resident evil was always magic disguised as other things

SO whats the consensus on this game??

Sup Forums seems to like it overall but I thought it was pretty average and nothing out of the ordinary save for the first hours.

It's mould.

Starts out really strong just to take a fucking nosedive both gameplay and writing-wise like halfway through. The game's ~10 hours long too so yeah

so much potential

only to become FEAResident Evil

it's actually her vomit.

still better than alexia shooting fire from her hand and the Matrix Wesker

Just like everything else in every other Resident Evil game.

Good game, even if they give you way too much ammo by the end. The first few acts of the game are the best, though that doesn't mean the second half isn't good. It even takes away your equipment again later in the game in order to make you vulnerable and relive some of that early-game tension, which is nice (though without the Nemesis-like encounters like the early game, they are just not as tense).

I think the game kept up a consistently good pace up through about 2/3rds of the way, with the last act feeling a little too short to be satisfying.

I think the game might be fun to speedrun or do challenge runs (knife only? knife/pistol?), discounting the in-game unskippable cutscenes (this isn't a problem on Normal because it autosaves after cutscenes, but a big problem on the unlockable difficulty, Madhouse, which doesn't).

The DLC modes are fun as well, though I wish that they weren't, well, DLC. Nonetheless it's a bit late to bitch about that now.

Great game.

What do you think Mia's panties smelled like after 3 years

Oh, it's virus. See, it's not magic. It's virus. Everything is virus. Not magic at all! Only virus! Virus isn't magic, it's virus.

Much like the last reboot of the series (4), it's not Resident Evil. It has a few surface level similarities to trick casual fans into thinking it's "going back to it's roots", but presentation, tone, and gameplay are all far removed from what I personally liked about Resident Evil to begin with.

Which isn't necessarily bad, just different.

Judging it as it's own, separate thing like I did with Resident Evil 4... It's okay. It's like a weird mix of Condemned, Outlast, and F.E.A.R. that draws more from horror films like Texas Chain Saw and Evil Dead than it does the Romero Zombie films and B-Scifi schlock of the original games.

As some other anons ITT have pointed out, it also kind of fall apart halfway through. All pretense of it being a gritty, immersive, cinematic horror game go right out the window around the time you get to the second Jack boss fight, and the game takes up more of a goofy horror shooter kind of vibe. Which, again, isn't bad per say. However, I think Capcom's indecisiveness about which direction to take this game hurt the product in the end because the final product feels very inconsistent tonally.

One personal gripe I have with the game is it's lack of content. The game is short, and very linear save for a like one or two rooms. This wouldn't be an issue, but the game lacks any sort of replay value due to the game having pretty much nothing in the way of bonus content in favor of having a DLC Season Pass for the bonus unlockable stuff that was standard in old games. Say what you will about Resident Evil 5/6, but those games were packed to the brim with content. In terms of the both the actual games themselves, and the amount of collectables and gameplay features/modes. Resident Evil 7 feels absolutely barebones in comparison.

Overall, I'd give the game a 6 or 7/10.

A solid attempt to revitalize the series, but heavily flawed. I look forward to seeing where they take this new Resident Evil with the next mainline game.

Well, yea user.
Resident evil hides magic and calls it bio weapons. Like how MGS hides magic and calls it nano machines or parasites.

Because god knows the "well actually this 'magic' has a viable (but not really) explanation!" trope totally isn't ridiculously overplayed at this point.

Magic is only science without a known explanation

>alexia shooting fire from her hands
Legitimately when I dropped the series
I remember being a little faggot in 7th grade playing that game after having loved 1, 2 and 3. I fucking noped and turned it off. I liked the whole "science gone too far approach" but that was bullshit
That bitch better have been a robot with a fucking flamethrower for an arm but I know she wasn't, she was just le sleepy bow

Resident Evil was always full of dumb bullshit like that. When a virus that somehow creates zombies also creates giant spiders in the very first game, mind-controlling mold is one of the tamer things.

First 6 hours: 9/10
Last 2-3 hours: 7/10

mould

so what you're saying is that it's mould?

Wasn't zombies kinda like the baby step of a licker
Zombie - > crimson head - > licker
It makes a little more sense when you think of it as some crazy mutation shit
Also umbrella altered animals on a genetic level
Kinda like how you don't see unusual shit in the mansion but once you hit the labs you run into all the giant shit they came up with

why is this game running so poorly on my 750ti?
Cant even get stable 60 fps in sub 720p and in some places I experience some weird 30 fps cap like, doesnt matter which settings I use, I cant seem to get over 30 fps in very specific places.

I might get shit for this but I felt like the shooting mechanics were extremely satisfying.

I've never played a game where firing a pistol was so close to how it feels in real life. I was also playing in VR, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

I enjoyed the force and impact of the guns. That being said, the way the enemies squirm all over the place makes getting those crucial headshots extremely difficult if you aren't using the shotgun.

The whole game felt really nice to play. Very weighty, "tactile" I suppose.

All the weird shit like teleportation and psychic blasts were hallucinations, dumbass.

Don't do this man.

>It was all just a vitamin deficiency combined with hypnotherapy, magic doesn't exist, stupid

Can somebody recommend me some good cunnyspook films or games?

Best RE since 4.

>cunny
Fuck off back to Sup Forums, degenerate.

Pros
>resource management
>atmosphere
>pretty good story
>Bakers are based
>cat and mouse part with Jack

Cons
>takes a while for the game to pick up
>could have been longer
>you don't fight Lucas
>ship part
>flamethrower sucks dick
>DUDE LITTLE GIRLS ARE SCARY XD

Fucking hallucinations.

>Everyone just had a mass hallucination of the same exact town Luke. It's a perfectly logical outcome of inhaling natural gas.

...

Potential wasted by the last third of the game.

Well mould is a mushroom and people can consume mushrooms as a drug

Post Eve panties already

Pretty fucking terrible, I imagine.

Would you sniff them?

Where the FUCK is Mercenaries?

But MGS has literal magic. The Sorrow wasn't nano machines, it was literally magic. It also has actual ghosts. Some stuff is indeed nano machines bullshit though.

Much like people who complain about fallout 4 having "magic" and aliens. I mean, it's like they want to hate bethesda so much they forget people in old fallouts were literally telepaths and actual magicians.

RE though never explained that shit as "dude it's magic, get over it". They just keep saying "n-n-no it's a virus see!"

N-no just asking for a friend haha

DLC

...

>play 21

get 21 instantly on last game
fucker drops a 17 trump card
get 1 finger removed
>read achievement no torture on survival

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!1111111111

I mean, you can't get upset over it, because that's RE's thing. Each game is like an episode of "Umbrella's wacky Virus-of-the-week"

The "gun down everything for score using lots of weapons" modes are DLC, sadly. I believe Volume 1's DLC is the most like a "pure" merc mode, surviving waves of enemies and setting up traps. Vol 2 has a story mission, a card game, and then a "mercs" like mode where you run around different maps shooting enemies to add to your timer while trying to bring Jack food for his birthday.

>it's not future london. It was just an underground recreation of London
>but there was that one person who really was time travelling

I had to give up on Layton after 2.5 games because the plot twists are too fucking stupid to ignore.

You don't wanna go down that path, boy.

Mold and bacteria can do some weird fucking shit if you fuck with their genes enough. Just sayin.

>mold

Needed better enemy variety
Also needed a better final boss

Kek thanks

It was something to do with pure oxygen hitting her blood. They did try to "science" it somewhere.

>only a virus! Not magic at all!
>only a parasite! Not magic at all!

This is what you sound like. Did you forget Resident Evil brings the dead back to "life" that parasites make us all mind controlled just like this new mould and that revelations had a tyrant at the end that can teleport.

Magic is just science that we don't understand

The guy who created the universe of Resident Evil said that the dead can't be reanimated. It's Code Veronica who who turned Resident Evil into a shitty anime with ridiculous bullshit and magical science.

>In his story notes, he also established that the t-Virus could not reanimate the dead, but simply gave the impression of death by shutting down the organs of infected people; this would be continued by Noboru Sugimura.
residentevil.wikia.com/wiki/Kenichi_Iwao

It's MOLD not """"""mould""""""

well, yeah, the zombies in RE1-3 were not "dead" per se, but they had been infected and essentially reduced to mindless mobs of people who had their sense of pain shut off and were driven into an insane rage, anger, or hunger (I guess the bioweapon development was supposed to increase a subject's natural aggression). It's why you can kill an RE zombie without shooting their head.

Heck I mean one zombie was able to write out his "Itchy Tasty" diary before completely going nuts.

DUDE

LSD

LMAOH FUCK

>upset that fiction has fictional science

I'd put my infected shroom in her mold cunny.

slow playthrough takes 5 hours tops with
zero reason to reply it as no optional paths etc
not worth the price they charge

>tldr - pirate it or wait till its £20..

Good game, wish they stuck to the creepy infected rednecks though and not make it about a creepy girl like every other scary game.

>slow playthrough takes 5 hours tops with

? avg play time for the first time is approximately 10-12 hours.

You can get at least two unique plays out of it since Madhouse changes a few things up with item and enemy placement, and then (if you really want) you can fuck around with challenge runs).

Do you expect it to be backed up with a 200 paper phd study you dumb motherfucker ?

Only the wife was creepy.
The other two? Not so much.

It's okay.

12/10 game
