Just admit you hated DKC3 because you were already in full hype mode for N64 and David Wise didn't make a mopey soundtrack for it.

2 > 1 > 3
but i fucking love 3
3 is better than 1 but screw you man nobody can fuck with DKC2
Nope. I hated it because the enemy designs looked like shit and the character of Kiddie Kong had absolutely no appeal
>he doesn't replay DKC3 every December with the MERRY code activated
What's your excuse?
Skipping across water was pretty cool.
As long as you admit that TF>3>2>1>Returns
I love DKC3 actually. I think the environments are done really well.
My nigga!
True
No 2D platformer has had as good an overworld since.
Then we are in agreement!
With Returns, they tried to make it too much like a remake of 1. Tropical Freeze they just went batshit insane in a good way. If it had good bonus stages it would be the perfect game.
...
Every Donkey Kong game kept getting more and more full retard with the secret areas.
It's hard not to notice the tells anymore. Like Zelda puzzles.
crazy how much these maps let you imagine things. It's so compact and full of hints that make you think about scenarios and what life is like in that tiny world.
Dk3 was the spoopiest.
Northern wilderness was such an underrated theme.
DKC3 was okay, but it was just retreading old ground gameplay wise. But the real bigger shitter is that the music was pretty lackluster. This is strange because the composer for this game (Eveline Fischer) did my most favorite DKC series tune: youtube.com
This.
2>1>3, but 3 is still awesome. Loved the overworld map.

She did my favorite DKC song too.
youtube.com
I'm guessing she was just directed to go in a more Saturday morning cartoon route with DKC3.
I don't know what it is about DKC3's soundtrack but a majority of the soundtrack just didn't gel with me. And that goes for both of them.
I think if you mix the best of SNES and GBA you can get something at least DKC tier. They can't touch 2 or TF though.
Probably. Like I enjoy that first level theme from DKC3, but others just seem meh
...
Tropical Freeze>All.
I want a minigame collection where Cranky berates you the whole time. Mario Vs Cranky Kong.
>Mario Vs Cranky Kong
That game already exists
Its called Donkey Kong
Oh yeah. Well they should have made Cranky the "host" of Nes Remix.
What went so wrong?
Name a trilogy with better music.
You can't
Kiddy Kong is my favorite!
They just took Banjo, filled the world with more crap, and made it longer.
Well Cranky has a street named after him in Mario Odyssey, maybe he can be a surprise boss fight and we get the rematch of the century.
...
Name a better 2D platformer, go on I'll wait.
Streets of Rage.
I personally can't, but I can post another good contender on that console.
Neck and neck with Yoshi's Island
That was the only answer I could come up with too but SoR3 went in some weird ass Nine Inch Nails direction.
3 is too easy. 2 would be better if every world wasn't pirate-themed
David Wise made several of the tracks in DKC3.
Anyways, I used to think I hated this game, but it's really not bad. Just not great. Kiddy Kong is basically just another Donkey Kong, and nobody REALLY liked playing as him in the first one. They also went way overboard with collectibles, to the point where the actual game is quite short. Game time is padded out by encouraging players to collect all the crap in each level in order to unlock the extra world.
DKC 2 was infinitely better in terms of gameplay, and had enough collectibles to make replaying levels enjoyable but not tedious. It also had the two characters that were the most satisfying to play as.
The real order is 2 > 1 > 3
The pirate theme is what makes 2 great.
>2 would be better if every world wasn't pirate-themed
let me guess, you'd want a cuck theme
DKC3 barrel play will never be reused on a new and better game
I really don't like the artstyle of the DLCR series. I really can't put a finger on waht feels off...
>David Wise made several of the tracks in DKC3
Eat shit. The pirate theme was badass.
Faggot contrarians that don't like pirates need to off themselves.
David Wise only made music for the GBA version of DKC3 years later. He was working on Diddy Kong Racing when DKC3 was being made.
...
What kind of faggot are you?
Rockface Rumble is the best DKC3 song.
I will also add that DKC3 contained the best track out of all of them:
youtube.com
What could be a good theme for the next one?
K.Rool's triumphant return.
NEW
DONK
CITY
David Wise made the Wrinkly Save music and Brother's Bear.
Wise worked on 3, here you can see what tracks he did.
I loved the ambiance of this one
youtube.com
This one made me groove and lose, betting the damn level in time was hard
youtube.com
Speaking of Yoshi, what did people think of Woolly World? I got it as a gift and didn't really know what to expect. Found myself enjoying it a lot, but getting 100% was one of the most masochistic things I've put myself through.
Best Yoshi focused game since YI. Also the only Yoshi game since YI not to have a fucked up soundtrack.
I hated DKC3 because it was trash just like the first two DKC games.
So, Retro or Rare?
Go to bed Jeff
I'm sure if Retro got a 3rd try they would surpass the original trilogy easily. Metroid faggots would have a heart attack though.
A perfectly solid platformer, it also has a good soundtrack with one of the most relaxing themes going to one of the most irritating levels.
youtube.com
Tropical Freeze and Metroid Prime are better than anything Rare has made so I'll go with Retro.
The real question is what game are Retro announcing at E3 this year?
Both because I'm not a gigantic baby who cries because new fun games aren't identical to my old fun games.
>tfw born in 1999
>although started playing mid-2000's, first game was DKC
>to this day still shocked that it was released in 1994
I still think the graphics are really appealing.
The graphics are still pretty nice to look at even by today's standards
Retro, without a doubt. It's undeniable that Rare got pretty bad in their later years, even before going to Microsoft.
DKC somehow competed with the hype from Saturn and PS1 shots coming from Japan. It did a lot to keep Nintendo competitive while they rushed the N64.
Really hoping for a third Retro game to round it out. Mostly because I really liked Returns and TF, but also because I know a bunch of manchildren who would get immensely butthurt that Retro is working on another great platformer. TF was a fun time.
TF is casual shit, it doesn't compare.
1 > 2 > 3
Dix is for casuals. DKC still has the best atmosphere and difficulty curve; you have to unlock the actually challenging levels in 2 and 3. Only bad thing about the first game is the shitty bosses, besides K.Rool.
Never had 1, only 2 and 3. Loved 2 the most but I dug 3's environments and music.
>Always thought these guys had pincers.
>Finally see the render and it's actually a dumb toothy grin.
way to ruin a cool enemy
Reminder that Donkey Kong Land has some criminally underrated music
youtube.com
>pincers
Say what. I didn't see that at all, I thought their toothy grins were perfectly portrayed.
2>1>>>>>>>> is correct but 3 was heavily flawed. Badly re-designed enemies, badly animated enemies, annoying new animal buddies, fun old animal buddies cut, uninspired level design and worst Kong.
...
But i do like DKC3.
>I really can't put a finger on waht feels off...
It's too cartoony. The SNES games had cartoony characters but photorealistic colors. The new games have very cartoony colors. A lot of flat and way too bright colors that make it look more like another Mario game than anything else.
More than a trilogy but motherfucking Thunder Force.
