20 years later

>20 years later
>still the best game of all time

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?!?!

because your standards plateaued in middle school?

thats not even the best RPG on PSX

Brave Fenser Musashi is far better

Didn't even like it until last week.

I Love it but found it to be a one playthrough only game like most turn based games.

>menu clicking
>best game

FF VII is a fine game, but I hopened someone that wold think this has a small pool of experiences in games to pick from to think this.

>best game of all time
stop shitposting.

so you're still in middle school then.

>that guy you know that says he likes IX better than VII probably because he wants to appear higher than the masses of casuals that love VII but when you ask him why he thought it was better than VII he starts stumbling around his words and can't make any legitimate response
Get fucked you contrarian fags

10 > 8 > 7

I mean it's pretty good I guess

>implying people here played a game that came out 20 years ago when the majority of Sup Forums's population was born after 2006

It's just fun.

It was ugly when I first played it 20 years ago. It's still ugly now.

Only a few hours left until the sale ends? Should I bother picking up any of the other titles?

FF VII it's still a good JRPG. Better than any FF from the PS2 era onward but it is not the best JRPG (even if counting the PS1 era alone) let alone the best game.

Both PS1 and PS2 delivered far better JRPGs and games. Furthermore FF VII as a game is dated and presents some really boring tasks.

Still far better than the chore most RPGs are now with all the collect X item, escort missions, fishing and even most hunts...

But there are many JRPGs from the PS1 and PS2 era that are arguably better JRPGs and there are many non JRPG games that could easily take the "throne" you have so easily awarded it.

>Leave Midgar
>"I guess this is the part where I switch disc"
>Not even fucking close

FFVII is great because it isn't just battlan & story. The games constantly throwing different little challenges/events at you throughout the game to shake things up. Other RPGs... may have a fishing mini-game and that'd be about it for side activities. Game also doesn't overstay its welcome. You can complete it in full in about 20 hours. Meanwhile, though I enjoy the Trails games for instance, they just drag on and on... I'd never be able to sit down and replay them. FFVII though? I could replay that 3 to 4 times in the time it would take to finish just 1 Trails game.

Fucking nostalgiafags

piggybacking on this; is the FFVI port decent?

You really thought it was disc switch time after only 3-4 hours of gameplay time?

But IX is better than VII.

- Class system
- Better setting
- Better characters (character development)
- Better antagonist (get wrecked Sephiroth)
- More organic blend between gameplay and "lore"
- FAR BETTER OST (this is not an opinion, this is a fact)
- You can play with a friend assigning characters to player 2
- Better sidequest and mini games (Chocobo hide & seek and treasure hunting are by far the best mini games. Triple triad stands second, Blitzball stands third and THEN and only then you can mention goldsaucer)
- Synth
- Moggles (and mail delivery)

Should i go on?

>Look up FFVII to see if it got an updated port that isn't garbage
>Read the user reviews
>One guy

>Cons
>You need an internet connection to play, which is probably the worst thing, but if you can wait long enough to download this game, you probably have a stable internet connection
>You need to login with your facebook or square account to play everytime, but if you login with a steam account on the actual website, its always ready to play.

>No one else brings this up. Everyone is too busy fucking jerking off over how great this game was when they played it years ago

and those things have what to do with the game itself?

Anything is possible with Tifa Lockhart.

that shit isn't even true though. I've played FFVII on steam when disconnected from the internet.

>What does the ability to play the game have to do with the game?

I'll keep researching, but thank you for your input

There was once an interview clip they showed on XPlay with the head dev. He talked about how "people were amazed we could cram so much, an entire world, into is tiny disc".

Passionate, good, hard work should be rewarded instead of companies using dirty tricks to get extra money from loyal customers.

Sorry anons. I can't find that interview. I only remember it was in an episode of Extended Play or XPlay, or used as a commercial break between TechTV shows.

funny, i have no problem playing the game off my ps1 discs, ps3/psp psn release, or ps4 hd port

maybe you buy and play console games on... consoles? just a thought

It wasn't even the best game the year it came out.

what was

Dark Souls 2

Fallout and Breath of Fire 3 were better rpgs and Blade Runner was a better cyberpunk game.

There is not one single instance of IX that I can honestly remember and I thought it was better than VIII.

This is the definition of "Troll: The Post".

Recently I picked up FF7 and I'm enjoying it even though I thought I hated JRPGs. I think it's the production value that's got me entertained, that and the characters are all really good.
>first time leaving Midgar
>decide group with Barret and Red 13
>the girls go "Unexpected combination. Well, enjoy hanging out with the boys..."
>mfw

That's not Chrono Trigger, Suikoden 2 or Final Fantasy 6 OP

If you pick Aeris and Tifa Barret says that's what I expected

>Final Fantasy 6
You mean the game that's the step down from it's predecessor in every way?

Kek I wish that Aerith spoiler wasn't so pervasive, I would probably use her if I didn't know about it, fucking weeaboos. Barret is easily the best character, dunno why he's so underrated.
