Death to turn based

Tell me at least 1 reason why would anyone use: turn based, point n click, 2D/top down for any kind of video game when the experience could be so much better told through a 3D environment with smooth combat mechanics and WASD movement.

Variety is the spice of life

If I had to pick one, I'd definitely pick isometric turn based, desu

Isometric squad combat is the way to do it.

They are like computer assisted board games. Which is pretty neat if you like that kind of stuff.

who bitch is dis?

>Turn based
Internet connection.
Turn based makes lags meaningless.

Also MOBA style would be a mess for games like Super robot wars.

>WASD
FOR FUCKS SAKE LET ME USE THE PS4 CONTROLLER.
XBOX ONE IS OK. EVEN WIIU GAMEPAD.
BUT NOT WASD SHIT!!

Timed hits

I already know about timed hits.

Actually complex actions.
Can't do that with a third/first person point of view and WASD movement.

There's nothing "complex" in Commandos that even some of the simpler sim shooters don't do.

Which simple sim shooter with third/first person view and wasd movement allows me to infiltrate an enemy compound while simultaneously controlling multiple characters with wildly different abilities and equipment quickly and smoothly ?

Taste.

There's people out there who like run-of-the-mill milk chocolate, others prefer the bitterness of dark chocolate, even others prefer white chocolate instead. And splitting them up even further are those who think only expensive chocolate counts (Lindt, Godiva, etc.) while others are perfectly fine picking up a Crunch bar that's been sitting on the counter for months at your average gas station.

You're free to call that 2D, Turn-based, point and click, etc shit taste is you want, but that doesn't mean you're free from shit taste yourself considering the only legit good thing you want is WASD, everything else is cancer.

>food analogies

Because of MONEY. Making a game control well is very hard in 3D. It doesn't take nearly as much money to design a decent/good turn based system than a real time system.

totally agree, and also why do people still make shit like platform games? FPS is better in every way. don't even get me started on WRPGS. survival games with crafting are the way games should be in 2017. worst of all, which is completely mindboggling is the fact that some retarded fucks still make games in 2D! I mean what the fuck, this shit isn't even subjective, a 3D game is objectively superior in literally every case.

There is literally nothing wrong with WASD movement

Go fuck yourself, I like me some chocolate and I'm hungry

>hates turn based
>plays real time games where you can pause and use items/change equipment/etc

erry time

Turn-based because people want combat to matter, want to have control over combat, and be more strategic. Like in Torment Numenera's case, the developers and the people who voted for TB combat wanted the system because TB kind of diminishes trash mobs. When you fight every encounter, you are almost always fighting important battles with mobs that can potentially fuck you up every time. When you don't have Turn Based, you are kind of forced to feed players trash mobs so it isn't tedious or boring, you're building up to the final battle.

Point and Click because people like to have a keyboard swashed with hotkeys/spells/abilities. When you are moving with the mouse, you have free reign to do whatever the fuck you want with the keyboard. Some games need it because

Isometric has it's uses for a lot of games, especially good for turn-based/strategy games for when you want to get a lay of the battlefield, and 2D/Isometric just looks fucking bad ass. It's a spice of life, I'd chose that any day over 3D.

If every game that came out was a '3D game with smooth combat mechanics and WASD' movement, there'd be no variety, for one thing.

It'd be like if all the movie industry produced was CG-heavy action flicks.
You might not like turn based or topdown but a lot of people do.

>why would anyone play chess instead of basketball

Kill yourself.

bait

Some people like turn based, some like real time i like both, and im glad they make both kinds of games.
