Just recently finished Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia, didn't enjoy OoE that much, wondering if I should even bother playing Portrait of Ruin or just play Symphony of the Night again.

Play the GBA games again.
The only good gameboy one is Aria of Sorrow.
Wrong. CotM is great - a fine mix of Classicvania difficulty and Metroidvania exploration.
OoE really dripped the ball, imo.
the only good DS one was none of them.
>wondering if I should even bother playing Portrait of Ruin
It's not great. You might like it more than OoE, though.
I disagree. While nowhere near as good as AoS, both DoS and PoR were good.
This is now an Ayami Kojima thread.
I have a wallscroll of that above my bed.
Good man.
Who thought that double tapping for run in CotM would be a good idea? I played for only 30 minutes and my fingers were already hurting.
Stop being a frail white guy.
>white
Go to bed, Jamal.
How'd they fuck up so bad with DoS?
You didn't like any of em? I liked Dawn of Sorrow, was more of the Sorrow gameplay which is good but the anime "art" really wasn't good, and I didnt like having to quickdraw my stylus to do the magic seal bullshit.
What's wrong with PoR other than CHARLOTTE JONATHAN CHARLOTTE JOHNATHAN?
Story wasnt good but the gameplay and environments were fine. Way better than fuckin Order of Ecclesia
OoE was honestly a bit disappointing. Great ideas, but poor implementation.
You should definitely play Aria of Sorrow, if you haven't. And Portrait of Ruin is fun, if not that interesting to replay. At least play through it once, though.
Whites are the reason you are able to shitpost on a computer network you nigger monkey, be grateful to us.
Where did you get it?
I have the fold-out of Aria of Sorrow from Nintendo Power next to my desk.
I fucking loved her designs for the castlvania games and was sad to see them go to saturday morning shoen style for the ds games.
OoE doesn't quite capture it.
Was the only real problem with OoE the fact that all the areas were pretty flat? I haven't finished it yet.
>Was the only real problem with OoE the fact that all the areas were pretty flat?
There were very few weapons which were useful, which meant that over 2/3rds of the soul inventory was going to be clogged up by different strength versions of each mundane weapon and general attack type. Most of these weren't even that useful; I found ice, fire, and two or three weapon types practical. Everything else was pointless.
The way the system was set up highly encouraged dual-wielding the same soul. As such, any interesting aspect of carrying around two situations weapons was kind of killed since you were far better just using the one weapon twice, for faster attacks and the better special.
The smaller stages tried to be mini-SotN sections, but they were so small and so empty that most of them felt pointless. You just traveled through a lot of them once and then never touched them again. Ironically, this made the entire game feel smaller, since you didn't have these large sections still attached to the main map (even if you didn't revisit them).
An OoE2 probably would've ironed out all the problems and turned out great. Too bad Konami insisted on turning Castlevania into God of Lords of Shadow instead.
Megacon in Orlando almost ten years ago.
Does it have to be? I've never cared for the majority of her designs. Her art itself has nice use of color and texture, though.
>An OoE2 probably would've ironed out all the problems and turned out great.
I doubt it, honestly. It's possible though; they did at least listen to calls for higher difficulty which suggests they weren't completely asleep at the wheel.
Portrait of Ruin is the best of the three, but should hold off on playing it since it's similar enough to the other two that it might feel redundant.
hold L+R when selecting Game Start for Japanese voices
CotM's level design is repetitive zigzaging staircases. It's really not that good.
I'm playing Super Castlevania IV right now, really good game
Do you think John is disappointed in his son?
...
Well im going to play Portrait of Ruin, already has that good Metroidvania speed but I dont see myself using Charlotte much.
Chronicles' Simon looks weird.
Like he has a pretty boy face but is build like Arnie. The contranst is so weird.
What makes PoR better? I finished OoE earlier this morning and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Play PoR. It's great and has neat throwbacks to the older games like Aria and Dawn, Bloodlines obviously etc.
ah nuts.
but thanks user
so is that an actual filter, or just a clever painting/shoop-composite?
>Who thought that double tapping for run in CotM would be a good idea?
There's a romhack that swaps it so that running is default and double tapping is walking.
>Portrait of Ruin is the best of the three
The worst you mean.
OoE > DoS > PoR
OoE is shit.
AoS > DoS > CotM > PoR > HoD > OoE
Two bosses require you to use her or you won't be able to win. I won't spoil which though.
Literally the only difficult Metroidvania other than CotM and literally the only one with good art style on DS that isn't animeshit like DoS and PoR.
Also it basically did what Castlevania 2 should've been.
Yeah the difficulty and art style were great but the weapon system ruined it for me personally
I'd switch DoS and CotM.
Why? Because it wasn't cluttered with a thousands of shit like every garbage Castlevania since SotN?
Seriously fuck the item bloat in Metroidvanias.
CotM, HoD and OoE did it right.
I felt that the other games had a ton of useless weapons and OoE cut a bunch of that out.
Stella or Loretta?
Sorry user.
Also, DoS > PoR > OoE. Enjoyed them all though.
What am I in for?
A good game. Legacy of Darkness is better, though.
Portrait of Ruin is my favorite of DS games
Sure Dawn is great, but is still more of the same.
I cant stand Ooe, it feels flat, like a fucking corridor.
PoR is fun.
GBA metroidvanias >>>>> DS Metroidvanias
Why not both?
You should honestly just emulate Legacy of Darkness instead. It's an improved version of Castlevania 64.
I dropped $300 on Bloodstained. Anyone else hype?
Why are you lying? LoD is not a remake of CV64, it's a prequel.
While you can play as CV64 characters as unlockable bonuses in it, they don't have the cutscenes, levels and voice acting from actual CV64.
Ergo you're shitposting.
You're a moron.
I just said that LoD is better, not that he should skip CV64 altogether.
Go fuck yourself, autist.
I played Castlevania double pack all night once and beat Harmony of Dissonance and got to the end of Aria of Sorrow before finally going to bed. Saved right before the final boss. Turned out the cart battery was dead and my save was lost. Had to start all over the next day.
You're retarded
c64project.blogspot.com
Should I use this?
Just glad I have the money to spend on supporting the things I love. Why so rude user?
>wasting money on a game that could be shit
>"hurr durr, poorfag no fun allowed"
You are literally getting mad because he's buying something he likes.
>being this salty
I do what I want. You have problem?
PoR is really fucking good though. Takes the great parts of DoS, but adds more content and gets rid of the stylus gimmick in favor of a character switching gimmick that's actually pretty fun.
My favourite will always be AoS though. It has the perfect blend of SotN and a good length. Sometimes, when I can't sleep I'll boot up AoS and do a NG+ run.
>What's wrong with PoR other than CHARLOTTE JONATHAN CHARLOTTE JOHNATHAN?
Nothing, is perfect.
i literally have never gotten this meme. i fucking hate CotM, it's boring, the jumping and overall feel of movement feels outta wack and completely banks on you getting lucky with drops to enjoy the game.
>J-Jonathan..
...
lame-ass maps, charlotte being shit late game, rehashed maps
>Charlotte being shit late game
What? I thought she was immensely useful for support spells.
You don't see the problem in being used solely to buff Jonathan?
She's a woman. She's supposed to help the man, not take his role.
But, yes. It's a shame that her offensive options aren't as convenient as Jonathan's, but I still think she has great damage output and works really well as a buffer.
>spending more than 3x the amount of a full price game
>on something that isn't even out yet
I think Portrait is good, but i also enjoyed OoE. Aria of Sorrow is easy to get into if you enjoyed Dawn.
>Play DoS
>Get Bone Vacuum
>Use it on maids
>Play PoR
>CHARLOTTE
>Hold up
>Not so bad huh?
>Play SotN
>Alura Une
>Succubus
>Medusa
Why are these games so fucking lewd?
will Bloodstained be good or will it follow the path of Mighty No. 9 ?
Shitstained will be worse than No9
>AoS
>That room with the two succubus and a little duckling
Bad camera and controls as Reinhardt, but Carry make the game fun with her spells
It's a pretty alright game
>That room with succubi, maids and a bed
>tfw CV64 looks better without filtering than with it on
Portrait of Ruin sucks so hard. If you didn't like OoE because of the underwhelming level design you should know Portrait is twice as bad.
Personally I thought but OoE's boss battles carried the game but I can't even say that about Portrait.

So, the Netflix Castlevania TV series is animated, 4x 30 min episodes and R-Rated.
Dracula's Curse adaptation.
>animated
>4x 30 min episodes
>R-Rated
>Dracula's Curse adaptation
Sounds rad.
OoE's are small and flat. PoR's aren't.
>Animated
Thats all I needed to hear to start getting interested, I thought it was going to be live action
Charlotte's sprite is way too fucking lewd, I always get a huge erection when playing PoR or HD.
>all this Order of Ecclesia hate
Albus is one of the best non-lead characters in Castlevania history. Get fucked you stupid disciples.
YOU CAN'T GET ME
Yeah, no kidding. I've actually jacked off to this in-game pose.
>Jojo pic
>MFW Albus' English VA also voiced Speedwagon in the Jojo anime.
Keith Silverstein is based ad fuck.
>Japanese voices
Why would I want that?
>JOHNATHAN
>CHARLOTTE
>JOHNATHAN
>CHARLOTTE
>JOHNATHAN
>CHARLOTTE
Portrait of Ruin is dull as fuck
