First Departure is okay. Last Hope has fun battles even if the rest of it is garbage. I still need to play Till the End of Time and from what I hear I really don't want to even touch Faithlessness.

Fuck off, the twist only came out on the last stretch of the game and they didn't even bother much expanding on the issue. Not to mention that ending, everything is coming to an ending and then suddenly it didn't matter and everything is okay.

It's about the same as the twist at the end of Mass Effect 3 or even the events that occurred in Chrono Cross. When a game pretty much insults you for giving a shit about everything in previous games in that series with a twist that makes going back to play previous games very hard after playing this one unless you can successfully block that moment out of your mind. This game did it in a way that it felt completely wrong to make sequels after said game when you know it's all just a simulation in the end.

Star Ocean 5 was the first Star Ocean game I played. I was blown away with how garbage a full release game can be.

I don't get the hate for the twist. The experiences and everything are still real. Its like you've missed the point of the ending where the game is deleted, but it's still real to the inhabitants and you can't just delete everything that's happened

I don't play Gust games. Apart from Mana Khemia, they are really dull. But if Ar Tornelico 3 is dull in the same way that other Gust games are, then I couldn't say it's worse than Last Rebellion.

The Second Story is the best Star Ocean game.
Because one of the problems was the pacing itself. It doesn't even help that they didn't even bother delving further into the issue of that pathetic attempt of a twist. It was like it was just thought up only at the last second.

From the video they posted, it seems like the Director's Cut also added more animations and poses to the cutscenes and battle animations. So, there seems to be more added, not just Welsh in one of the Field menu options.
