Horses are supposedly extinct in fallout universe. As for vehicles could you imagine bethesda making a functoning bike or a car in their stupid engine?

They quickly realized that if the people in their universe couldn't be assed to sweep in the several hundred years since the war they sure as shit weren't going to maintain vehicles

>it's powered by 30+ shrunken invisible NPCs who are all set to "sprint" anytime the player accelerates

exactly

Fallout 2 had vehicles. Fallout 1 actually does too in the form of caravans. the canceled Van Buran was suppose to have raiders that had mobile siege tower cars.

This. Bethesda is just lazy.

>wanting vehicles or mounts

Fuck you OP.

>Walking down the mojave in your powersuit with your dog
>Turn around, see this
>What do?

Todd said after the release of F3, that they wanted to implement vehicles, but
>engine limitations

Because Bethesda is incompetent and use an engine that's shitty for vehicles. The days of driving in a Fallout game are long gone.

>Engine limitations

Why dont they just make a new engine?

and is there a way to add vehicles to the game without ruining that fallout feel?

>and is there a way to add vehicles to the game without ruining that fallout feel?
Oh FO3babby, you make me sad.

>Implying Bethesda cares enough to make a new engine
>inb4 creation engine
All the "new" engines Bethesda comes out with are literally just Gamebryo with minor tweaks under a different name. Bethesda does not care.

delet this its been photoshopped i can see it

>Every so often those NPCs separate and attack the wildlife

>Engine Limitations

This is the only reason. Vehicles are rare, but they are unheard of. An organized group of tech-heads with control of manufacturing facilities could mass-repair/mass-produce vehicles. The BoS did in Tactics. The NCR is heavily implied/flat out stated that they do in New Vegas (railway, military vehicles). The concept art of Caesar's Legion in Van Buren even had motorized chariots.

Bethesda is just shit, and cut functionality for the ability to create a single unified overworld rather than re-introduce the map feature of earlier games which would allow them to create environments of the proper scale and facilitate vehicles.

>guns are actually spells with really really fast projectile speed
gee OP i wonder....

>He doesn't know that it's just Bethesda that's incompetent.

>guns are just mini invisible npcs that sprint out of the players perspective

...

beta version had Jesus Just Left Chicago as the music, you can hear they tried to make it similar

>2:45

H-HE'S FAST

>ragdolls use mini invisible NPC's to position limbs
>sometimes they accidentally spawn on the moon

Mod.

I'll dickride Mad Max all I want but fuck putting vehicles in Fallout.

Put a mode of transport in there faster than walking and then the distance between locations needs to increase to justify their existence. Vehicles then become mandatory and fuck forcing something on the player. I would have played even less of Fallout 4 than I already did if I had to touch the settlement shit more than once.

Or then you make them so inconsequential they're like the useless horses in Skyrim or they feel like minigames in a disconnected world like RAGE.

It's not engine limitations it's just that the people at bethesda are morons who code like your grandma browses the AOL

Lord it's awful. Glad that they decided not go that way

Is this a joke or did they cut that many corners?

It's no joke. Gunplay in Fallout 3 uses Oblivion's spellcasting mechanics as a base.

It's semi-true. A lot of the special effects/combat effects are handled by spells.

Using invisible objects to get some shit working is fine. I've done it on some projects myself, but this is ridiculous.

This Also see Creation can do it, even gamebryo can do it, the problem is Bethesda can't wrap their heads around how to prevent vehicles from having all kinds of problems navigating the terrain.

You didn't really drive in fallout 2 either. It was basically a fast travel option.

hey, it just works

>vehicles from having all kinds of problems navigating the terrain.
invisible horses

And, despite that being absolutely true, thank god they didn't. Can you imagine Todd constantly crashing those things into terrain and trying to convince people this is a feature?

>invisible horses
I don't even want to imagine how that would look

Horses are the simple solution to mounts, they have long legs, they don't have to be even.
A truck does.

ok
>invisble horse
>truck hat

But they do have vehicles, OP
Just not made by Bethesda
nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21899/?

[several "Never Should've Come Here"s sound in the distance]

>get into a fight
>your truck comes to your aid

Ok Todd

Because 3d fallouts have such tiny maps that if you moved around them on a vehicle the illusion would collapse.

Whats wrong with wanting something as simple as mounts and vehicles? If a car was usable in fallout 2 why shouldn't it be in the new ones and whats stopping some wastelander strapping on a saddle on a radiated monster? Come one user

The 2D fallouts had just as tiny maps, only difference was that when you left a section it switched to a world view, making it feel like it was bigger.

>accidentally shoot truck
>it drives away

>they have long legs, they don't have to be even.
>A truck does.
What is suspension travel?

I'm sorry, when's the last time you saw your car extend its wheels a foot off the ground?

>ok ill stay here

>vehicles would make the tiny maps too apparent
>You can literally throw a Molitov Cocktail clear across Boston Common.

You don't need a vehicle to shatter the "illusion", senpai.

More often than you'd think. Your suspension goes down pretty far when the weight of the vehicle isn't compressing it.

In reality the truck in would have no problem traversing that road and it sure wouldn't be having fucking seizures like that. That broken concrete is flatter than the terrain lots of farm trucks have to drive over just to get to the shop.

I wouldn't mind them if Bethesda could implement them properly but they never could

The real reason 3d fallouts don't have vehicles is because they can't optimise an engine to save their goddamn lives, while filling the world up with useless shit because "muh ruins"
Using that new motorcycle mod for 4 shows just how bad they are. If you move any faster than the normal run nothing loads in time and you're staring at empty terrain for 30 seconds before anything happens

I'd prefer them to make a compelling RPG first than their current looty-shooty dungeon crawler abomination design but with venicles.

this desu.

We need better quests and more compelling stories. After they have changed their writing they can do whatever the fuck they want

Tunnel snakes rule
This, seriously Bethesda should just give Fallout to Obsidian and be done with it

Because Bethesda has gotten lazy, and rely on the modding community. They intentionally leave cut content for modders to bring back into the games. There's a mod for motorcycles in Fallout 4

>Bethesda should just give Fallout to Obsidian

I thought Obsidian had a major clearing out and basically lost their talent Bioware style though?

Would make the already tiny map feel tinier

>Obsidian
They have way too many in house problems right now. They can't finish games anymore
