I haven't played a Fire Emblem game since Path of Radiance and what the fuck happened?! Why does this character named Camilla wear a thong with her armor?! Also, some classes have the character's ass in plain sight. I changed my Hana into a Knight and noticed that her ass was in plain view when attacking a lot. When did Fire Emblem become this tasteless?
So I just got back into Fire Emblem and decided to buy Fates

Since they changed character designers in Awakening.
yeah i heard the syrians got internet again.
welcome to 2017.
female characters with skimpy armors are a trend older than you and me together, that's for sure.
i'm more surprised you are assblasted about it in 2017 now.
Probably bait, but FE "purists" who complain about it being Waifu Emblem now need to remember that their beloved series would be dead if not for the shift made with Awakening.
I'm guessing Awakening wasn't a quality game.
The chara designer is very good but he just follows the shitty artistic decisions made by Nintendo HQ.
Though Conquest was still a very enjoyable game if you press start to skip every cinematic.
It's a fine game, but it also made a big lurch toward basic dating sim elements that a lot of the "I liked Fire Emblem before it was cool" nerds seem to despise.
Fire Emblem Awakening went the fanservice/harem character design route in order to "stand out" among generic colored armor designs. Awakening was very popular, so they used the same design ideas with Fates.
Wait until you see Odin and Charlotte.
To be honest most of the armor from awakening and fates look stupid as fuck
>Talking about practical character designs
>Posts character art done by Shirow "Oily cyborgs" Masamune.
Come on, man. Awakening wasn't that bad, but it wasn't particularly good, either. Character writing has been at its absolute worst with these last two games, and Fates is such an asspull of tri-storytelling that it simply isn't even worth picking up as far as I'm concerned. When your game's best/fan favorite characters are jokers like Lucina and Chrom, you've lowered your standards immensely.
Also holy shit the player characters thing they've been doing is absolute ass. Robin was/is such a non-character it hurts.
Why do you care about things like this when you should be caring about how much superior conquest gameplay is to every single fire emblem game bar thracia.
Oh that's right you are one of those FE7 story faggots
When a game is sold as three different games but not really in hopes of capitalizing on shitty storytelling and waifu breeding, you start to care.
I'm guessing you never played as Ilyana, Nephenee or Mia before.
But it's perfectly ok when Pirates/Bandits are shirtless.
awakening is the worst game in the series
Well they released 3 games because of story faggots who can't into gameplay.
There is a reason why conquest is considered by developers as classic gamplay.
Conquest was the original game. They divided the story to appeal to story casuals like you. So they split up the story into 3 parts.
All are the size of a full FE game
Never played Thracia before, what makes it so good?
>Ilyana, Nephenee or Mia
What's wrong with those character's designs? I haven't played Path of Radiance in a while.
Been looking online and I've seen some topics about Awakening having undesirable map design.
During the initial planning stage, the team reviewed how fans and critics had responded to Awakening. While the gameplay and graphics were positively received, the story had been criticized for its quality by the main fan base, even though new players approved of it. To that end, they decided to write a story that would appeal to series veterans as well as newcomers. The concept of the story changing depending on which protagonists the main character sided with, originated from Yamagami's memories of the first Fire Emblem, which allowed for choosing different protagonists but did not change the story. Wanting to play from both sides of a conflict and show both sides as neither good nor evil, the team decided to create multiple versions of the game. Initially, the plan was just for a choice between one kingdom or the other, but Yamagami wanted a neutral path where neither side was chosen, so a third version of the game was planned. The game's Japanese title, "If", came from the sheer amount of choices featured for players in the game.
>I'm guessing Awakening wasn't a quality game.
Eh. It has some major problems with the design of the game. It certainly doesn't have most of the features I prefer in my Fire Emblem. Still, it does have more noteworthy and more likeable characters (despite the design faults) and you can get to know them quite well. Also, while easy, it has that Final Fantasy aspect of being able to put together the most broken team you want.
>Been looking online and I've seen some topics about Awakening having undesirable map design.
The game has "random" fights with enemies called Risen, and every one of these fights ends up with every single enemy moving as far as they can towards your closest unit. They are very uninteresting, every single one of them.
A lot of maps are simply large, open spaces with few obstacles or structures. The map you posted is actually one of the more interesting ones, seeing as how it actually has a bottleneck. Quite a few are just open plains, open plains with a square block in the center, or open deserts (limited movement).
The game loves throwing enemy units out of garrisons without notice, which is a great way to loose units if you don't have people parked on each one.
Fucking Wyverns.
When people bitch about Awakening's map design they tend to bitch about the fact that every map is just kill all the enemies. There's no capture or defend objectives or anything like that.
That is true as well.
>implying those maps were good
they were just tedious with who has the door key and what not. took too may turns as well
I always used the mine glitch on that chapter to keep Legault from stealing everything and running off.
...
>first Fire Emblem, which allowed for choosing different protagonists but did not change the story
Fun fact:
√2/2 = 1/√2
√3/3 = 1/√3
In case you are wondering where the sudden 2s and 3s in the last panel came from, they're just simplifying 1/√2 and 1/√3 to put the square roots in the numerators.
Fire Emblem has always been tasteless you meme. Here's a real criticism.
>Prologue chapter
>Several characters are present in the battle that, chronologically speaking, make no sense and have no reason to be present.
What did IS mean by this?
Looking back, Awakening had terrible map design. Especially this chapter.
>Fire Emblem has always been tasteless you meme
Explain. And even if that were true, it's now on a whole new level with Fates.
What?! He did good art for Fire Emblem.
Tiki, Lyn, almost every Pegasus Rider in the series, the games have always had pandering, bordering on fetishistic designs.
There is something wrong with those eyes.
?
What's wrong with that Tiki? Is it the skirt or something? Nowi looks far worse to me.
Nowi is loli pandering dialed up to 11, but Tiki definently pandered to the same group.
Didn't you even read what the other guy said?
>And even if that were true, it's now on a whole new level with Fates.
Mini skirts are one thing, characters literally walking on their panties is another. It's even shit from a fanservice perspective, what happened with that thing of hiding it to make it more exciting? Those moments where the camera aligned just right for you to find out he color of the pantsu?
Gone.
Eh, honestly I think that Camilla's choice of attire makes more sense for flying than mini skirts. And there are plenty of modest female attires if that's bothering you.
No, it doesn't. Even miniskirts are impractical because of chaffing, and you come and say that literal panties on a saddle are better?
>Complains about Camilla
>Posts Minerva
Both have equally stupid armor, user.
Obviously the best outfits were in 4 and 5. Just look at these motherfuckers. Check out Finn and Cuan's awesome capes. I love these fucking outfits
4 was /fa/ as fuck but literally no one had armor besides Arden.
>Who is Holyn, Beowulf, Jamka, Aira, Brigid, Alec, Noish
That's just the first gen
Actually even Lachesis had some armor in some of the official art where she wasn't wearing that princess dress
Christ that ugly ass style with those puffy as fuck tufts
Plebeian
That was the popular anime style diring that specific time period.
Just like every other FE game adapting to the periods annie may style
Reminds me of LotGH for some reason
I really like 80s 90s anime style, but there is one thing i don't like about it. they tend to have very simplistic clothing.
Why do Quan, Finn and Leif all have the same hairstyle? is it popular in Manster?
Nowi is literally perfect, fag.
Maybe if you're a pedophile. And don't give me any of that "b-but she's thousands of years old" bullshit. It's the body type that counts
All pedophiles should be hung
>"b-but she's thousands of years old"
I wouldn't mind characters like this so much if they didn't act like literal kids.
If you fuck a 14 year old that looks like an 18 year old the body type will not matter.
I didn't really like that map in FE7, it wasn't terrible but I remember spending 10 minutes just trying to reach those enemies tucked into all those nooks and crannies.
My problem with Nowi is the clothing and the fact that she can get married. That's how I feel like she panders to the loli club while tiki does not. To the best of my knowledge I don't believe Tiki can ever get married in Fire Emblem Monshou no Nazo and her clothes are a lot more modest when compared to Nowi's.
How long has the loli fetish even been a thing?
