Hey, Sup Forums looking to upgrade my son's current system. How's this look? Keep in mind he won't be playing heavy demanding games. Parts not included are parts being reused from the previous build.

What is he going to play, WoW and indie games? That build would run those as well as pretty much any games from three+ years ago fine.
He currently plays stuff like Black Ops 2, Goat Simulator and some racing game called Apex, I believe.
Bad. Just wait a month and tell your son to go finish his vacation package. New cpus are on the way.
Also, 1050ti is a bad choice, would rather pick up an rx 470 for much better performance desu.
Lol, desu autos to desu?
buying any CPU a week from Ryzen is stupid.
even if you're sure you want to stick with Intel, Intel chips will likely go down in price is Ryzen is as good as the claims.
Even if Ryzen sucks ass you're no worse off by waiting.
>waitfags
Over the past 20 years I've built around a dozen rigs. Every single time I'd ask people what to get and every single time there were people from Tom's Hardware Shack to 4chins saying *hurrr durrr wait for 6 months revolutionary new hardware is coming out that'll just change EVERYTHING*
>mini itx config in a gigantic ricer corshill case
for what purpose
As the other guy said you might as well wait for Ryzen. But this build i posted will perform much better than your build. Also you can find a 8GB RX 480 for 170-180$ on r/buildapcsales
This was my first choice but for whatever reason pcpartpicker thinks it's incompatible with that build.
>hurrr durrr wait for 6 months
think before you post kneejerk meme reactions. ryzen is literally 2 weeks away and will be priced competitively. if it was 6 months then yes you would be right to unleash your greentext meme rage
baka desu senpai
Nigger it's two weeks. It's being shown off on the 28th. The official on shelves date is the second. All prices and SKUs are out. It's up for preorder in stores. Reviewers have the chips in hand. Motherboard makers are showing off their shit.
This isn't six months you gigantic fucking twat.
OP again, I'm not buying this build at this moment. 2 weeks seems reasonable to me. This is just a small personal project I want to do for my kid but I also don't want to fork over a lot of cash.
why are you hellbent on overpriced corsair ricer garbage? there are lots of good mini cases out there that aren't charging an extra 30% for edgy bezels
It's for my son. He likes the look of those ugly overpriced gamer cases. He might have shit taste but he's my boy and I'll do anything to put a smile on his face.
Yeah the lowest Ryzen SKU is $130, quad core at 3.2ghz with 3.5ghz turbo and is overclockable. At $150 will be a quad core at 3.4ghz with 3.8ghz that'll overclock itself automatically if the thermals are there. 3.8ghz is sort of a guaranteed frequency for it.
I went over the architecture for Sup Forums earlier but they didn't want to reply much
Then I suppose it's time for you to be a waitfag. The setup could've been much better for the price btw.
Agreed. OP, you might want to look into DIY cases. The company makes pretty awesome cases for cheap. They gave good features that even my $100 cases don't have....like a basement to make builds even more clean.
I do believe however that a case is subjective to the buyer so I never try and get a potential customer to change their case. Only time I'll do that is if it's a literal who brand and the case is super old, like that one antec case....you all know the one with blue fans.
>A MOTHERFUCKING i3 DUAL-CORE PROCESSOR
is he upgrading a laptop? get him an i5 quad core at least, holy shit, dad
that cpu is so shit lmao
;_; pls no bully
Wait for Ryzen. Check for GAME benchmarks and nothing else. Get a cheaper motherboard and the money saved should be allocated to the CPU or GPU. If you can find a cheaper case, get one. You could probably get a 2nd-hand one or even for free if you ask shops,PC repair, etc. I know from experience that there is a cheaper ram than that. With this, you could probably get $40 to $70 off your budget. With that extra money, go with an I5 and a 470. In some areas, 470 is the same price as a 1050ti but much more powerful.
Thanks, I actually found some ram lying around that could go towards this build so I'm already saving on that.
Wait for Ryzen there's only two weeks to go. If Intel does any price drops on whatever parts you want when Ryzen arrives, take full advantage of it.
Seriously get a cheaper case. Someone who prefers bling instead of better hardware should be punched in the face.
Just buy a ps4 for 250$. It's better than that build.
