When it's a jap meme is fine. Otherwise is fucking cancer.

cringe

...

Well, some things can be done well. I can't say that's the case here. The phrase itself would've been fine once. A villain who has shrugged off all of the hero's attacks so far and used his own considerable power to knock him down is condescending to the hero. But no that's half his dialog.

Why do I find the Megamix comics so much better than the Archie ones?

Probably because Megamix isn't reliant on sitegags and doesn't limit the game adaptation to 5 pages per master.

It's probably because Agira making the robots more stylistic makes them more interesting to look at. Also he does a better job of setting everyone up as a threat.

Airman only got 3 during his initial appearance though

In commemoration of our love for the better Mega Man comic, I've taken the liberty of redownloading Chapter 2 (which happens to be my favorite, aside from the Skull Man arc) to post here. Plus I've been meaning to revisit it, but I hope posting goes quick because I have to get ready for work soon

>minute delay and captcha each post

Fuck, what did I get myself into. Fuck it, already started

...

...

Right, and Bubbleman appeared and blew up in on the next page.

The Archie comics were 28 pages without ads in some places. They didn't have the space to give focus to the entire roster of characters Wily brought every time he started up shit.

...

...

...

...

speaking of focus, there's too much fucking filler inbetween the game arcs, i've just recently started reading it and this is driving me fucking insane

i don't give two flying fucks about this stupid pic related OC i just wanna see Protoman already

...

I don't know what it is, but I somehow vaguely remember reading this in higher quality with bigger images. So sorry if I'm actually posting a lower quality version of Chapter 2

where's the yaoi rape?

>changes color in between panels with no mention
trash

Flashman is great.

Because the writing is more organic.

Ariga makes some questionable changes, not to mention some that are just plain laughable (the super serious art style does NOT work for Dr. Light and the writing is a bit clunky because it doesn't balance the silly as much as it should), but he approaches the source material as a guide on the elements that will be included in a story rather than a structure for which a story should be built around. Because of this, despite the extreme similarity of the games, each story is unique in its tonality, pacing and delivery. You don't know exactly what's going to happen in any given chapter.

In Flynn's comic, the game is law and we must abide by it as much as possible. We're going to go through every single stage, comment on the stage hazards, and fight every boss one-on-one with equal importance. This is fucking poison to storytelling, because by the time you hit your third Robot Master you know exactly what every single encounter is going to be like from this point forward. The comic becomes formulaic and predictable, and there's no substance behind what it's presenting. Nothing anyone says or does matters because nobody is actually important to anything or matters to the flow of the story.

Archie Megaman has a ring of light circle him and 2 colors when he switches powers, and it's in that frame too.

I like how his buster turns into a machine gun spreader later

...

>They didn't have the space to give focus to the entire roster of characters Wily brought every time he started up shit.
My fucking ass.

They didn't have time because the characters were compartmentalized. You can flesh out an even bigger group in fewer pages than the average Archie Mega Man arc. Christ, look at Giant Size X-Men #1.

...

...

Funny that you mention Protoman, because the wrtier was planning to ship him with the OC and would have done so if the comic wasn't cancelled.

...

...

...

That's also a fair enough point, but also part of the "masters get 5 pages" premise. Even if they were constantly chatting with one another on a radio and got establishing shots there's not much character development format permits.

And if we highlight that was comparative to Agira, who also had a sequential boss fights, he had 300 pages instead of 120 to finish an arc. Which works better for the format.

...

...

...

I forgot to mention: Why is Cut Man such a qt?

...

Heat Man can rival Cut Man's cuteness tho

Because Cutman a cut.

...

Ariga wastes plenty of pages because he has the freedom to do so. The core of what he writes can easily be compressed into that page space, and even then you can restructure the plot in accordance to what does or doesn't matter.

There's no need to approach the robots one by one if you don't have the page space for it.

...

I prefer MSPM myself

Not sure if I dig Crash Man's design here desu

But Metal Man's design is super spot on here

I'd be 100% totally cool and fine and fine and cool with original content. Because... there is dick all to work with from ingame sources that got released in any English speaking country. If MM&B didn't get that GBA release then all there'd be to go on would be MM8 and emotes from sprites.

An issue for Mega Man to get involved in shouldn't be difficult
"Mega Man has to save a blimp from Airman"
or
"Mega Man goes shopping and trouble starts"
or
"Mega Man takes a vacation and only Rush answers when the Police Chief calls"
or
"Mega Man goes on a date but downloads 1950s suave routine and wears a letterman jacket to a rave"

Could all be perfectly fine premises for comic book stories staring Mega Man. Mega Man is put into a situation he has to use abilities he has to stop a crime or disaster in progress. He does, or occasionally doesn't, and occasionally secondary characters feature in these events. But not if all of them are in same short book. Or even suggested to be happening in a span of 40 minutes.

Doing a sequential adaptation of every encounter Mega Man had with every master was just quicksand. It would have taken 11 full years to tell those stories at the rate the comics were at, and they clearly wanted to move passed having to retread and introduce everyone.

...

I really like how Ariga can make even Bubble Man look pretty badass

...

I guess Ice Man can be pretty cute too

H-Haiyai unlike my posting speed

You don't need more than 3 pages. Robot masters are not super big characters with tons of backstory and plot and personality.

They are literal power ranger villain of the day tier hencemen.

...

...

CAN HE Sup Forums??!

...

Power Ranger and Captain Planet villains at least had stakes associated with them. The solo masters in Archie comics are just in places you expect to find them since you played the games.

...

...

...

...

And then Rock fugged Roll for all the hardships he went through.

Well that's it from me. Hope you enjoyed Sup Forums

i read the Megamix comics. too confusing in some regards. I liked the Archie comics better. too bad i can't find any more MEGA links to the Sonic comics.

The thing is that Ian loves his "deep lore" and winks and nods and "building to something greater." When you combine this with working on unfamiliar content, you get misplaced priorities. Even as early as issue 2 he was making lame references and trying to ser up for twists that don't matter.

As silly as it sounds given the pacing...the first arc should have been 1, Powered Up, and 2. Little concessions like having all the RMs attacking the city/Light's Lab at once and removing gaff like the virus subplot allows for the characters to be introduced, a status quo to form without boring the audience, and more opportunity to have breather issues when appropriate. You could get the backstory out of the way, dedicate time to Protoman, introduce OCs, and tell the Ra Moon story in a year. You could give an adaptation where each RM is tackled individually more impact if you didn't do it every time. By the third year they could EASILY introduce Bass (he was built before MM6) and start telling stories without being chained to adapting games even if 3, 4 and 5 were eight issues each!

Thanks user.

Why do I want to fuck airman all of a sudden holy shit.
