I haven't really been keeping up with this game, but every time I see a picture of the landscape it has this weird "blobby" look to it, like Oblivion or the landscape editor in RCT3.
It's surprising and a bit disappointing to see in 2017.

The lighting looks pretty bad on the biggest models. The simple graphics work way better for smaller characters, but the lack of detail stands out too much when they are big.

BOTW looks fine when you see it in motion because everything is very well-animated and there are tons of environmental motion/physics effects that you don't usually see in high-end western games outside of stuff by eastern europeans.
