No. Mega Evolution was just a way for them to pander even further. Like Charizard and Mewtwo getting two forms while others get fucking nothing. Most Pokemon didn't get them, and only the popular ones ever got them. I'd rather take old Pokemon but with newer base forms, types, and abilities over that other shit

At least it was still an actual challenge. In ORAS they just put a bunch of ladders that had you walking with no thought because you were basically just going from dialogue to dialogue. It's the kind of section that could have been played automatically and it would've been the exact same.

The only argument I've heard against her is essentially "she's not perfect", i.e "she's not a Mary Sue and has character flaws that contribute to the flow of the story"

I think the issue is more that it was implied she nearly got the world fucked over not once but twice over a theory. It may have helped if, say, she actually had evidence of there being another dimension and that the whatever it was called was gonna send it to that other world. However, she just says "No that's what's gonna happen!" She also comes across as overly self-righteous and smug and almost like a crazy person.

Which not only is optional, but still isn't as bad as being able to easily catch a mon that is TWENTY LEVELS OVER THE FUCKING E4 AND SOLO IT WITH IT.

There's absolutely no reason for it to not be crumbling the first time you go in though. Nothing but the floor threatens you in Emerald, in RS it was everything, and in ORAS it was all those consecutive fights at the end.

Yes there is, it was the time Nintendo started thinking about how the younger audience would start losing interest to a game if it was too difficult. I remember spending a good hour on the Sky Pillar because I didn't know repels were a thing and that floor where you have to precisely time the moment you stop moving with your bicycle because it kept moving for a moment after you let go the d-pad. Honestly I still have fun, but, to Pokemon standards, shit was kinda difficult for a younger audience. That's why they would rather make the Sky Pillar easy when you're "forced" to be here for plot purpose, and then, make the place a challenge again to catch Rayquaza as a side quest.
What they did for ORAS was shit though, but the soundtrack was cool
