time limit enforced by SEGA higher ups.
That's the entire problem, it's a new engine with new technology and they had 0 time to learn how to adapt to all of it and make a proper game with it.
Why the flying fuck didn't they do a spinoff game with it first to learn the ropes like they did with Kenzan and Ishin is beyond my comprehension.
>WiiU
It wasn't a WiiU exclusive and the WiiU version was inferior to the PS3 version of the HD port user.
PS3 HD collection of Y1+Y2 was 1080p + 4x MSAA at 60 FPS.
WiiU one is 720p, no AA, 30 FPS and supposedly has some bugs too.
So play it on the PS3, I don't know why you think the HD collection is Wii U exclusive because it's not.
You could, you know, emulate.
buildbot.orphis.net
OK, thanks for the correction there. You got me.
...But now that makes even less sense why Sega didn't bring it over.
I'm still gonna buy it just for Beat Takeshi. He plays a killer or something?
Don't give a fuck about Haruka so chinaman ntr doesn't affect me.
I'm aware that Zero and Kiwami are most likely the series swan song. Will be nice to have one less reason not to commit suicide.
>haruka is impure
What a terrible reality we live in...
That's old settings btw, newer settings here.
Use the new ones and only use the old ones if the new don't work for you. Meant to post the new settings first but messed up.
And people thinks Majima's LIs being halfblood filthy whores is ok.
Kugimiya Rie was getting too old to do anything other than the occasional Shana and Rise reprise, so no reason to keep Haruka pure, I guess.
Not him but whats LIs?
>But now that makes even less sense why Sega didn't bring it over.
It came out just before 5 if I remember right and 5 got localized at the tail end of the PS3's life. Look at how much effort it took just to get 0 over, people weren't even hopeful for Kiwami or 6 to get localized. Chances are any money they'd spend localizing the HD collection wouldn't recouped as 5 itself didn't sell massive amounts despite all the petitioning.
Still muh purityfags.
Makoto was half chink, Mirei is half gook.
They did confirm that 5 made a profit if that helps. That's why they even bothered to give us 0.
So while 5 didn't make gorillion and such, it turning in profit and covering up the costs of the work that into it made it still a worthy niche to pursue. That's why we're getting rest of the non-spinoff series. 0 sold really well I hear since a lot of newfags bought it.
Oh, you mean Majima's ex waifus then.
He's barely even in the game.
>purity
Not even why it's shit. Kiryu's locked up so what Haruka decided to do after permanently ruining her & Kiryu's public reputations/lives at the end of 5 is ditch the orphanage and get knocked up by some thug in a one-night stand? Said thug later displaying that he doesn't really have much of an idea of how sex even works at that. Feels kinda like a joke really.
Why? Saejima and Akiyama don't have much impact on the story.
The main story is for Kiryu and Haruka (and Shinada as a nice side-story).
But yeah, it's a good idea to play Yakuza 4. The main story goes full retard at the end, but the sub-stories are one of the best in the series. You just need to use a guide to find them.
Because 5 expects you to know and care about these characters and why they're here doing the things they're doing all of which (except Haruka's importance) is built up in 4.
That's good news, but it makes sense as to why they didn't bother bringing over the HD as the PS3 was already on the tail end of its life and they probably would just barely break even on localization costs. Chances are they just didn't want to take that risk and took it on 0 instead. 5 was already a huge gamble to begin with.
why is 6 considered shit
Who would know that when you localize a game with good nonchildish plots admist trash like ff15 the game would sell?
Oh I'm aware why HD collection didn't come over, I'm not the guy who asked why it didn't. Also stop attentionwhoring with a trip that's not relevant to the discussion.
Read the thread, literally first couple of posts have the answer.
Any good phone Apps to learn Mahjong? All I'm seeing is the matching simple Mahjong.
I'm going to be out of the US for a few months with little to no Internet and want to step my Mahjong game up so when I come back I can fuck up those last few challenges I need.
EOPs being surprised that the game doesn't have as much content as games that reused previous iteration's assets
>why they're here doing the things they're doing
Akiyama and Saejima are in the game because they have very popular VAs. That's pretty much it.
Hunting sidequest is fun, but Saejima's whole role is pretty bullshit. Why is he escaping prison AGAIN?
>that guy samefagging about Yakuza 6 every thread
The game is a slightly better Yakuza 3. It's a downgrade from Yakuza 0, yes, but the game is still nice.
It's just like GTA 4 - because of the new engine, some shit were removed from GTA: SA.
They will probably fix it with Yakuza 7.
I
Oh yeah one more thing regarding combat I forgot to mention.
You can't even finish combos because blocking now completely interrupts combos, so the second an enemy blocks it staggers you and your combo is reset.
This is so bad that by the end of the game it's legitimately better to just pick up a bike and mash enemies with it because it's the only good way to deal guaranteed damage due to combos being nigh impossible to pull off.
The music is better than Kiwami that's for sure. Everything else is spot on.
6 HAS NO REPLAY VALUE WHATSOEVER.
yeah this
fuck this game so much
they need to take a fucking break
Fuck mahjong.
>6
>better than 3
No, you just went full shitpost.
Well I was mostly talking about music from perspective of the series, we all know Kiwami raped Y1's soundtrack with those godawful remixes.
You summoned and Akagi answered.
Also reminder that Akagi is confirmed to end next year.
Maybe for Akiyama (he was in Y5 for 5 seconds anyway), but why Saejima?
His story in Yakuza 4 was just silly and I can't take him seriously after that. RUBBA BULLETS.
Yakuza 0 really had the best main story in a while.
Who the fuck approved some of Kiwami's soundtrack?
Some songs are good but
>Funk goes on
>ID
>For who's sake
>All raped for WUB WUB.
>some shit were removed from GTA: SA.
They will probably fix it with Yakuza 7.
It's a lot more than just "some shit" though and the trailers are completely misleading people when talking about it's big seamless world. The "world" is extremely tiny compared to almost all the games and it's not that seamless due to framerate issues.
How exactly is Kiwami's "For Who's Sake" bad? I think it's a perfect recreation. It doesn't even have wub and you don't know what wub is if you think it does.
youtube.com
Funk Goes On got raped the hardest though without a shadow of a doubt.
Just compare this: youtube.com

Kenzan and 5 were built from scratch including new engines within a similar dev time span and didn't feel as barebones as 6 does, to be fair.
Wait wasn't 5's engine just 4's? Which had Ishin to go off of?
5 didn't have a new engine, it still uses the same engine they made with Kenzan. 5 only had a new renderer.
All the games from Kenzan to 0 use the same engine, with only the renderer being upgraded in 5.
6 is actual new engine much like Kenzan was.
>Kenzan and 5 were built from scratch including new engines
Wrong
Ishin came out after 5.
He's only wrong about 5, Kenzan was brand new engine.
Kenzan is small
That's awful. I especially feel sorry for Majima's ex-wife. Yeah, yeah, gook and all that, but she poured her heart and soul into Haruka's career. Much was made especially in the latter part of 5 about Haruka's final performance honoring her memory.
And then Haruka throws it all away in one masterstroke, runs off, and gets knocked up, and by a loser if the other Anons in the thread are to be believed. That's just fucked up, man.
So is 6. Smallest and most barebones Kamurocho in franchise history.
Oh. Sorry. But I know 5's was just 4's engine at the very least.
That nigga looking away in the upper right
The baby shouldve been someone else's and Haruka decided to care for it, making it a mirror to how Kiryu protected her in Y1, but they decided to go in a terrible route with it all and have her actually be the mother.
So I've only played some of 0, is Majima in the later games, or just in 0?
I think everyone expected it to be someone elses child with Haruka only caring for it, but the plot twist is actually that there is no twist and they're playing it completely straight with it really being her child.
It's not bad but it has unnecessary noises not needed.
Oh and there is this track.
youtube.com
He's in every game in the series in some form be it a boss or cameo but only playable in 0 and the zombie spinoff called Dead Souls.
He's in pretty much all of them.
His actual plot importance varies however.
Young Kiryu looks so wrong wearing his series signature outfit. He really looks better in the white suit when young.
Can someone give me a quick rundown on the Yakuza games and what games I should play, and which I should avoid? I'm at chapter 4 now in Yakuza 4 and I just bought Zero.
He's in all of them including the spinoffs. He's a major character but sometimes he's only there for one or two chapters, other times he's around for the entire game at random points.
You should play all of them and there are no skippable games, the only legitimate excuse you have for not playing the spinoffs is not knowing Japanese.
6 is pretty bad though and I wouldn't blame anyone for skipping it.
Also you should've started with 1, but 4 is the second best entry point for normies that can't handle PS2.
Just wait for ps4 remaster of original this summer
Play them all and avoid 6.
E G G R O L L E D
>two copies of 3
>two copies of 4
But why tho.
Well I've heard that the writer was seeking to piss everyone off which is why it was Haruka's child
I can't even imagine how some of the Japanese fans must have felt especially the ones who started with the first game way back in 2005.
>the only legitimate excuse you have for not playing the spinoffs is not knowing Japanese.
That's not even an excuse for Kenzan or Ishin as KHHSubs' guide is more than enough to get you to do all of the main story and understand it. Black Panther is the only spinoff out of the lot that you can't really play as an English speaker yet.
Any backstory as to why 6 is so bad?

>Well I've heard that the writer was seeking to piss everyone off which is why it was Haruka's child
I played the first game twice for the first time back this past summer, and even I would be fucking mad. They sure as shit got me.
I know why 6 is bad but how did the dev team flub it that badly is what I'm asking. I explicitly used the term ''backstory''
The writer supposedly wanted to piss people off on purpose and SEGA wanted new audience with China since the games got more popular there while they're on the decline in Japan and have been for a while.
New engine and there was a deadline.
Got one copy of Yakuza 4 for free.
I like Yakuza 3. See what was cut from the western version.
It feels like a chore to play. Combat ain't as great as the previous games. Exploring feels empty. Some new minigames are useless and have no replay value apart from Virtua Fighter 5, sea fishing and baseball.
>The writer supposedly wanted to piss people off on purpose
Seems like common practice in Japan currently.
