Do you want another game like RE7 in the future?
Do you want another game like RE7 in the future?
a boring, linear and scripted LP bait for VR babbies? No.
add zombies and less weird looking monsters then sure.
No, if they want the outlast walking simulator crowd then they can fuck off
>I haven't played it
No. They need to go back to their roots like RE 0
i bet you also eat shit to know it's shit
Shills really don't have any other "arguments", do they? Zenimax used the same pathetic counter against D44M criticism.
RE FANS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT ANYMORE.
Sure...improve with more monster types and less linearity
The outlast comparison is only fair for the first 20 or so minutes. Once you get your weapons it becomes RE....in first person
flop of the century
what the FUCK they were thinking
>shit analogies
Sad
But I do.
This, in Raccoon City.
yes. with a larger and more complex setting and zombies/t-virus enemies preferably.
holy shit are you from the future
No, I want something better.
>stunning engine
>fantastic environments
>focused on slower pacing again
>mixing action with steady exploration again
>focused on horror again
>first good VR game (though with some flaws)
7 was a good start though.
buzzwords
No. Just Yurop.
>buzzwords
is a meme buzzword for the un-intellectual morons.
>un-intellectual
Nah.
>boring
Subjective, says nothing
>linear
Not inherently bad / not applicable to RE series / not even totally accurate
>scripted
Meaningless
>LP bait
Meaningless
>VR babbies
Meaningless
So yeah, buzzwords.
T.butthurt buzzword kid
>not applicable to RE series
just like RE7 as a whole
>linear and scripted
Just like EVERY single Resident Evil game?
Or are you one of those jaded faggots who genuinely think that RE games were "open" with no scripted sequences?
>WAH WAH WAH
Keep crying bitch nigga
Incredible pivot from being BTFO.
When all of your "Criticisms" are blanket statements that you can literally throw around about any game, you're being a petty child.
Red herring, also not accurate. Nice try, buzzword kid.
re8 should be third person again
>Subjective, says nothing
it says that it lacked the capabilities to engage me with its atmosphere or story.
>Not inherently bad / not applicable to RE series / not even totally accurate
True, linearity is not automatically a bad thing. However, when mixed up with heavy scripting and absolutely nothing happening, it gets dull.
>Meaningless
>Meaningless
not arguments. The only "argument" for RE7 fags is that "you NEED to play this shit on VR, mate!". It's no different from "you NEED to play RE5 in co-op, bro!" - AKA its a flawed game
>Meaningless
again.
>So yeah, buzzwords.
is a meme.
>Just like EVERY single Resident Evil game?
Go play REmake for a change.
How would Sup Forums rate the resident evil series?
REmake is more scripted than the original, though? And is just as linear.
>Go play REmake for a change.
I played the original RE1 and taking Item A into Keyhole B to progress is still "Linear" by any standard, the game even fucking starts with a cutscene, and hunters have scripts to slide around corners when they appear.
Kill yourself.
>Go play REmake
>"I played REmake I'm such an old school fan"
The game was good, but they need to go back to third-person. FPS is just going to get bland at this point.
>REmake
>Not scripted as fuck
All those "random" zombies that can walk through some doors say hello.
Yeah, I'd like it to be a prototype for a new direction for the series, but for it to return to actual zombies and BOWs.
This. RE games were always fucking scripted.
>zombies lying down to jumpscare you
>zombies in the blindspot to jumpscare you
>hunters in the blindspot to jumpscare you
>crows
>dogs through window
>dog in the door AT YOUR FACE if you try to leave
Funny is that if you put RE1/2/3 in first person, it is literally the same shit as RE7 with things in your face to spook you.
Missed the last RE thread so I figure I'll ask here.
Is it difficult to unlock Hunk and Tofu in RE2? I'm having a hard time even finding a definite answer on what's required to unlock Tofu. Some say you beat 6 scenarios and have at least one be A rank. Some say they all have to be A ranks. I would assume the former because the latter seems silly. I finished Leon A/Claire B a few days ago and just beat Claire A/Leon B. Would getting A on the next run through do it or does it have to be consecutive playthroughs on one file?
>heavy scripting
What are you talking about? What "heavy scripting"? You are in full control almost all the time. What sequences are scripted, aside from the Mia knife fight at the beginning, and a couple times with Jack (some of which can actually be missed in one playthrough)?
>The only "argument" for RE7 fags is that "you NEED to play this shit on VR, mate!". It's no different from "you NEED to play RE5 in co-op, bro!" - AKA its a flawed game
Practically no one says you need to play it in VR. Barely no one talks about the VR.
But, I imagine that it is the preferred way to play, if you have money to burn and don't get sick by it, just like how RE5 with a friend is the preferred way to play. In what world is playing a co-op game by yourself preferred, other than yours?
Also, "LP bait" refers to absolutely nothing. Made up head canon tier bullshit of yours.
>How would Sup Forums rate the resident evil series?
REmake > 4 > 3 > 2 = CV > 5 > 1 > 0 > Gun Survivor >> 6 >>>>>> 7
>REmake and 4 that high
KEK
Gotta love nu-fans.
I thought Nu Fans are the people that like shit like 6 and 7?
Hey man, they're the first ones he played, obviously he should be able to distinguish "Games that got me into the series" and "Ranking of the series"
He's still young, give him a break.
Outbreak > 1 and 7 > Outbreak #2 > 2 > 3 > 0 > garbage > the rest of the franchise
No, they're the underage retards who grew up on speedruns thinking RE was a game made for their autism. Adults with the series since it began in the 90's have always understood it as a good old, cheesy 80's horror inspired game geared towards the player that wants sensation and immersion instead.
It was always people who liked 4 and up.
Those same people are making the argument "THIS GAME ALIENATES THE FANS BY CHANGING THE FORMULA TO MUCH"
And of course, I'm going to shit on them for being brainless faggots.
Nu fans are the ones bitching about RE7 not being a 3rd person shooter co-op scriptfest.
Yes, RE6 fans actually exist now.
No.
Remake = 2 = 3 > 4 > 7 = 1
To clarify, I love 1.
Haven't finished it yet but yes, very much so.
I get the identity crisis the series is going through right now but honestly, I feel P.T.'s influence was a good thing for horror games. Also I'm bored to hell and back of zombies, if they take that route again they'd have to make them scary again, something almost impossible nowadays since almost everything about zombies has been explored.
>Nu fans are the ones bitching about RE7 not being a 3rd person shooter co-op scriptfest.
you mean bitching that it wasn't a good game like RE5?
>Outbreak 1 better than 2
This bothers my anus. Please explain. 2 did nothing but add mechanics, better AI, and truly unique levels (axeman).
Don't even make those kinds of jokes.
If I was joking I would of said "you mean bitching that it wasn't a good game like RE6?"
because RE6 was anything but good.
2>7>4>REmake>3>the rest
Put Outbreak (offline or online) at the front and you have my opinion.
5 was painfully forgettable, and had no place carrying the RE title.
It was an interesting experiment but no. For the RE2 remake I want it to be as true to the original as they can in terms of gameplay. It needs to do for that game what the REmake did for RE1.
6 at least was a decent action title.
5 couldn't even say that much.
Both are still garbage, but it astounds me that people have shit enough taste to put 5 above 6.
No, I want a Resident Evil game.
Not him but for me...
Enemy respawn rate was out of control, like one Zamboni wouldn't even finish its death animation before another one spawned.
There were too many puzzles per level and they were tedius. Down the stairs up the stairs flip the switch flip the other swith oh look someone flipped the switch back time to start over.
nigga you best be trolling
To be honest, I did love zoo, mansion/asylum and RPD levels in Outbreak 2.
I prefer a forgettable title over a bad title
>6 at least was a decent action title.
I played RE6 and it wasn't even a good action title.
>but it astounds me that people have shit enough taste to put 5 above 6.
why? 6 was basically a Michael Bay movie, shit controls, bad story, unnecessary stamina system, and punishes you for trying to play it like a third person shooter.
Not to mention it replaces weapon upgrades with a retarded skill system where you need to farm skill points just to buy basic skills.
5 and 6's only shining points were Mercenaries.
If you're SERIOUSLY telling me 5 mercs was better than 6 you can fuck off.
It also featured Nyx, the best final boss in RE history.
5 had a fun campaign with Wesker
6 had a michael bay movie with literally who.
Never got a chance to play online soo that really hurt my opnion the outbreak games, but i remember enjoying playing then...should have been fun the online
Yes we do. We want a game that truly goes back to the series roots. Not something that pays lip service to the idea with a decrepit house that vaguely resembles a discount version of the Spencer Mansion. I mean a real isometric horror game with the same sense of labyrinthine scale the originals had. First person horror is not a brave design choice in today's market.
The offline was still great. Did you know about the AI relationship system? Not knowing can really deter the experience.
Absolutely. Just no more of the VR cancer that made the game not as good as it should have been.
This pls.
About the OP though. Sort of?
I finished RE7 a couple days ago and I don't feel like replaying it on mad house or anything. I liked it, but I'm not getting the 'I wanna play again!' like RE4 or RE2/3. RE7 needed more enemy variety and more of a reason to replay it other than achievements.
RE6 had really smooth controls. Dunno what you're on about. Story was pretty bad though (kinda liked how cheesy it was).
>Wesker wasn't killed by Jill and Chris.
>Killed by some throwaway nobody to appease the "DAS RACISS" crowd.
Fuck you, don't even pretend that was good for the series.
>RE6 had really smooth controls
and environments that allowed you to do fuck all with them
>First person horror is not a brave design choice in today's market.
with all the LP bait + VR gimmick going around, they thought going first person was a good idea
>we
Keep talking like you know anything, fuccboi. RE7 wasn't perfect, but it was a huge step in the right direction.
>but muh remake
Fuck off.
>It was an interesting experiment
This is the easiest way to spot someone who never played the first four games of the franchise.
I've been out of the loop, but then is it confirmed that this guy is actually Chris?
yes, but an action comedy shooter, like 4
>hating best RE girl
It's time to leave, Sup Forums
yes.
Hell, the damn credits confirmed it
>bad story
As opposed to what? The Resident Evil franchise has never been great in terms of storytelling. 7 was arguably one of the better ones in this department and even then it had a pretty mediocre plot.
>buzzword, buzzword, buzzword, and buzzword
One of my favorites. I always appreciate what they do with their main games, and most of their spinoffs.
RE1 - horrifying, Alone in the Dark but grittier, cheesier, with more sci-fi and combat. Good stuff.
RE2 - a step up from 1. Crazier, creepier environments and enemies, awesome sc-fi, cheesier, that licker cutscene in the hallway is classic to me.
RE3 - love the intro, the attitude of this game. Some quirky things like the decisions with Nemesis but still cool. In some ways, freakier than the previous two, I really hated the park / hospital areas.
RE4 - felt totally different from RE, but still great. Some arcadey stuff I wasn't huge on, but I really liked it. The action was very engaging and it was still creepy.
RE5 - formula felt like a ripoff of 4, story was stupid, but still entertaining. Very fun with a friend. Mercenaries held up for some fantastic weekends. Wesker was funny. Not my favorite in the series by far but still good.
RE6 - very boring art / story direction, and Leon's campaign has very bad pacing. Disappointed in that sense. That said, the co-op is great, and the action mechanics are awesome. Mercs is still fun as hell. I liked Piers, Jake and Sherry as new characters, and some areas of the game are cool as fuck. The online features were very impressive and gave it a much grander sense than the other games which I thought was cool. Directed by the guy who directed the Outbreak games, which were amazing and also had innovative, impressive online features.
RE7 - back to horror, which it mostly did well. Felt a little like pandering at times but overall they were consistent with their approach. I think it is the most immersive title in the series right now, especially with its VR support. Amazing art direction, environments and lighting that rival even the best scenes in the older games.
RE is real good shit.
Yes.
Leak showed that you chase and finish off Lucas.
Here's hoping it answers like why the fuck he's in umbrella corps.
>As opposed to what?
the rest of the series
RE7 isn't bad.
It isn't 10/10, or even 8/10, but it isn't bad.
If you played with VR though, it would have been much better than what you played, and better than most horror games you've played in general.
>and environments that allowed you to do fuck all with them
Like the other RE's right? At least we agree the controls were smooth. I mean playing mercs mode was just noice.
>Practically no one says you need to play it in VR. Barely no one talks about the VR.
see
>If you played with VR though, it would have been much better than what you played, and better than most horror games you've played in general.
It's not even Sup Forums you brain dead faggot, her writing was horrible, Josh was a MUCH better character.
>Irving escapes because Jill grabs him
>"WOW CHRIS HE HAS A PARTNER GOOD THING THIS IS A COOP GAME"
>"I WANNA LEAVE CHRIS MISSION'S OVER"
>"I want to find my old partner Jill"
>"WELL WE'RE PARTNERS GUESS WHATEVER I WAS WORRIED ABOUT I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT NOW"
>Beat Irving
>"WOW CHRIS HE HAS ANOTHER PARTNER WE'RE PARTNERS TOO EXCELLA GIONNE"
>Extella dies
>"WOW WESKER BETRAYED HIS PARTNER GOOD THING WE'RE PARTNERS CHRIS THE THEME OF THIS COOP GAME IS PARTNERS BECAUSE COOP"
Sheva was a forgettable turd, Josh IS A LEGEND
I'd give it a 9
It's him. It's a return to something more resembling the original Chris Redfield. Gorilla Chris (from 5/6/rev) was the design that was really out of place but kids are too young these days to actually know that.
Fuck off. I've played both versions of the first game, along with 2, 3, Code Veronica, 0 and 4-6. The only games I never played or finished were the Outbreak, Chronicles and Survivor games.
>At least we agree the controls were smooth
They were not smooth because the environment/level design in the story did not allow you to have fun with them
Game based on the RE movies when?
As long the speed is not capped so VR users dont vomit all over the place, sure
I'd give it that until you get the fucking Bizon on the ship, then the game drops to a 7.
And the mines are about a 5.
It ended strong IMO I'd give it a 7, maybe even an 8 on a good day.
R3make?
I didn't say you need to... just that it's better with it.
Is Jack Baker the most tragic character in RE? It's either him or William Birkin.
It's not that the VR aspect was a bad choice, it's all the forced VR gimmicks scares and weirdness that didn't really work for non VR play.
It's totally possible to make the game work for both VR and standard play without saturating the game in gimmickry but they really wanted to push those PSVRs I guess.
