Depends. Der Langrisser has new added routes. Also they changed the overall balance of the game. MD version of 2 has the original balance. It's up to you really. I've seen some prefer the original version of 2 and others like Der more.

Mega drive has the best gameplay, saturn has a better story (including multiple routes)+ voice acting and stuff.

Huh, what did you like about it? I played a bit and couldn't really get into it because the gameplay was so different.

The music was excellent and the girls were still kind cute

Not the same user but Langrisser 3 for PS2 was pretty good regarding story and characters while the gameplay was kinda fun.

The only downside i felt in the gameplay was that you cant really target either the commander or its troops.

Its also nice to see how Boser was before he became Chaos avatar (You literally fight 3 Bosers in the game).

In my opinion this is only tolerable for games like Langrisser where you go from battle to battle. Playing through Growlanser that way was really annoying because I had to search to find every piece of NPC dialogue (which was often missing).

Langrisser 1(Warsong as it's localized name overseas) is decent but like most first games in a series. It's still rough around the edges. 2 is translated and considered one of the better ones in the series. 4 is also good.
