It's good for my crippling depression. I just leave it to play o the background all day so I can pretend someone's with me. The chat and everything is real time too so it really feels like it
Depends. Some game companies and devs depend on top streamers to shill their game.
Can't think of anything bad.
Bad.
Almost everybody streams games now instead of making youtube videos, and as a result, will be lost to time since twitch doesn't save them forerver This may not seem like a bad thing because LP's are often filled with faggotry, but it means, from a historical perspective, we will have much less of an idea what actual video game players actually thought about games and their immediate thoughts on them.
From now on, the only real records's wel'll have for if a game was well received or not will be reviews and SJW's dumb articles.
People will still make LPs idiot. Just not your top faggot twitch streamers you like to watch.
Youtubers are not representative of gamers.
Forums is where it's at.
Bad. Devs are starting to focus more on marketing through e-celeb hype instead of designing quality games. This way even dog shit can sell like hot cakes. They just pay streamers and youtubers to pretend to have fun in their closed betas and "press releases". A lot of hype gets built this way and the kids eat it up.
Hearthstone is the most prime example of this.
Blizzard seems to have caught on early but other companies are following suit.
I can't imagine anything good or bad coming from it that was any different from youtube.
Accelerating the end of the lifetime of that marketing is a net gain.
Bad in some ways.
You will never get well edited skillful let's plays anymore (Ironman's and the like) and the entertainer at any cost including being retarded is the dominant personality now. Developers also pander to these types at times.
All the good streamers that weren't autistic left a long time ago or pop up to stream once a year.
That being said I would say twitch is just the product of the people who play video games already being retarded.
I think its a neat evolution, streams are often more comfy than youtube and if you miss a stream you can just watch an archive
I've been trying to set up a stream but I just don't know what to start with, I have a lot of unique stuff in my collection but I just don't know how to grow an audience properly
How do I get people to want to watch me stream weird rare shit like Panzer Dragoon Saga or Misadventure of Tron Bonne
show cleavage
i dont pirate games anymore its like demo for me
Spam on Sup Forums
My girlfriends got some pretty big tits, guess I could bring her on stream with me and pass the controller back and forth
Guess a part of me would just feel bad that I couldn't grow an audience myself and had to rely on exploitation, but hey, how many big titty twitch bitches do you see playing DoDonPachi Ressurection on stream
Hmm, maybe
Hey user that's pretty fucking sad. You aren't necessarily alone, you can talk to the streamer through chat. As a streamer, I love talking with my viewers. It's a good way to meet people with a common interest and maybe in the end you can play with him/her if you become friends.
I can get behind this. Seems too many shitty games try to get in touch with streamers and offer "twitch rewards" in game for streamers when really it's free marketing for them. Like in h1z1 and For honor.
I think its effect on the community is much worse than its effect on the medium itself, but it's undoubtedly negative. Almost every moron with a PC and internet connection powerful enough to stream almost instantly becomes a narcissistic twat who expects anyone who comes in to his channel to kiss his ring while simultaneously pretending to give a shit about every stupid asshole that subscribes to him, asking questions about their life that he doesn't expect nor want an answer to. It's like cam-whoring but less honest.
That's a rather bleak outlook on it, I don't think every streamer is like that, just depends on who you follow
>never advertise my stream anywhere
>especially not on Sup Forums
>read threads about twitch on Sup Forums
>see my stream name pop up randomly once
>fear the worst
>everyone says its a good stream
>mfw Sup Forums approved
Unironically something like this. I live alone so its nice to play in the background when I'm doing a low effort homework assignment or don't feel like going out
Sadly user it takes some fag moves to get going I twitch. That's why it's typically easier to start streaming with a audience to back you. You just need to plug your stream, try some click-baity titles in the beginning and other scummy stuff. It just takes a little faggotry desu.
So basicaly haters say that it's bad because it shows the tastes of gamers.
>wanting Sup Forumss approval
I wouldn't want my channel hated by here but I don't know if getting the approval of the "hivemind" is something I'd feel proud of
If I had a couple hundred followers who just wanted to watch neat niche games with some chill commentary and they enjoyed it, that'd make me happy knowing I could share games with others
I don't know if twicth or even youtube allows for such a grass roots idea anymore
Bad for vidya youtube content. Every fucktard is just streaming and ulpoading his content on Youtube for double money.
Lets plays got a lot worse lately.
Fucking retard
I have some videos on my youtube channel too, not many views or vids to work with, I just dont really have the time is the main thing
>watch LP on youtube
>it's just a twitch stream uploaded there
>interacting with the chat for most of the video, but there's no chat on the screen so all you get is half a conversation the entire time
Well now I'm curious
youtube.com
>Watching people play video games
>tfw lets plays have killed off the variety of shows and other video game channels like individual collection sharing
I have a few LP channels I like but it just makes me sad knowing that there's not much room to share video game collections on youtube anymore.
It seems way less community driven these days
>Watching people do anything
are there any non autistic/cringe streams? it's always this forced positivty fag shit
>not tearing out your eyes and learning to play DDR and IIDX by the sound of the music and frames vibrating on the screen
Sup Forums gets shittier every day
>Still needs sound or other sensations.
if you're still here user got any tips? when i stream i get 0-5 views and a lot of lurkers
Mmmmm fuck me like a little horny hippo
Ah I see. Well you don't need a lot of time to start streaming. I think a big thing is having a constant stream schedule. I've been streaming for about 2 weeks now and it's a pretty steady incline. It usually starts out with some regulars watching and having more viewers attract more people. If you can try to stick by a schedule I think you will do fine. At first it might seem like no one is watching you but just give it time. I hope things work out for you my man.
I don't think he was everyones favorite but I've been enjoying the streams that Liam formerly from Super Best Friends has been doing
He doesnt make videos with them anymore but in his spare time he just streams and its often really chill. I also like that he aims to finish games, he's done a few random one off nights where he plays voted games from Twitter but I like his variety so far. His Paper Mario 64 stream is comfy as fuck
die mike
You too man
I have basic tools and programs
I also have an adavantage in that I have a capture card that supports S-Video so I can get a decent feed from older consoles.
I'd love to stream some N64 or Saturn games I'm really good with. I know it's better to start with games you know/love first so you have a lot to say about them
I used to practice speed running mystical ninja starring goemon, always wanted to make sure that game gets more love
I'll try the schedule recommendation
I'm off to bed
Good luck to you too mang~
Video games were made to played, not fucking watched.
Dunno about video games necessarily, but if anything it was bad thing for content creation.
>Why waste any time doing actual content when I could just stream on twitch and get donations + subs?
>implying sitting and just watching a good playthrough isn't chill as fuck
You'll understand when you're older sprout
Goatdog?
It makes walking-sim and heavy story-focused games lose sales.
That's always a plus.
tfw famous streamer but my other alias is a super gay furry :3
Sure. Like I just mentioned in another post it helps to have a constant stream schedule, even if you aren't doing it everyday. Try to get in touch with your viewers as much as possible. Also it doesn't hurt to make the stream look nice. I use OBS to stream and overlays at a website called Streamlabs. They got really cool stuff you can use there for overlays for anything you can think of. If it doesn't bother your internet too much maybe play some easy going music in the background. You can use copy righted music as long as there is something over it like you talking or game volume. Also, twitch has a whole list of copyright free music to use if you want to be on the safe side.
TLDR: communicate with your viewers and try to make your stream it look nice.
As long you ignore it, it literally has zero impact on videogames.
The best influence it gives is giving badly done memegames a spotlight, but you aren't forced to buy them so who the fuck cares.
Interested in your stance on big streamers only responding to the donate to play your message for them? They can't really respond to chat due to 1000+ people spamming shit but at the same time it alienates people that want to chill and ask a question without paying for the privilege.
Except fourms are dead, user.
When was the last time you or anybody you knew actually used gamespot or gamefaqs or the like?
Twitch banned AngryTestie for saying the word nigger on his channel . Twitch are tyrant faggots.
Not magazine forums , you shill. Game forums.
Bad because it's run by SJW hugbox babies.
Good question user. Now, I think it's reasonable that if you can't get your message across thousands of others you might have to find other ways to talk the streamer. When you get that big you can't really blame the streamer for not seeing your comment. I think twitter is a pretty handy tool to ask someone a question or try to talk to them. I've seen this happen to other streamers as well when they get too big to talk to everyone, that just comes with being popular you just need to find an alternative way of talking to them directly even if it means donating. What I'm not okay with is if a streamer doesn't talk to anyone in chat when they get big and only pay attention to donators. Hope that answered your question. It's kinda tricky but that's just my thoughts behind it.
Almost nobody watches me play when I stream.
Best I had at one time was about 19, but only during an Osiris New Dawn stream.
Of course, my latest stream has been Terrafirmacraft Reloaded so I don't expect many viewers.
Those are even deader.
what do you think this is
How often do you stream?
not as bad as shit like Steam, but close.
You think Reddit is dead?
>Streaming Minecraft
>2017
You are quite literally 6 years too late you dumb cunt
Been at least once a week, but managed a couple weeks with two or three in that week.
Thing is my "schedule" is shit because I do it when I'm in the mood for it, so it's never the same day each week.
I won't get viewers like this.
Australia is 6 years behind on internet.
Actually make that three decades behind.
There's some truth in that statement user. If you want to be successful in twitch you need to treat it like a job. Take some info from this thread and try using it in your own stream. It sounds like you do get viewers but they don't stick around because they don't know when you're coming back. I bet if you stick with a schedule you will start seeing more viewers coming in.
I am just glad that Vinesauce exist, when I am depressed I just pop open a vinny stream and I can hear him be an autistic italo-american, makes me feel good
I don't think I could actually turn it into a job, so I don't really try.
Streaming is the worst thing that has happened to video games since the 2012th century
I realized after posting that I worded it wrong. You don't need to treat streaming like a job but you need to put some effort behind it.
I'm not sure why I wanted to stream, maybe I wanted some attention. Only thing is I don't know how to handle it and keep it.
I do know that I wanted to practice my speech and this is one way, so I'm thinking that's the main reason.
I'd love it if the fucking camwhores and overlay and tip addicted faggots would leave
That's the big problem. If you want the system to work for you, you have to be consistent.
For Youtube, your passive popularity will only increase if you upload a video very regularly, almost every day, with relevant tags. If you aren't constantly producing content, Youtube won't ever put you in other people's recommended video lists.
For Twitch, either you stream "all the time" to catch all the people looking at random streams or you'll be at 0 favorites for a long long time. Setting a schedule at a certain time of each day or every few days to stream for an hour or two is a start.
You don't need sensationalism, you don't need to put tits on screen, and while putting your voice commentary/personality to your video helps, it isn't necessary. Just be consistent with putting out videos in the beginning. After the initial hurdle of getting a small following, it only gets easier to gather more and more people.
And you don't really need to treat it like a "job". You just have to do something regularly. You can find fun in almost anything, like the "fun with friends" argument, you can fuck around in a shitty game for your own and an audience's entertainment. In fact, it's a lot more relaxing to be fucking around than to be playing something with the intent to perform skillfully. The more popular individual streamers are the ones who do fun shit; if people wanted to watch displays of skill, they'd watch a tournament stream.
Well said.
Well like anything that opens the floor to a wide community it'll bring both good and bad aspects. It's hard to say whether it's definitely one or the other overall, since while there are a lot of good streamers, and I also like to stream sometimes and find it fun talking to people in the chat, there are also literal attention whores and people jumping on whatever bandwagon game is the most popular right now.
It's a bit of both but it's probably not as bad as you think it is, just because a lot of it is filled with cunts.
>Microsoft
kek
I chose more than one
The existence of streamers/LPers did eventually create a category of indie games meant purely for them to react to and be super wacky, like goat simulator. But it's not all that prevalent for it to affect the overall quality of games.
