IV is a much slower burn than V, but is otherwise the superior game.

The car physics and car damage was way better in 4. Car damage in 5 is literally just scrapes and bumps and you gotta hit something REALLY fucking fast just to bend a fender

I've owned all the GTA games on Steam for years and still haven't played them. I'm probably older than most of the rest of you faggots here as well but a backlog is a hell of a thing.

The Free Roam experience, mainly. In V I just wanted to play the next setpiece mission. In IV I found myself going on 15 minute rampages just because of how fun it was to torture people and the more interesting variety of cops

I prefer the gritty realism of IV.

V was a reaction to that; Rockstar poured their heart and soul into showing what the HD generation could accomplish in terms of generating an actual city only for SA fanboys to bitch about 'muh jetpack' and 'muh airplanes', so they tweaked the graphics a little bit, came up with a CUHRAZYYYY plot, and created an online system designed to bilk retards out of their money. The games are almost entirely the same otherwise.

Taking the tugboat out into foggy weather while that Phillip Glass music blasted was always cool as fuck.

The patch did jack shit for me. Runs at 60 then randomly flies down to 20 and lower.

jazz nation radio was also patrician, really fit the atmosphere of the game. tbogt dance stations were good too.

Rockstar North has lost their way, their last two games were just okay-average

V has a nicer world, but going on a killing spree in IV was much much much more fun. Driving into crowded streets and watching people fly, then blowing up your car after bailing out. Explosions had a lot more oomph too, and coupled with the ragdolls they were much more spectacular and powerful.

Then again I'm just a sucker for that kind of physics.

I have it on xbox 360 and ot runs like shit on there too. 720p with frame drops everywhere. I could probably run it just fine in 720p on my pc but the game looks like crap stretched out.

GTA IV's problems are in inconsistency with different hardware. Some CPU's / GPU's run it like dog shit even though they are leagues beyond what minimum specs call for. There's nothing to know it either runs on your hardware or it doesn't.

GTA or any "open world" game aren't fun for me anymore. GTA was fun until San Andreas then the novelty wore off. The missions are pretty shit and boring and I'd always end up just doing minigames or killing cops and shit. I played Vice City the most though. I think it was cause of the music and atmosphere.
