Final Fantasy XIII

Come on OP, there are far worse games, but there aren't any worse Final Fantasy games.

Mario Party 10

Bloodborne.

Last Fall of Gaia

t. haven't played Final Fantasy 1 or 2

FF1 isn't bad at all. FF2 though...

Witcher 3

Slave zero for the dreamcast

Most every other AAA pile of trash being released. Every FF since 10. Plenty of other games.

You people need to dial your expectations back. There exists an idealistic standard for video games that literally none can satisfy.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

horizon zero dawn

...

Horizon zero dawn

I can name 500 games

>Super Meme coming through

ET the extra terrestrial

>FFXV sold 5 million copies while Deus Ex Mankind Divided tanked and will never get another sequel

I'm starting to think consumers ARE the problem with this industry because they're buying all the shit games and ignoring the good ones.

Undertale
horizon zero dawn
your favorite game

>FF13 is bad meme

Here we go, I thought you people would have gotten over their little obsession of saying this.

Fuck your meme shit it's the goddamn truth

>I-IT GETS GOOD AFTER TWENTY HOURS

its a very PRETTY corridor but what i wanted was world maps, exploring, talking to npcs, buying shit in towns.

so i rate it as shit

as someone who has played every final fantasy, and pre-ordered the limited edition of 13.

13 was a steaming pile of shit.

15 was a misguided abomination, it had the potential to be a lot better but all the good stuff seemed to be cut out and rearranged.

You never played the game OP, so it's no use to make comparisons.

Undertale

>linear and boring, no exploration
>combat plays itself
>story sucked
>sidequests were all lame fetch/hunt
at least it looked nice but user, it was a bad game

Name one final fantasy main title game that is actually good gameplay wise before post game.

>Its the goddamn truth
Except for all the success and positive reviews in both critics and fans.

And no, the game gets interesting by chapter 3. That's when the game actually starts.

Except those linear designs worked better and helped the game. Look at FF12 and how it was an incomplete offline MMO.

No it's not.

Wrong.

>Turned big event bosses into borefests
>QTE guards and autododging
>hold-button combat with little variation (the occasional pause-combo move, and some generally awful d-lefts).
>Made magic less a tool and more a "skip boring fights" button.
>First FF since FF9 to use boring cutscene summons, and managed to make them even worse with them activating in dumb ways.
>The main mixup is teamattacks which are more basic than KH2's Limits, and also lack the resource management, so are just spammable iframes.
>Item usage is straight dumb, when they not only got this right back in KH1, but also in 13 LR.

If you like this game, get the fuck out of Sup Forums.

FFX-2.

FFV.

>this faggot thought it would be okay to like FFXIII now that FFXV is out

No nigga.

I genuinely want to like this and play it at some point but I can't get over hold one button to combat.
I know you can just press it if you really want, but it's not the same. Is it as jarring as it sounds? I couldn't really get along with the demo because of it, but the demo barely let you do anything.

Outside of the combat what does the game even offer? I don't follow all the praise when the bulk of it seems really simplified, is it just the story people love?

...

Reminder that XV was a total success. The only people complaining are loser Weebs.

FFXV is a game you can easily sink 60+ hours into. It might not be the best game but it's enjoyable.

There's far worse games, ones where you don't even want to play after an hour.

The game doesn't really bring anything to the table except a means to waste time until better games come out.

Horizon confirmed trash

Do you want to summon XV-kun?

>Except those linear designs worked better and helped the game.

except it didnt

there was plenty of times where i wanted to go exploring, like when you get to the first town with Lightning and Hope i went:

>oh cool! a town! maybe i can shop! get side quests!

then the game goes

>NOPE! you go down this corridor!

the only "world map" is pulse with a gigantic grass area filled with 200 monsters with a few corridors leading off of it.

Hell FF1 had more of a fucking world map

>FFXV is a game you can easily sink 60+ hours into.
Doing what, the combat is shit

pushing your car through the desert

the demo is a horrible indicator of the final product. Its just super comfy to tag along with your platonically straight bros as you do super mundane shit like fishing and dungeon diving. The combat is incredibly simplistic and has little depth but it looks nice and the combos performed with friends is cool. I also like how you can use whatever weapon type there is in the game and switch between them on the fly.

Apparently the story goes to shit past chapter 10 but I haven't made it that far so i cant say. I'm genuinely enjoying it; it doesn't feel like traditional ff so maybe that's why I'm enjoying it so much.

what's not?
FF13 a steaming pile of shit?
or
FFXV a misguided abomination?

I just want to gauge which kind of retard you are.

>how to trigger xv-kun

Superman64, that's about it.

12 > 6 > 15 > 10 > 13 > 8 > 7 > the rest

I want to say Final Fantasy XIII, but that has Fang and Lightning.

XV is one of the only games I've ever played where you literally cannot die (along with that stupid music box wario game). I have no idea what the fuck they were thinking. Sure almost every FF game is piss easy, but XV is a fucking joke. I didn't get "killed" for the first time until I was already halfway through the game, and when I realized they gave you a prompt to revive yourself EVEN AFTER YOU LOSE ALL YOUR HEALTH I just stopped playing. What the hell is the point of any of the combat mechanics when you can just mash buttons, spam healing items and win every fight?

Uncharted 1-4 and The Last of Us.
Fuck Sony's movie games

There are plenty

A much harder option would be to ask a game that didn't live up to the pre-release hype as bad as this one.

>much harder option would be to ask a game that didn't live up to the pre-release hype as bad as this one.
Metal Gear Solid 5

Appreciate the response lad but even based on that it seems in terms of actual gameplay it's rather dull. You even use the word mundane. Is the combat really that bad? I thought people were doing a few cool combos in the demo by switching weapons midway, but honestly I never felt the need to do any of it since holding attack was literally enough.
I'm all for comfy games, butI just don't go into an RPG expecting one. Not really seeing how it could even be worth a purchase

That one at least had fun and solid gameplay.

>Is the combat really that bad

Define "good"
Your standards may be different if you approach it as an rpg title, then yeah it's a more engaging and fun experience than many of its equivalents.

If you approach it more as an action game, it's utter trash and I can write a whole essay why.

Is holding one button really fun and engaging?

Is this actually true? Was thinking about buying it despite the ubisoft faces but thats some shit if true

It's a meme, it won't get you far if you just keep holding one button
But as a concept itself and the fact that most animations and gameplay tempo are built around that makes it leagues worse that it could've been.

Overwatch

every halo game.

>he didn't like XV, must not have actually played it

looks like the -kun is here

>It's a meme, it won't get you far if you just keep holding one button
Isn't that how the combat works though? Short of an occasional roll and maybe special move, seems like you're going to be holding that attack button when fighting.
That's the impression I got from the demo anyway

sometimes you have to hold the dodge button be 100% invincible

inb4 xv kun posts the webm of himself not using a phoenix down just to prove the game over screen exists

i need to know

USING ITEMS IS CHEESING

>managed to make a semi-decent game in 2.5 years
>was forced to release it early
>is hated

Meanwhile Nomura sat on his ass for years and gets his cock sucked by fags who wanted to play Final Fantasy Edgelord Vs13

Sounds shallow senpai
It's weird though, if they had the button there as attack without the option to just hold it in, I probably wouldn't mind it as much. With it there though, it throws it all off and I was hoping there was some indication that all is not as grim as it seems

>no one is forcing you to heal ;^)

I don't care how long it takes to make a game as long as it's good.

He released a mediocre game in a short time, so what?

The way they counter that in the game is giving enemies AOE or attacks with large hitboxes and superarmor, forcing you to be more careful and use hit-and-run tactics, warping in and out, etc.

But that combat design is pure trash because most of those attacks barely have any tells, enemy do not stagger consistently and instead are having stagger points, etc.

Basically the combat would be much better if it wasn't designed for old men with shakey hands revolving around holding the buttons in the first place.

Eh. There's warping, parrying, weapon swapping, magic, team attacks, and later armiger. But it is basically just button mashing since it's impossible to die. If there was ANY degree of threat or danger whatsoever it would actually be a serviceable combat system, but unfortunately that isn't the case.

>combat plays itself
We're not talking about XII though.

>2.5 years
Love this meme
They were working on it since 2012 which that hack Tabata mentioned in his interview when he was revealed to be the new director. They said that the fact they can deliver the demo is due to all the progress they made since then.

Shouldn't have scratched everything including story and gameplay midway through development.

Nier Automata, Tales of Berseria

I can't remember, but 2015 was riddled with forgotten games. This was one of them.

Overwatch

Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns
Final Fantasy XI
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy II

>black AI

WE WUZ SHODAN N SHIEET

>But that combat design is pure trash because most of those attacks barely have any tells
How did they manage to make a combat system like this. Surely tells are a vital part to any combat system

Sounds like I won't bother with it then unless it gets really cheap. It looks nice, I want to see what the fuss is about too, but with a combat system that's basic and shallow outside of occasionally looking flashy, I don't imagine I'll get along. I imagine there's no combo list either

It's not summer yet.

>managed to make a semi-decent game in 2.5 years
>was forced to release it early
Not only is this complete bullshit, but it isn't an excuse regardless. 2.5 years is plenty of time to make an excellent, complete game, especially with the budget and staff that they had. Also, EVERY game has to deal with deadlines; being "forced" to release the game early is the equivalent of not completing it in time, which is usually the result of poor planning.

Half Life 2

>sat on his ass for years
That is the opposite of what happened

NEVER
EVER

youtube.com/watch?v=WEKNUCjcrMY&t=1s

If it had had traditional inns instead of rest stop restaurants and hotels and horses instead of cars and magic mirrors instead of smartphones Sup Forums would have gobbled it up.

XIII is probably the worst game i've ever played. 50 fucking hours of a corridor with horrible characters and a really bad story? SE died with it.

The "poise" system is sort of like Dark Souls I guess. Smaller enemies are stunned by your attacks and won't retaliate if you combo them; larger enemies and other special snowflakes will poise through everything unless you stagger them.

Sometimes when an enemy attacks you'll get a parry prompt, which just means hitting the dodge button when the prompt appears on screen to do a counter attack. You don't actually have to time it correctly since you'll dodge the attack regardless as long as you hold the button. Since you can essentially be invincible by holding dodge and spamming parries, they gave the more "challenging" enemies unparryable attacks and massive AoEs.

>Except for all the success and positive reviews in both critics and fans.

None of which are objective. Critics can be compromised and fans are retarded for the most part.

>And no, the game gets interesting by chapter 3. That's when the game actually starts.

It's a problem when people are dropping a game during or after the prologue. The fact that it doesn't start until chapter 3 is not a glowing endorsement.

Every Final Fantasy IX has been shit, your fault for buying it.

Zelda BotW

More like 3.5-4 years and most of that time probably went into duscae and even that was downgraded in terms of questlines. I don't like Nomura but he worked on way more games if he wanted it or not in that time and 14 1.0 delayed games at that time by multiple years at least that's what Square said themself

epic

>all these plebs not realizing the gameplay is all about the warp strike and knowing which weapon animations have what effect
Sup Forums talking shit about things they know nothing about
like always
keep spamming those potions

so if i continue my lv42 team into a new game after clearing this once in 36 hours, what i´m in for with the second run?

ps. the free DLCs were dope, loving that chocobo noct skin atm

>There's far worse games, ones where you don't even want to play after an hour.

Final Fantasy XIII?

...

Kek

>XV is going for fast paced action orientated combat
>No combat strings let you launch an enemy
JUST

It just baffles me that all of those CGi cutscenes, the whole script of Versus and gameplay builds from 2011 and 2013 will just be lying within some depths of SE offices and will never make their way into people's hands

Sad!

Ride to Hell
