So after BotW where will the 3D Zelda games go from there? Where do you want it to go? I don't see them doing another open world game in Hyrule, might be a decade before we do return, as everyone will have got their fill of it; devs included.
The future of the Zelda franchise
Uncharted Clone
They'll finally make Ocarina of Time 2.
There was an interview with Aonuma from a few days ago, he said he might make another Zelda on the Switch (but not how it would be designed) and that 2D Zeldas on Switch are also a possibility. I don't think the series will have problems going on as it always has, the next 3D Zelda can just be smaller and focus more on different aspects of the franchise.
What would that be and how is that not already both gamecube games?
Here is my ordered prediction for Zelda's future:
A 2D Zelda game similar to Link Between Worlds.
A mobile game.
Another HD remake.
Some type of spinoff Zelda game.
Another 2D Zelda game.
Then we get a new 3D game. Whether it is open world depends on the reception of BotW.

I doubt
this game is not as groundbreaking as OoT was, and frankly the artstyle is boring
but it will be a good zelda
I believe Anouma spoke of making a multiplayer experience similar to BoTW, i guess this makes sense as multiplayer looks a no show for BoTW, they also spoke multiplayer in 2013, and tested it out a bit more with Triforce Heroes
I unironically was about to say this.
I think Zelda might end up making a "future fantasy" with some kind of guns as a play on the first person shooter genre. It might have tones of Uncharted and Assassin's Creed.
This will of course probably be ten years from now.
You mean TP?
Dunno about a jump to the outright future stuff but I would like to see industrial age Hyrule first or something, no steampunk though. Baby steps.
Nobody cares. Get lost.
Babby's first disappointment? It's probably already in the disc :)
>w-why arent you baiting! PLEASE GET MAD BEFORE I DO
kys
>Open world with MM transformation masks
Hopefully we'll get a new Metroid game instead
Apres toi mon petit chou chou :3
Depends on the hardware, Zelda games are usually tied with what they're being developed on pretty hard, so if the next Zelda will be releasing on the Switch I don't think they'll try to go for the epic open world meme again, in 2020-2021 it will look downright silly in comparison to Playstation 5 stuff, even Nintendo must be aware of this, and we also have to see if they confirm Aonuma again(babby game) or give it to a competent director that can actually make an entertaining Zelda again.
The devs don't have much overlap so EAD + any other dev that's not Retro making a Zelda game won't interfere with the release of a new metroid.
>tfw Koei wanted to make a more traditional Zelda adventure or RPG but they got rejected and had to do a musou instead
Could have sworn this wasn't the first time it happened either. Third parties really want to make a good Zelda game but Nintendo won't let them. Likely out of fear that someone else will do it better.
Minish Cap was kinda made by Capcom and it was competent, the problem is that those games were seen as "just" 2D Zelda so less important than the 3D ones.
Give us a game where you play as Sheik already. There's a whole backstory about her being trained by Impa totally unexplored.
>2D Zeldas on Switch are also a possibility
Man I hope so. ALBW was a sleeper hit for me personally. Had no expectations going in and just blasted through the whole game in a couple of days. Refreshing game that got me out of my gaming slump. Hoping BOTW does the same because I'm in another slump right now. Also comes out right as my uni spring break starts so I will have all week to play.
More 2D Zeldas would be amazing though. Loved the Oracle games and ALBW was closer to those than the abominations of Spirit Tracks/Phantom Hourglass. Plus with the system being a much better handheld (FUCK YOU ITS A HANDHELD) we could see some awesome handheld games. Just want to see a lot of the 3DS franchises in higher resolutions and at stable framerates on the go. Stuff like Pokemon, MH, etc.
>Implying BotW isn't Ocarina 5
Aonuma already has his new IP about thiefs in preproduction iirc, so I kinda doubt.
Maybe they could bring back the original concept from LttP where Link travels thru time between a medieval and a futuristic world
I nearly stopped playing Skyward Sword because the Skyloft Citizens on more than one occasion talk to you as if they're a walkthru, instead of a character with a sidequest. I felt like the entire game was some massive kind of rote.
From that I would very much like to see an adventure game that immerses itself in the concepts of the Zelda franchise that doesn't confine itself to staple-thinking.
BOTW seems like it could be that game. But I'd like wherever it stays familiar to be changed too. Like... maybe there is no hookshot. But using the Wind Waker weapon drop concepts of BOTW; you beat a large gap with a potential puzzle piece that's a large spear a miniboss has, an once you beat him, you can use that to pole-vault over a very large gap.
>mfw Itsuno already made a better Action-Adventure Fantasy game
>mfw SS and BotW, two of the most creatively-lacking productions I've ever seen put to light were directed by the director of the Oracles; A guy who was contracted from Capcom to help develop them and eventually through sheer creative willpower overtook the director's position and has been a franchise mainstay ever since
Daily reminder Iwata killed Nintendo.
Its...not day 1 though?
why is zelda a fat slob?
another Wind Waker except not rushed and with a non-boring overworld
