Arcade opens in the empty third anchor of mall

>arcade opens in the empty third anchor of mall
>visit, expecting dave & busters redemption game iphone app bullshit
>lots of newer japanese games and weeb shit like dissidia, the newest bemani/DDR, Theatrythm All-Star Carnival
>mario kart arcade, obviously, and a bunch of other racing games, even older ones like hydro thunder, F-Zero AX, and new shit like a rail shooter that moves like a motion ride
>get to the sit-down cabinet section, all viewlix cabinets
>every Street Fighter, TvC, MvC2, Tag Tournament 2, Tekken 7, Darkstalkers, Melty Blood, Tetris the Grand Master
>multiples of every game
>but they aren't connected so no multiplayer
>signs for the games are poor-quality printouts taped to the top of the cabinets
>configured wrong, missing characters, wrong time limits/difficulty, aspect ratio is fucked, jaggies everywhere on 3D games

It was so close to being perfect. I wanted to cry.

Tell me about your arcade experiences, Sup Forums

I'd be nice and offer to help them with that for free.

I did. The guy I flagged down tried to say some bullshit about how they only enable multiplayer on fridays and saturdays to "avoid stress on our servers upstairs"
>it is friday
>this is a one-story building
He got the manager, who I tried to talk to, he had the mall cops throw me out and accused me of trying to hack their games.

That's awful, my sympathies OP

At least it sounds like you got to play a lot of cool shit before everything got ruined.

At the very least I'd try to help them and make them better signs.

Also sounds like the manager is retarded, any way to contact the owner?

F-Zero AX machines are really rare in the US. Where is this?

Bullshit. What really happened, Chris-chan? Did they get Sonic's arms wrong again?

>configured wrong, missing characters, wrong time limits/difficulty, aspect ratio is fucked, jaggies everywhere on 3D games
Nothing triggers me more than shit like this. Particularly the use of shitty LCD screens for games clearly designed for 4:3 arcade monitors.

Philadelphia.

complain on yelp. This usually works for stubborn staff that the owners know nothing about.

I would talk to the owner and let him know what sucks. That's the only way the business can improve, don't be a pussy and dont be passive agressive about it like going to yelp and shit, just go talk to him.

Round 1, right?
I know that pic is Round 1 but I'm not sure if it's yours or just something you got off google.

I have one near me but they barely ever maintenance the bemani games and it has a bunch of Cave shmups but they have them in shitty widescreen LCD cabs so the aspect ratio is fucked.

It is.

That sounds like my experience. Do you think it's worth trying to talk to the owner?

>man i sure wish arcades weren't dead :(
>WHY THE FUCK ARE THERE SO MANY NORMIES RUINING THE ARCADES WHAT THE FUCK REEEE

Monkeypaw bitches

Probably not. At least in my store, the bemani community complains a lot and they don't really do anything.

The shitty thing is that most of the time it's just a bad microswitch or something that any of us could replace ourselves in two minutes, but the staff just won't do anything about it.

>WHY THE FUCK ARE THERE SO MANY NORMIES RUINING THE ARCADES WHAT THE FUCK REEEE
This isn't what's going on, try reading the thread.

>it has a bunch of Cave shmups

which ones?

fucking lol at having cave games on 16:9 lcds- are the screens even rotated into portrait?

Things that certainly happened...

They are rotated, it's just 16:9 so it's stretched really tall. These games shold never be on anything but a 4:3 CRT.

We have Espgaluda II, Dodonpachi Daioujou, and Mushimesama Futari. There's also Strikers 1945 II and Twinbee for non-cave. There used to be Deathsmiles and some Darius game too but they both disappeared a while ago.

>be me about a decade ago, big city in smalll state
>only two malls in town, one is basically a glorified wallmart, the other is your standard affair with the chillest arcade I've seen
>2 stories, food counter, and a bowling lane off to the side, with a laser tag place next door
>decide to git gud on a tekken arcade machine, start ripping shit with king
>eventually gotten gud enough to make the high scores table, then first place
>decide to be that guy and sweep the high scores table, this takes me the course of 7 or 8 trips to this mall and about a month or 3
>finally get close, only need two more high scores
>gang shooting happens at the very center of the mall while I'm not there, shuts the entire thing down for a few days
>when it reopens, no one goes anymore
>fast forward to a decade later, the arcade has been closed for years and the mall as a whole is going under

Still managed to sweep the high score table though desu

>DOJ on a 16:9 LCD

fuuuck. where is this?

I play DOJ on my 16:9 LCD (not even rotated, the thing is too big and it's a hassle, just play with black bars) but I have no choice, it was a lot better when I had my CRT and would rotate it.

the input lag must be insane too if it's an LCD, how is that good for a game like DOJ

>fuuuck. where is this?
It's the Taunton MA location

>the input lag must be insane too if it's an LCD, how is that good for a game like DOJ
I don't feel any input lag. I'm pretty sure these LCD cabs have minimal input lag, lag is just as bad for the 3D fighters they're made for as it is for shmups.
It feels far more responsive there than emulated on shmupmame on a sub-5ms monitor, it just looks like shit.

>go to an arcade in a mall
>house of the dead 2 has worn out triggers, making it extra hard to shoot anything

>marvel vs capcom 2 has part of the right screen cut off

>capcom vs snk 2 is darkened at the top of the screen

>most of the racing games have their wheels not properly adjusted evenly

Indian springs mall?

There's a Hollywood Bowl in Milton Keynes (within Xscape) that has some cool arcade games like Mario Kart Arcade GP DX and Time Crisis 5: True Mastermind Edition.
There was also this CeX in Weston Favell that had a free 2-player arcade machines that had hundreds of different games but that got wore down. First the 2-player button didn't work and then they just shut it down. It's still there, they just don't turn it on.

Who /8onthebreak/ here? I'm so glad I have a place somewhat nearby where I can get my Initial D fix.
I'd like to play with some Sup Forumsirgins sometime.

Has anyone ever wanted to buy an arcade machine?
I've been thinking of buying one and seeing if I can install MAME onto it.

>Have arcade that has upkept maintenance for years on end with no broken machines BUUUUT
>About the only Beatmania III : THE FINAL machine I've ever seen
>Gets sold somewhere else
>Has a F-Zero AX cab
>Gets sold somewhere else
>Gets Daytona 2, Sunset Riders, and Mamba A Go Go
>Gets sold somewhere else
>Gets two iphone app cabs with Fruit Ninja and Doodle Jump
>Keeps both of them and the DDR version is still just Extreme. Not even Supernova 1.

Nah, crossroads

I was once in London and found this amazing arcade (Las Vegas Arcades Soho)
They had a bunch of unique shit, like a Taiko drum machine, TheBishiBashi, and Dance Dance Revolution A (they were doing a location test when I was there).

Speaking of london, The Heart of Gaming (a gaming place with a ton of shit and you only have to pay to get in) is re-opening in Centrale & Whitgift March 4th.
