Nioh: Could this game have been perfect?

Have just finished Nioh. And I'm here wondering, anons. What were the biggest flaws and mistakes in the development of the game? Personally, I thought that there was great potential for this game, even to rival all other Soulsborne games. The game either seems too easy, for the most of the NG, but then there is a HUGE difficulty spike in NG+. Also, I HATED the repetition of the bosses and enemies. What are your complaints, Sup Forums?

I hated how it was a generic souls game with a few boring gimmicks.

this

Yeah, me too.

enemy repetition
level design is half good half terrible
game wasn't very difficult once you got decent gear, should have been more control surrounding player progression (scrapping the loot system would have been a start)
also the combat doesn't have a ton of depth until you start unlocking some of the more interesting cross-weapon skills, which happens at like the end of the game

Yeah, ok. But if that were completely true, how come it has got so many good reviews?

How come any souls game past dark souls has good reviews?

because they were decently good.

In general I disagree, but you're entitled to your alternative facts.

>Thinks only Dark Souls was good
>Dislikes the sequels
KEK

loot system was a bit too granular

I think it's all garbage, right down to demon souls, I'm just wondering how "reviewers" are still falling for it 6 games later.
For it's time darksouls was almost original and refreshing, and despite that being the good thing about it all these sequels and copycats are still praised.
Why.
What did they do right, aside from "be souls games"

they fucking improved the dodge system in the next Dark Souls, made an incredible Lore and atmosphere in Bloodborne, and made more interesting and fun bosses to fight, specially in BB.

I like the revenants but if they were like 20 or something levels above u they would drop 4+ items usually with top notch stats which negated alot of challenge

Dodge system is meaningless, the combat has been trash since day 1.
>made an incredible Lore and atmosphere in Bloodborne
"lore and atmosphere" have always been strong in souls, but the fact is they're minor things that don't hold the games up on their own, in general they're just shitty substitutes for an actual plot or characters, or anything sort of world worth getting emotionally invested into.

I'll wait for Complete Edition with patched difficulty settings for PC. Thanks for beta testing, sonyggers!

The lack of enemy variety is easily the biggest problem. The level design isn't particularly interesting either. There's a general underuse of traps and the only gimmicks are a few stages with the amrita crystals you have to break and that one stage with the spiders where you had to beat the big ones to unlock other areas.

It's not very balanced either, human opponents are easily wrecked by parrying and punishing every one of their attacks, while monsters just require you to hit them a few times until their ki is depleted and then you bum rush them until they fill it again. The combat doesn't call for much thought beyond getting ki pulses down.

>made an incredible Lore and atmosphere in Bloodborne
Nigger what? Bloodborne sucked at those things.

>Doesn't know that Lore and atmosphere of Bloodborne is clearly the best one of the series
>Fucking Pleb
The Lore is so fucking deep there has literally been a book of over 90 pages written by a dude, and that's just about the Lore.

user I can write a book 200 pages long explaining how bloodborne is utter trash, does that immediately make it true?
Fact is no matter what that faggot wrote after 2 pages it was pure conjecture.

>reviews only matter if they follow whatever narrative I shitpost about
user, please. No one should give a shit about reviews period.

Yes, new game plus should have been beta levels of difficulty and twilight missions should have been alpha levels of difficulty and bullshit!

Had they done this i would have gotten the game day 1,but from what i have seen and read, the new game + isnt any harder than new game and simply makes the enemy level higher in which case you simply grind for better gear.

this meme should die

The first DLC apparently has new weapon types enemies, bosses, spirits, characters, and missions.

do you know when that shit will release?

Late March – High-difficulty missions added. There are 10 types of missions, including missions with the feel of boss rushes.
Late April – PvP implemented.

Also in Late April the DLC drops. Probably along with the PVP.

Also weirdly enough William will be playable in Musou Stars. A Omega-Force game bringing together Samurai warriors, Dynasty Warriors, Dead or alive, Atelier Sophie, Toukiden, Deception, Nights of Azure, and a bunch of other random franchises together to do your typical Musou shit.

God i havent had this much fun with a game in quite some time. Just beat nue, is there any way to make the same revenant respawn? Finally found one with gear i like and was wanting his sword
