The game is significantly slower and have less actions to do when at low Rank. You actually have to train each skill like feinting fast, wearing armor effectively and protecting yourself from hits better.

You have to manually get all your gear from the store. The AI gets gear proper for each rank. The store fills with random gear every ~5 matches.

If you mean the practice arena you have to loot that shit from everyone you beat.

Have you checked the inventory tab so you got all tiers properly equipped? The slider thing at the top. Sometimes you lose shit for reasons I don't know yet. I just tried trumping a grill on novice challenger and he had his master gear.
