Been asking myself that for a while. Several Wii U, PS4, 3DS, and Vita games don't come with anything (except the 3DS has those 3D warning inserts), but they all have the tabs to hold manuals.

I'm okay with this, IF collector's editions go down in price. Then normal people will just buy digital and people who want a box will buy a nice big one instead. But knowing the industry I guess digital only games will still be $60 and boxes will be $100.

TBQH the only use for manuals was to have something to read while your mom went shopping and she got you a new game and you were getting hype to play it, or when you went to the bathroom maybe.

You don't. You buy it later when they do have games. Only a select few type of consumers buy a console at launch. Every successful console of the last couple of gens had shit launch line-ups this means jack shit to a consoles success.

you do understand nintendo are not a "plastics manufacturer"
they outsource to whoever for production. The mold for the plastics is obviously more convenient and cost effective to have tabs incase the game needs a manual, rather than stopping manufacturing, or manufacturing 2 types of mold, 1 with, 1 without tabs.
