It was the best game of 2014 and the only game I have enjoyed as much since it came out was Bloodborne.
the writing is a bit cheesy and some puzzle are a bit confusing, but cleary worth it for 20 bucks.
Took me roughly 60 hours to finish the first time, so good value (Also the first hour or so of the game is quite slow, lots of talking / investigating in town; but the action comes after)
it's good, I got 75 hours out of it for barely any money
only gripes are the looped dialogue, leveling crafting jews you out of leveling combat skills, too much loot, agitating puzzles at times, and the mid-late game being somewhat worse (Silverglen and Hiberheim)
also fuck Mangoth

It's pretty good but
Prepare for lots of boring walls of text and Sherlock Holmes quests.
It's a game that really encourages multiple playthroughs but doing some of the boring quests more than once will give you cancer.
Every other aspect of the game is really good though.
The first third of the game is the best third. Leveling progression funnels you down a corridor so the game isn't even as close to as open as it appears. Writing and world suck a million dicks
It's pretty good inspite of that though.
I got bored of it before finishing. But I loved my time with the game anyway, I recommend it for sure
Good combat, boring story.
>It's a game that really encourages multiple playthroughs
In which way? I was able to complete almost everything on my first playthough. If you mean trying alternate builds, that's what the companions are for.
A FINE DAY ON THE MARKET IT SEEMS
I played the first hour of the game solo and uninstalled. The game does a horrible job of drawing the player in and creating a compelling world. Everything just felt cheesy and generic (literally, orcs are attacking and there's a necromancer!)
BUT this past weekend I reinstalled it and started playing it co-op with my wife and we're having tons of fun. This game is way better with a buddy because you don't have to worry about missing any interesting story/lore (there doesn't really appear to be any) while you dick around
if you can play it with a friend it's a fucking riot.
not sure if i would recommend it otherwise, unless you really want to play a CRPG with a neat battle system.
NOT IN THE MOOD FOR CHEESE?
RED AND ORANGE, YELLA' AND GREEN, THE FINEST VEGGIES CYSAEL'S EVER SEEN
AH, WHERE IS MY PEPPER? DID IT SPROUT LEGS AND RUN AWAY? *achoo*
it's very good
>the writing is a bit cheesy

Well maybe I shouldn't say encourage but yes trying out new builds was a big part at least for me. And as I remember the companions had set skills which kind of started them on a certain path. Plus there were some skills that could only be randomly dropped.
I dunno though, I'm not expert. I never even finished the game.
4th post best post.
This chart is autistic as fuck.
I like it.
what did you base this on?
where'd you get your data?

pretty neat user, good job!
It's good, but it has Divinity's signature writing and a lot of people don't like that.
It's like knockoff Terry Pratchett at its best and lolrandum spork xD at its worst.
When it tries to take itself seriously the series just falls apart further (see Rhianna Pratchett's gay-ass backstory to Beyond Divinity). Sort of a take it or leave it situation. The gameplay is usually pretty good though.
Legend of Grimrock doesn't seem that controversial.
"Ey what's the deal with Legend of Grimrock"
"S'alright. Too much hidden shit."
"Fair enough"
Then the discussion ends and the thread archives.
I think it's controversial as in high popularity and mixed reception
I've had this sitting in my backlog for a while on ps4. Should I give it a go? Also any tips?
Mages are a great fun. Abuse elemental combos (rain + freeze to create slippery surface, poison cloud + fire to explode things etc) and teleport as much as you can.
