Other than giving people less time to cancel their preorder, what does a review embargo accomplish? Is there any reason to do it if your game is not a piece of turd?
>Is there any reason to do it
A reasonable review embargo is usually set so reviewers with autismos playing super fast don't get reviews out faster than other places.
>what does a review embargo accomplish? Is there any reason to do it if your game is not a piece of turd?
Insures journos won't rush to be the first
Gives time to complete the game, edit [p]reviews
Bombards consumer with the info from all sides on the day embargo is lifted, which gives extra hype effect
Review embargo means that there aren't people rushing through the game to be the first review out there and missing shit, not paying attention or any time on it.
what if the preview is just a review with no score?
But people already do that
No one reads reviews, anyway.
nah, they started getting their consoles like yesterday
It will mostly be first impressions
>reviewers are playing zelda right now for free
>they do it for free
>reviewing a console with 1 game
I just want a goddamn side by side comparison of wiiu/switch botw in time to cancel my preorder if they end up the same
>Betting the whole console on a single game
worked well for the ps4 and knack
lasted them 2 years before bloodborne
...
>what does a review embargo accomplish?
reviewers wont be rushing tru the game to "be the 1st one with a review out"
so if they sent out the games 1 week before, reviews have 1 whole week to play hte game and stuff.
well. imagine that ,but worst
>all physical allocated copies of BotW are sold out
It is one of the best games a console can bet on. Even the most diehard of shitposters has to admit that Zelda has huge draw and will sell the console solely by itself. It may not give it staying power but it will sell great at release. I can only think of a few other IPs that would generate that much attention for a new console, perhaps maybe Uncharted or TLoU for Sony or MAYBE Halo for MS but they opted to release their big titles later in console lifespans and not at release.
There is no other reason, in case the game is shit you want to keep people in the dark until launch so you get as many preorder sales as possible before they plummet.
But why were the review copies sent out so late when the game has been gold for awhile? Why not send them out earlier and move the embargo to a week or more before release? If any other dev had an embargo up until a couple days before release, this board would be out with their tar and pitchforks.
Go away Bethesda
cause copies are sent by ship doofus
>you can't post opinions on the game until it's released
>but you can spoil as much as you want a week in advance
Uncharted, tlou or Halo has they power Zelda has. Zelda is much, much older and has much more recognition.
generates hype for consumers who want to know how bad/good it is. the day those reviews hit you can bet cray shills and trolls alike will be scrambling to get whatever scores fit their narrative
>tfw 10/10 game of the decade on march 2nd
It mitigates poor reviews with actual consumer reports. An 8 from some hipster who wants more lesbian romance and less combat means jack shit in the face of forums blowing up with praise.
Zelda has more pedigree to be sure but the market has shifted. You can't tell me that if the PS4 launched with TLoU2, it wouldn't have sold like hotcakes and made headlines everywhere.
>but the market has shifted
How so?
so switch teardown and detailed specs will come out a week from tomorrow
until then all we have is leaked foxconn pics
Because a remasters of games like TLoU and Uncharted are enough to shift tons of units with UC4 selling like over 9m or some shit while the Zelda on WiiU couldn't save it from an early death.
What about PS3 and 360?
retired consoles
Zelda doesn't have the draw Nintendies think it does
>only 20 % of the power of the pro
This is the power of the Switch
Zelda isn't even out on the Wii U, you retard.
yeah why would anyone expect anything higher from a mobile chip? its good performance
Skyward Sword didn't save the WiiU
>a game that came out for the Wii didn't save the Wii U
Really makes you think
Which is why I said the market has shifted when remasters like TLoU sold a ton and WiiU Zelda did not.
Review embargoes too close to release date are generally considered a bad sign with movies. If a company is very confident in a movie they will set the review embargo a week or even more before the release of the movie. Marvel Studios has been doing this for a while since they're very confident on their quality control. BvS review embargo was 2 days after the premiere.
It's over, Zelda is finished.
TLoU remaster sold one million, Zelda remasters sold 4 million ;)
>why is a portable chip device not as powerful as a PC
WOW
>TLoU remaster sold one million
It was the best selling PS4 game till Uncharted with 5+ M sales
>vgchartz
HAHAHAHAHAHA
>Spoil
>A Zelda game
Link saves Zelda, defeats Ganondorf or some other shitty OC
wow
Yeah, because I'm sure vgchartz is so inaccurate they just reported 5x the sales numbers as some fucktard on Sup Forums says.
>He doesn't know
>take the P out of Preview
>????
Then I guess Zelda only sold 0.8m units
