Underappreciated Games Thread

>muh overwatch
>muh zelda
>muh mass effect
>muh for honor

Same boring shit, every day.

Recommend a game which is rarely, never, or no longer discussed on Sup Forums.

Whenever somebody talks about something different, they get bashed for it.
>shows new indie game
>OMG THOSE FLASH GAME GRAFIX
>shows anything
>HAHAHA IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE GUNS IN THE GAME

Go play Orcs Must Die

The Tomorrow Children for MUH TECHNOLOGY. Bit of a dull game though
Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is pretty good
Woah Dave! is fun enough for free on PS+, as is Pix the Cat

'Splosion Man and Ms Splosion Man are pretty GOAT too but literally never mentioned here. Some of my favourite platformers last gen

Xenosaga,ep3. Part 2 was garbage ,one was pretty decent. Part 3 had some crazy shit going on.

Bleed, a nice 2D platformer/reflex shooter type of deal. It's short and does one thing, but does it well. A good purchase for a couple of hours of gameplay, six or seven if you want to get 100% completion. The sequel was recently released. I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but the reviews have been positive, so it should be alright.

TrafficWorlds had its week on Sup Forums.

black and white

Sword of the stars 1
Eversion
Agree of Wonders 1
Infinifactory
Magrunner Darkpulse
Counter attack
Kotor2
What do you like senpai?

bump

No one talks about sports games
Or Kinect Games. I swear Rise of Nightmares was good.

Shovel Knight.
Better get it in the current sale, it gets a price hike after it's over.

Shovel Knight gets discussed lad, even I've heard of it

I'm currently replaying Shadow Hearts Covenant, and I'm very close to naming it the best jrpg I've ever played.

Easily recommended.

it's talked about frequently but
>battleborn

I have played some flash games that are more fun than AAA shit.
Try mike shadow I paid for it

How about a nice cup of liber-tea?

PATA PATA PATAPON!

Furi
The Beginner's Guide
F.E.A.R (1, Extraction Point, Perseus Mandate)

Demon. It's a free monster collecting roguelike with a ton of character and party customization that draws a lot of inspiration from Shin Megami Tensei games. It also uses a tileset like Crawl Stone Soup so you don't need the standard Roguelike autism to understand or play, but it almost never gets brought up in the occasional roguelike threads.

Arx fatalis

Timesplitters

Played it last night and it wasnt terrible

One of the most underrated PS2 games ever. Imagine this shit on current gen.

Is there an ascii version? tilesets kill it for me.

>Furi
The dash mechanic ruins this game. Close, but western developers just can't design shooting games.

I genuinely believe a remade online version of this would be incredible.

Star Control 2

seconded. solid game, doesn't try to be anything it's not. good gameplay loops if you like both TDs and """third-person-shooters"""

>The Beginner's Guide

Apparently I own this. It must have been in a $1 bundle. Is it a walking simulator or something?

It's on sale now? Thanks.

I had heard of the price increase and was hoping it would go on sale again before spring.

are you implying For Honor is overappreciated?

I post this game every time we have a hidden gems thread. It's the best racing game out there.

Emulated this, fun as fuck but was disappointed by how short and easy it is to an adult. There's a ton of leader abilities that you don't realistically unlock unless you grind and then there's nothing to use them on.

This is another card game I think would be a lot more successful today if it was remade with a similar concept.

Eversion was pretty great, managed to play it blind somehow

No it's made in Unity so doesn't have one as far as I know.

I want people to play
>Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed
>Helldivers
>Spelunky (this is the closest game I can think of to a 10/10)
>Space Channel 5 and P2

Original War.

Name better RTS/RPG hybrid game.

You cant.

>inb4 Spellforce

"Generic" units were no-names like in usual RTS games, in OW ALL your units are named and with skills that carries over. Or not, if you lose them.

I finished the game around 5 times total and would still do that again.

Fuck, most of the Xbox Arcade titles just disappeared into the aether when the 360 went kaput

Kingdom for Keflings was some ace shit

...

Dark Souls motherfucker!

Unless you're afraid.

Steins;Gate

Absolute masterpiece of a visual novel, wonderful merge of traditional otaku tropes with an actually interesting premise based off of real world myths and has accurate and interesting science backing it up

Imagine if games like MGS had to sit and describe how every supernatural thing works. Steins;Gate does that, you self insert as the MC because the game makes sure you understand everything he's doing with really great analogies and lots of exposition.

One of the best pieces of time travel media since Groundhog Day.

I recommend /vr/ then. You're in the wrong place.

>Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed
Was always one of those games I intended to buy at some point but never did

Looked like it'd be good local multiplayer fun but with the PS4 releasing, chance has passed 2bh

there is literally always a souls thread on Sup Forums

I hate tower defense games but Orcs Must Die 2 with a friend was dope as fuck

Xbox Live was a pretty great platform, Summer of Arcade was always a highlight.
Microsoft made the right move in making some of the title Backward Compatible so they're not completely irrelevant

Katamari series

It's just a fun and relaxing series with great music

Dwarf Fortress

I haven't seen a thread in years. I think it's just discussed on /vg/ now.

PaRappa

You can get it on PC but I don't know if it has local play. It does have the largest roster of characters, even some fucking E celebs are in there for some charity drive that happened

Severance: Blade of Darkness
Done.

Yeah boy

>rarely discussed

Alundra seems like a pretty good, but yet underrated game.

Yet i have never ever seen a thread for it

You have people posting fucking dark souls, dwarf fortress, shovel knight and furi and you pick my post out?

VN's are pretty niche for neo-Sup Forums, just look at the outrage half the underages had when they realised va-11 hall-A was a visual novel and didn't have enough gameplay for them

Shock Troopers

Not enough people love these games, so we just get more SMT/Persona shit.

I tried to start a Sunless Sea/Skies thread back when the kickstarter was announced, but noone replied.
I remember Sup Forums talking about it before, does anyone here still like it?

Condemned: Criminal Origins
>tfw there will never be another good FPS melee horror game

Yes, but out of all VN's you pick the one that has threads almost daily? Besides, Furi isn't really talked about anymore and the rest are shitposts.

Card games recommendation thread?

I just finished Baten Kaitos Origins and I loved it.

>Daily

haven't seen one in at least a good 5 days

...

Do you check the catalog? If not then you're probably never around when we have one. And if you really get desperate Sup Forums most certainly will have a thread, lord knows why.

both gravity rush games

was just about to ask this.
in a real cardy mood

I didn't think I'd ever see this game on Sup Forums. It's one of the defining games of my childhood, played that shit all the time.

Rise of the Argonauts

My nigger

>loved parappa
>saw um jammer lammy in the store when it came out
>didn't buy it because you'd have to play as a girl and I was an insecure as fuck kid
>regret to this day

anyone play haven & hearth? stolen ss

Imagine playing a Metal Gear Solid game but you control and entire squad instead of just Snake.

Warcraft any of them

I hear so much praise for this game too I will have to check it out but when I was younger and looking into it the game seemed like edgy trash. I hope i'm wrong.

I started playing last Monday. Just entered my iron age.

MOVE
DEFENSE

this game would be like 100x better at 20%+ speed

...

Only time I see this posted is in nigger hand ps4 collection threads

>gay luchador vampire who fights with a giant tuna
>main character who unironically shouts BAAAAACON because it's the villains name

Early
00s
As
Fuck

If you like "retro"/pixel shit games try Oniken and Odallus, great games if you don't mind the graphics

i loved this game.
but only the first 9-10 mission.
i can't understand how this game can be short (13 mission) but repetitive at the same time...

...

played solo for two months in previous world, got fucked by the troll at level 4 mines
started playing with friend in new world, but he got bored after couple of days and i had no desire to play alone again

...

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction and its sequel, World in Flames.

A really cool TPS with faction elements and enormous destructible environments. I don't think any other game ate up so much of my adolescence.

And that main theme!
youtube.com/watch?v=szzZQwawELc

Most people probably just know the series for it's sequel's commercial.
youtube.com/watch?v=NcJyCdbC08c

In my opinion there was a learning curve there. After the fifth or so mission in you should have been competent enough that you were able to set up huge kill chains.

But they kept the Yuki cheese in there until the very end just to make sure anyone could complete it.

All that shit going on and all the player is doing is holding down LMB.

Fucking aRPGs and their shit gameplay.

The gameplay was pretty bad but I loved the shit out of the story and characters

Play Yakuza Zero pleb

Odin sphere is on sale. Also I'm thinking of getting Dungeon Travelers 2. I enjoy the demo but never play a game from the genre before.

We had Yakuza threads since 0 got released to this day

Then play the previous ones

...

Always loved the intro scene with the rat assassin.

1 is okay, 2 & 3 are great.

I've never felt as cool in a video game as I did when you're doing a helicopter pickup for a target. Walking slowly up to the heli, dust blowing all around you, music's playing, still some explosions going on behind you as friendlies protect you from the remaining enemies. Put target on heli, it takes off, freeze frame. Beautiful.

Only MGSV came close, but even it wasn't quite the same.

Both of these.

htoL#NiQ is basically anime Limbo with shoddy controls but really good everything else, from atmosphere to level design to narrative.

Yomawari is basically an RPG Maker horror game with a budget. Wander around a town at night and spooky shit goes down. Shame about that 50 hour plat, though - you're gonna be idling for about 40 of those hours.

Evolve.

Not even close. You dont have unique, named units with growing skills and changeable classes that carry on from mission to mission.

My summer car.
There were occasional threads popping out but they died eventually.
Its a decent game none the less.

God, the heli pick-ups were great. Honestly, I think that the pick-up missions in Mercs, where you'd raid a loaded enemy compound and fuck it up enough to make it safe for your allies to follow and extract the target, are very close to MGSV's level of excitement. I always liked playing as Mui, too, because her stealth potential was fun.

The coolest part of the game, though, was winching tanks and using them as wrecking balls.

>implying buttom spamming is any better than this
>implying it doesn't turn into button spamming anyway when facing heroes and bosses
Off yourself.
