Just got this game.
How does it stack up against the rest of the series?
Just got this game
Literally nobody talks about it here, so I'm assuming it's good.
the combat is better than average, but who really plays it for the fucking combat
the areas are generic at best, the story is also generic at best, no villains from the paper world other than bowser.
atleast the music is nice, but really it's just M&L x Sticker Star
It's not. It's easily the worst in the series. So many things kill the pacing of the game.
I am a huge Mario fan. I have played the others and enjoyed them (Dream Team was kinda eh for me, but in the end I did enjoy it enough to give it another play). But Paper Jam is just god awful. I have no want to play that thing again. Ever.
MARIO AND LUIGI: Rate them best to worst
Better that DT and PiT, worse than BiS and especially SS. It's passable.
It's worse than Partners in Time?
What would you say is the best Mario & Luigi game user? I've only ever played Superstar Saga
You know how nobody talks about it? That's because it's shit.
I'm not ganna lie, I actually liked that game. I don't really understand why people hated it so much. But yes, it is definitely worse than that (if you personally consider that one to be the worst).
Most people really enjoyed BiS. I really enjoyed that one too. Objectively BiS is probably the best one. I, personally, enjoyed PiT a tad more than BiS. But both are good in my book. All of them are better than 'Sticker Star fucks up Mario & Luigi.'
Thank for the reply, didn't think I would get one. Always wanted to try BiS.
It's my second favorite, but I honestly think SS is the gold standard to hold M&L to.
>no Paper Luigi
How do you fuck up so hard?
I actually consider it to have the best combat in the series, but everything else is extremely bare bones.
good boss fights, mediocre everything else
BiS>SS>DT>PJ>dogshit>PiT
It's decent though
>asking other people how a game that you own is so you can have the correct opinion about it while playing it
he's totally in the game bro
Why is Partners so bad?
Luigi > Mario
There
>as a side character instead of a party member
Mostly just much more tedious compared with the rest of them. Especially the bosses.
wasn't he basically a side character for the paper mario games?
not even a side character, he only shows up on the sound test screen
Best combat, worst story. The story does have some cool bits and the dialogue is ace still, just don't expect anything new and exciting.
I don't know how this compares to the later entries, but the special attacks take so fucking long (and in the case of the airplane one, break your wrist) that every fight is a choice between playing effectively and playing in a way that doesn't make you want to kill yourself.
Has the worst story out of all of them, but Paper Mario is incredibly fun and triple battles makes for some of the best battles in the entire series
The gameplay is overall one of my favorite in the series except for the forced toad capture missions which can get annoying, but they don't take that long AND you get good rewards for doing them
Overall I'd say it's technically the worst in the series, but that doesn't mean it's bad
That's the tragedy, Paper Jam could have been Paper Luigi's moment of glory where we finally get to see him in action, and get some fun duo mechanics in a similar vein to Partners In Time.
But fucking no, of course we can't have that because when you have Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi, two of the more interesting sub-sects of the Mario series, why would you ever do anything interesting for their crossover game?
It falls flat
They apparently experimented with having 4 party members and decided it wasn't working. Having 3 members already requires greater observational skill and reaction time for dodging, so I can imagine juggling 4 buttons would be a little overboard. PiT isn't a good example of doing 4 characters since the babies were just a backup duo if the main bros faint. You didn't control them all at once except for Bros Items.
