What is the scariest video game you have ever played?
What is the scariest video game you have ever played?
stalker soc
i get scared easily
None. You pussy.
SCP Containment Breach spooked me real good. Not because of the monsters, but because of the sound design, fucking spooky.
Peter Jackson's King Kong for the ps2
All of them.
Seriously I can read/watch a horror movie and wake up in the middle of the night to take a piss with the lights off and I won't give a fuck but 5 minutes into any horror game and I'm scared out of my mind, I don't think I've been able to play a horror game for longer than an hour.
Winnie the Pooh's Home Run Derby
real life
Dead space 2. Ending sequence made my arms shake involuntarily and I had cold sweats if that's the right term.
I think to get the best out of a scary game, you have to have a good audio setup. Surround sound or virtual surround headset would do the trick. If a game has good audio work, it should definitely get you creeped out a bit.
Resident Evil 2 and REmake, Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3, Fatal Frame 1 and 2
it's been a while since I played a game that scared the shit out of me start to finish
SOMA was alright due to its setting and themes, but otherwise I'm not a fan of Amnesia-type gameplay
Fatal frame 2
It had some goofy clunky stuff to it, mostly the stairs women past her initial cut scene ( which was one of the higher points)
Alien isolation
Honestly? P.T.
For an actual game however, I guess SH3 and runner up being SCP.
There was this part in the underground area past the subway where you're just running in the darkness and you here some thing wail in the distance. It sounded so fucking real back then, and it sounded like some weird shit I heard before when I was a kid and it fucked me up hard.
dead space was pretty scary desu but at least my bf was sitting next to me
RE2 back in the day with headphones in the dark.
Wait, Dead Space is a horror game? I only played the first two games and never bothered with the third one, but it was more of a random action thing.
Fatal Frame 2 easily.
Then I'd say REmake.
Oh and Silent Hill 2, not on a jump scare level but after watching the VHS, all the imagery, and getting In Water the first time I beat it just made me feel uneasy and itchy inside for a few days.
Fatal Frame 2 is a good answer. Back in college, we had huge gettogethers where we all watched our one friend play through FF1 thru FF3 in the dark.
Call of Cthulhu dark corners of the earth was really scary for me man. I don't know that shit gets to me. intense stealth horror.
Related topic, but I find the parts of games that make me most stressed are when there's something behind you in the level that you are constantly outrunning, no matter whether the game's a platformer or whatever
Clock Tower (SNES)
Silent Hill 3 with headphones on.
>the boulder levels in crash bandicoot
That and most water levels might be the reason for my crippling anxiety since childhood
FF3 scared the living shit out of me, specially when you woke up and going around your house.
Probably either SH3 or PT.
>tfw ywn be one of those people who checked out PT after it was announced not knowing anything about it, thinking it was some random indie studio's game
en.wikipedia.org
>yfw ghosts have been photographed on television screens and computer monitors
>yfw the person taking the picture is unaware of it at the time and only realizes it after viewing the photos
>yfw every time you play a video game, you might be looking at a ghost
>yfw there could be one on your screen, staring at you right now
Goddammit, I wish I was one of those lucky fucks.
>there could be a ghost giving you a blowjob right now and you wouldn't know it
WOO WOO
Fug thanks for reminding me.
It's the worst feeling when what used to be a safe zone/hub area isn't any more.
That moment where the girl crawls out of your mirror as you pass the bathroom
twisted metal black when iwas 12
>there could be a ghost rapist in your butt right now!
NAH that moment when you notice there´s someone under the desk.
The endings were extremely creepy
I'm probably going to get beat over the head with memes for this, but Five Nights at Freddy's fucking terrified me. Having to watch Chica in particular just staring at you from around the corner with its mouth hanging open is pretty creepy, and it's the only game I've had to set down because I thought it was going to give me a heart attack.
>scissorman jumping out of the bathtub
>being scared by FNaF
rented it when i was in the 1st grade. didn't get past the first alley way lol
FUCK I forgot how fucking scary the sounds in SH3 were. I guess I either played with a very low volume or without sounds when I played it before many years before, because this shit fucks me up just watching this video. I recently replayed SH2 and were amazed by the top notch audio design of it but SH3 might amp it up more.
Oh my god, this reminds me of how RE3 terrified me as a kid. The way it just throws you into that tiny area with all those zombies shambling towards you making spooky noises. Man, fuck that shit.
>dead space was pretty scary
m8, I can't play horror games, I get too anxious anticipating a scare and I turn them off. I beat dead space without a problem. It's basically a 3rd person shooter with a horror theme, not scary at all. And let me tell you, I'm terrified of space.
I was fine with boulder levels but the fucking polar bear or dinosaur chasing you.
nothing will ever top Amnesia when it first came out.
Silent Hill 2 was also pretty scary, I guess, but it's also extremely boring, so it's hard to judge.
Yeah same, it was tense until you knew Necros come through the air vents also, mining gun OP
it was scary before it was taken from us by the little children
just like slenderman
just like creepypastas in general
all of it was fucked by little kids because youtubers like money
>SH2
>one of the best survival horror games of all time
>boring
Whats the story behind this image?
>all those jumpscares
>not spooky
user im a huge faggot, i get scared easily
Everquest. Seriously. Horror games don't bother me at all, but Everquest had absurdly harsh death penalties. Many, many times I would do anything I could to survive and not die, in fear of my character's life. I played a ranger, so there was some occasional creative/lucky use of a Tolan's Darkwood BP gate and the Overthere teleport hammer, if anyone's an oldfag enough to remember that shit.
Anyway, so if you fucked up and died, you had to bug some cleric to rez you or eat hours and hours of xp loss. That's in addition to recovering your corpse, which can also take hours and hours and result in even more deaths.
Now take that to the logical extreme. Imagine a raid zone, we'll call it the Plane of Fear, where it's dumb luck if you get one-shotted zoning in or not. And sometimes, the entire raid wiped. And it took hours and hours to try to break the zone while naked, usually dying a lot more.
Dying in Everquest was fucking terrifying sometimes.
ghosts arent real
Cry of Fear
Deus ex. It's not traditionally scary but I found myself terrified of MJ12.
>There's a feeling of uneasiness here
>Like I'm being watched
Turned off the game and never turned it back on desu. That SNES game is more nerve-wracking than 99% of modern horror.
Why are there no games as spooky as this?
Afraid Of Monsters: Director's Cut.
Dead Space 2 when you first see that the Ishimura is docked there and you know you'll have to go back to it
This. Or first Silent Hill.
I seem to be having a tough time coping with RE7's horror
The graphics look kind of disgusting to me with how they designed their foliage and it's supposed to be illusion-ruining, but once I'm inside the houses I start feeling the nerves build up and the claustrophobia begin to the point where I needed other people in the room to even step inside the guest house in the very beginning.
I'm a pussy ass bitch, I know it.
You're not a pussy you are just literally retarded
You're no pussy. You're a shill. I ain't buying that shit for full price.
>pussy ass bitch
Are you an african-american?
>us
epic *brofist*
...
The canyon mission
this, and it's a fucking shame JonTron shit on it so badly with his horrible humor.
it's probably the scariest game to come out in a long time.
and that was over 15 years ago.
I've never played it what makes it scary?
ambience, soundtrack, a legitimate feel of betrayal,
it's actually fucking spooky. look up a no commentary English walk through, you'll feel what we all feel.
STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl before I knew what mutants could do and what mutants were in the game.
First time going in 100% blind felt like the greatest horror game to ever exist.
Repeated play throughs felt like an ARPG with guns though.
Opposite for me. During games I literally cannot feel fear even while sitting alone in a dark room, while spooky movies and pictures have me shitting myself when they aren't just being gore-porn.
>buying
Guess what I didn't do
I´ll repeat the question, are you a nigger?
depends
Luigi's mansion
Ok.
dino crisis used to really get to me. The dinos are all fuckinv bullet sponges and they can follow you into different rooms. The agony.
It's mind-numbingly easy though. I fucking love the game but playing it isn't fun, not like SH3 or 1.
>Poor enemy variety
>Poor weapon variety
>Insultingly easy
>Motherfucking apartments as the first area in the game
SH1 was much more fun, SH2 feels incredibly dull to play.
This. SH1 also had way better pacing than any of its sequels, and was actually spooky in mindfuck AND terror sense.
>tfw going downstairs at night and you see two feet sticking out from under the
>tfw you have to go into the attic
>two feet sticking out from under the
From under the what, user? FROM UNDER THE WHAT?
[REDACTED]
Does not compute.
If you have played any games at all, one of it will be the scariest, whether you were scared by it or not.
If you only played tetris, it is still the scariest game you played.
Are you seriously trying to say that you have not played any games at all?
What are you doing here then?
Enjoying the nice people?
how would you know?
because i am one
>I´ll repeat the question, are you a nigger?
Neither did you pose a question before this, nor was the subject of your previous post whether user was a nigger or not, question or no.
what if ghosts cant see other ghosts?
P.T.
Followed by SH2.
SOC was never really terrifying but slow-burning creepy. the labs and red forest were high points of horror though.
No proof.
I wish.
Meme it up all you want, but Resident Evil 7's basement and derelict ship were terrifyingly well-done.
>clipping
>REmake is my first "horror" game
>heard it has the most horror elements in the series
>decide to go full out and play at night with lights off
>not a single moment of the game scared me
In terms of raw jump scares that shitty Slender game got me the worst.
I jumped so much I smashed my knee on the desk.
In terms of pure fear; palms sweaty, knees weak arms are heavy etc... Its gotta be Silent Hill 3.
Are you literally retarded?
>not a single moment of the game scared me
I wish I had the same experience. I first played REmake when I was 12, and the Crimson Heads almost made me quit.
yeah I could see myself shitting my pants if I was 12, playing Turok 2 at age 10 scared the shit out of me despite it not being a horror game at all
White Day.
Until it becomes a pixel perfect gauntlet run of dodge the baseballbat janitor and annoyance kills all the spooks.
