Will Nintendo finally have a decent VC system now that we're getting unified accounts on eshop or will we once again have a small trickling of NES and SNES games per week at $5 a pop?

With the joycons' motion capabilities, wii ports could be possible.

there are only so many titles nintendo can put up on VC due to licensing issues.

No, VC is dead. You get the NES classic now. Up next: SNES classic. Be prrpsred to wait 5 to 10 years.

I lost all interest in the virtual console after realizing all the games I wanted to play will never be put up there. Thank goodness for emulators.

What games?

You will buy Super Mario 64 for $10 again and enjoy it.

Contra

All the licensed ones like the old Disney games in Genesis, plok! Top gear etc.

>VC got progressively worse with each platform
Nah, they'll trickle out the same tiny selection Wii U/3DS had

It is fucking inexcusable how bad the Wii U Virtual Console was. They are sitting on a goldmine with their N64 emulation tech, and they just straight up refuse to release games. We didn't even get Star Fox 64 until a few months ago. It was a launch title on Wii Virtual Console.

>tfw there was going to be a re-release of Goldeneye for the virtual console AND an an HD version for XBLA
>tfw nintendo backed out of the deal after BOTH games were made and ready to go
>tfw nintendo backed out at the last minute so neither were ever released

there's footage floating around that shows the HD xbox version. It looks really fucking good.

who cares nigga we got perfect dark.

>HD version for XBLA
pissed as fuck this didnt happen

Nintendo killed VC because early on in the Wii's life Nintendo realized that people didn't have to buy their new games if they supported the VC service. Nintendo wants you to buy their shitty, new, expensive games instead of their good, old, cheap games.

I preferred goldeneye's maps

That's pretty shitty of them. As someone who owned a Wii U since mid 2013, I would've bought a ton of VC games if they actually released good ones because those droughts between Wii U releases were fucking awful.

It's pretty sad in hindsight how much worse we've gotten since the Wii VC.

>cheap
on what fucking planet are they cheap, especially since they're literally ROMs downloaded from the same place you'd download them if you wanted to pirate them

Not everyone wants to resort to piracy.

Also, if you were aware of the state of the retro game market right now you would understand that yes, paying $5 for something like Mega Man 5 on the Virtual Console is very cheap compared to buying a cartridge of it.

But it's not a comparison of a physical product with value, it's a comparison of a ROM download from romhustler by you and a ROM downloaded from romhustler by nintendo.

>Not everyone wants to resort to piracy
Except, you know, Nintendo. The ones downloading their Mario ROM off the internet to package.

>ROM downloaded by Nintendo off the internet
How can you tell it's that, and not their own files?

Nintendo owns the code that the ROMs contain and the artwork contained in them. For games they don't hold ownership over, they work with the companies that do hold ownership over those games.

They've used games with the iNes file format (.NES)
If it's a standard practice for NES games, it's unlikely that the practice changes for other platforms.

Gee, can't wait to buy my games for the 10th time!

10 FUCKING DAYS WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO ELABORATE ON VC GOOK ZIPPERHEAD CUNT FUCKS

>Starfox 64 added to Virtual Console
>AWW HELL YA NIG--
>Europe Only

What was their end game?

There better be Sega games.

Check out Goldeneye X

At least Europe finally got the NTSC version instead of the god-awful PAL version.
