WW drops to 15fps in the initial island for me. Probably a CPU issue. Dunno if I should upgrade and wait for BotW to be emulable, or buy a Switch...

That's because it was 1.7.1. That always ran like shit for everyone. The new update has better optimization and actually can run fullspeed at least for Wind Waker. I tried Mario Kart 8 and it is 1 fps higher then it was before.

I have three copies of the game. Snake Eater and two copies of subsistence. I play them directly off the DVD-ROM.

Actually yes, 1.7.2c. I have an i5-3330 3.0Ghz and a AMD RX 470.

If you have the game already you can just pop it into a BD-DVD drive and rip it.

If not, you can rent one from Red-box, get it from gamestop, or just go on TPB irc and see which downloads aren't shit.

It always has ran really well. This new boost probably helps a ton too. I'm guesisng it still has a lot of audio bugs but hopefully now the blinking red lights are gone. That shit burns.

It sets the accuracy of the visuals I think. In TP:HD textures go flying all over the place and becomes seizure inducing unless you set it to high.

on 1.7.1 wind waker was running at 30fps when looking at close distances, medium to far at 15fps.
1.7.2 is huge improvement though, now it is running at 30fps except when looking at far distances with detail e.g that mountain in first island.

Power has very little to do with emulation. It was just well documented and didn't have some meme architecture like the ps2 or ps3.

What are your settings for Wind Waker?

I'll get CEMU once Zelda BotW works on it.

I'm not in a rush though, too many other games to play right now until summer, and then probably fro the rest of the year.

Considering both Switch and WiiU versions have massive framerate issues (portable mode being the only decent way to play BotW right now) I am glad CEMU is a thing. I also won't have to waste 400€ on a Switch and can be smart about it and only get one after a hardware revision, or a huge pricedrop + good bundle.

I just dumped shader cache I had from the old cemu build and am loading it up now. CPU is set to host based timer since the other cuts fps in half. I''ll play around with the GPU buffer cache as well and see if it makes a difference.

No they're not, cemu is the most recent usable console emulator and it will run on pretty much anything that resembles the original console's GPU provided you have a good enough CPU.

HD version isn't even worth emulating. The new lighting is fucking atrocious

With a low-mid range GPU, that kind of CPU would have to be at least 5 GHz or something, which is just unrealistic. Stop spouting bullshit, you do need a good GPU if you want to make the leap from "shaky 17-30 FPS" to "30 FPS with only occasional hiccups", at a decent resolution.

Most games crash on the initial loading screen for me. I was able to play Xenoblade Chronicles X with half the screen covered in multicolored static for about 20 minutes though
