ITT: Well Designed Games

...

Undertale.

Super Mario World. It's a near flawless game. Everything thing seems to be perfect like the art style, gameplay, level design, sound design, music, etc. Can Sup Forums say anything bad about it?

...

Oh you know, just the fact that it includes a power up that lets you mindlessly skip entire levels. Not a big deal or some of the worst design in any platformer or anything h-haha

Cape is straight up game breaking
Secrets aren't really "secret" the way the were in SMB3, which makes them less fun in some ways
Top Secret Area trivializes a lot

That said, I fucking love SMW. Second only to 64 on the list of best Mario games.

Are you talking about the feather? That's optional. And worst design in any platformer? Please explain

This game was really ahead of it's time in terms of the whole lo-fi, vhs, 80s horror movie aesthetic. If it came out now it would be a much bigger hit.

Only if (a) you're good at using the cape and (b) you can keep it.

Also, act like the Donut Bridge level that was designed to allow you to hold a single cape-jump and automagically bounce off every saw wasn't the coolest fucking thing ever.

>art style
fucking boring
>gameplay
fucking boring
>level design
fucking boring
>sound design
passable
>music
passable

>the ultimate quandary
>Sup Forums spends a shitload of time criticizing other game yet still has shit taste for what they consider "good"
But don't expect this thread to go anywhere. I vote Evolution Worlds, Linear is best girl.

Protip: Don't search this character on google, you've been warned

>obvious bait
>innocuous bait

>the ultimate quandary
>different people have different opinions
What does it mean?

>different people have different opinions
>people always have different or shared opinions on what's bad
>almost nobody on Sup Forums has opinions on what's good

Maybe it's your opinions that are shit, senpai.

At least I know what games I like rather than always complaining about games I don't

waht he is mean by this??

Okay, look, if your argument is "nobody talks about the things they like" then that's fine but it's not the point you originally started with.

Now you're just trolling.

The cape is broken.
The levels are too flat and most are forgettable.
It recycles too many minibosses.
It has very little music variation.
>advertised as having 96 levels when in reality that's the amount of goals you can find, with multiple levels having two

I love Super Mario World, but don't pretend it's flawless. That's stupid.

>Don't search this character on google, you've been warned

W-why?

No?

This post right here was where we started. Observe the phrase "still has shit taste for what they consider 'good'"
Maybe you're just shit at phrasing your thoughts, but what the above statement indicates is that you think that, even though people on Sup Forums criticize everything, their positive opinions on things are shit, rather than what you're currently arguing, which is that their positive opinions on things don't exist at all.

I'm not posting 3 because some baby always cries that it's too long.

Hotline Miami's well designed

That's a good one, user.

>Evolution Worlds
>the half-assed mashup port of two full games that removed some features and trimmed down the first game so much, that it might as well not even be there since most of what's left is just cutscenes to a plot that wasn't that great
Not to mention the first game was a rushed job with generic dungeon design and the difficulty for both was decreased significantly. Don't get me started on the dub. I DON'T BELIEVE IT.

Still was alright story-wise. I would have played the originals earlier, but I never had a Dreamcast.

I nominate Golden Sun

I read about the creator and he gave up his studies to make it big. Which was a gamble but it paid off. He totally proved his parents wrong good on you Ojiro.

The only problem with this game is that there isn't much variety between runs. It's still great for a quick run every now and then though

>Protip: Don't search this character on google, you've been warned
What, this? This is the oddest thing in the Google search, so if this is what you're warning people about you've got some pretty thin skin.

Yeah, but I'd say that's more a problem with the game's scope rather than its core design.

mhm, whatever you say, user

Literally who?

It's passable, but even the first Evolution wasn't that well-designed and now you've got a butchered version of it.
Also, best girl was Nina, you pleb.

This is probably the only game I know where guns feel the way they do in real life. You can die in like 1-3 shots in this game.

Megaman Legends
Breath of Fire (all of them)

>Breath of Fire (all of them)
I'm sorry, what?

Megaman X's design is god tier

...

At least when you get good at it.

One Way Heroics Plus.

3's better
