yeah, if all you do is play games i don't see why you need to upgrade all the time.
what game can't you run on 5 year old hardware?
>Intel is so shit! They haven't improved their processors that much if at all since Sandy Bridge!
>AMD is great! They put out a processor that equals Skylake (which equals Sandy Bridge), they're truly pushing the industry forward!
LMAO AMD catching up to where Intel was several years ago is no considered great?
>buying generic CPU
This is me right now.
I'm considering upgrading, but then I realize that I don't give a shit about AAA trash games and the good stuff doesn't need powerful hardware at all.
Would rather buy a Switch with games and accessories with the money.
Same here but I think I am gonna have to upgrade anyways. The only modern game I play is Men of War and I really need a better CPU so I can handle higher unit counts. Some of the newer releases like Call to Arms and even AS2 with the latest patches are getting really unoptimized.
I thought this too, until my city in C:S got to the point where it started lagging. Planet Coaster is also a resource hog, and I have to play it on medium-low settings.
...ARMA 3?
I'm curious how it'll run on Ryzen
Which Ryzen will be the sweet spot for gaming? I'm thinking the 1700 or 1700x.
lol amd hasn't had a good cpu in almost 7 years
>2500K
>16gb ram
>2X 980
My next big upgrade will be probably be the ti version of the generation after the 1080 I think. Then I might consider other internals.
The r5 lineup will probably be the sweetspot for the near future. It will take a while before games are actually optimized to take advantage of 8 cores/16 threads.
>wanted to buy VR

fuck, Vega better be as good as Ryzen
Rate my build
>Using a 2500k with two 980s
>Using SLI/Crossfire in 2017 anyway
Only on Sup Forums.
Why do you want to upgrade off your 2500k? I'm using it with a 970 and Everything I throw at it runs great. GTA5 has been the only game that slows it down if I have all settings maxed, but even then it never dips below 50.
If Vega is anything like Polaris, it'll be competitive, but it won't undercut Nvidia by a whole lot.
>The 6 core and 4 core variants will be available only in Q3
It's like they don't want Ryzen to be in gaming PC's...
>inb4 "GAMES WILL USE MORE THAN 4 CORES SOON! I KNOW ITS BEEN TOLD FOR 6 YEARS BUT THIS TIME ITS TRUE!"
>buy a amd system
>a amd
maybe you can add a part in your letter about how you didn't pass the 2nd grade
You dont need to know english to pass second grade here buddy
gas yourself kike
>have a good ol' i5 3570K clocked at 4.3
>been thinking if it's time to upgrade
>Ryzen around the corner
>"Maybe it's time to try AMD, I've always heard they are cheaper than inte.."
>prices are 409 to 630 dollaroos
>not even taking into account switching the mobo and new DDR4 sticks
Looks like I'll stick with my 3570 and 980ti for now.
I know this is bait but
>What is Athlon
I have the same CPU (overclocked of course) and haven't really bothered to think of upgrading. Everything runs completely fine after only upgrading my GPU.
probably the 1700, but wait for the lower tier ones if you can since they may provide more bang for the buck
Nice. Just bought an i5 7600k too for my newest build too. Hm.
It's not that the games aren't worthwhile, but they are heavily GPU dependent.
Being able to disregard a CPU upgrade is good, but you have to upgrade your GPU once every two years anyway.
Anything between R5 and R7.
R3 too if they are just as good when it comes to singlecore performance.
>I hate Intel
Does this have to become a fucking warzone material again now? Will you autists fight over everything? Consolefaggotry is bad enough, now we get to have PC fats fight each other?
A sane person would just be glad there's a cool new CPU line with excellent bang for buck and since there's some competition from AMD again Intel can't just sit on their ass, hopefully that will lead to CPUs becoming better quicker again, there has been a lull.
Company loyalty only benefits the kikes, you should buy anyone's product as long as it's currently the best one in your price range.
>tfw not falling for the jews tricks
>tfw all the juicy upcoming price drops on current hardware
>tfw you will get a build that will play your weeb games for dirt cheap
>Video isn't by Jayztwocents
DIDN'T WATCH!
So it took AMD over 7 years to bring out a CPU that rivals the CPU intel released 2 years ago and people go apeshit over it. Can someone explain why?
Because it means Intel will stop releasing shit.
They might actually get their asses in gear and aim higher than a 5% performance increase over the last line of chips.
Fucking this, the underage autists on Sup Forums will argue about anything.
CPUs (and for the matter, GPUs also) are expensive as fuck compared to how they were 5-6 years ago. If AMD manages to start a decent product line again, maybe the prices will drop due to competition, which is good for everyone.
because it means there's at least competition now
also, AMD's not only outperform but they're half the price as their intel counterparts, they're way cheaper. Intel is going to have to drop their prices now, it does them no good to charge $1000 for a CPU beaten by AMD's $500 one. That's what happens when there's even a little competition within a market, without any, even if it's short lived, you own the market and charge whatever the fuck you want.
Intel needs some competition so they reduce their jewish prices.
Now all we need is AMD to get their shit together at the gfx card department.
>He only watches Reddit endorsed spoonfeed vids aimed at converting console bambinos
I am so activated right now
They did in the low end market.
that's not linus
Everything they have
AMD have nailed their target market though
>AMD's not only outperform
No. They are releasing a CPU that can't beat Intel and Intel hasn't released anything that's worth upgrading too for ages.
Games already use more than 4 cores dumbfuck.
i only had a couple games i wanted to play but upgraded and now ive played like 20, ull find something once u actually can play games
Intel Shills really can't read nor see what customers want. Nobody wants to spend twice as much just to get a 10% performance increase.
>supporting sjwtel
I bought an i5 3570k 5years ago and it is still a really good CPU that outperforms pretty much everything AMD has released in the last 5 years.
Also: The OC potential of the new AMD CPUs is supposedly really bad with air/watercooling.
I suppose you haven't been keeping up at all on the news?
>showstage OC with liquid nitrogen != realistic OC potential
you just described Linus
I'm not even talking about OC potential, AMD now straight up beats Intel at stock speeds.
Literally the only reason to get an Intel CPU now is if you're the kind of person who thinks spending 500 dollars for 10% more performance is a worthwhile investment.
...
we dont know the single thread performance yet wait for benchmarks dont be a sucker
>Interested in R5 1600X because it single thread performance is on par with 7600K but multicore shits all over the 7600K
>1600X has same price as 7600K
>R5 series only getting released Q2 2017
Why is AMD doing this? Do they hate winning?
thanks based jimbo
Thank you based Jim
Only use will be playing pirated 4k HEVC 10 bit movies. HDCP 2.2 needs to get cracked already.
thank ye kindly based jimmy
...
My A10 shits on your i5.
No it doesnt.
Yes it does, because i said so.
It's outdated, but if it's still good enough for what you play then why fix what's not broken?
Tell me when VR anime titties and haptic feedback porn games become worthwhile.
How is their single core performance? Emulation is inefficient and doesn't use multi-cores, instead relying on just 1-2.
We will know in a week.
For a reason we are only seeing multicore benchmarks.
And still they are all "leaks".
Did you even watch the video? The 1800X and the 6900K have identical single-core performance.
Reminder that if you mainly play games wait for R5 processors, R7 is targeted mainly toward content creator and hardware enthusiasts, the X99 audience for Intel.
Use =/= need. There's a reason why i7 7700K is destroying 10 core i7s in games.
Like complete shit.
Arma 3 is all about IPC, fast clock cycle and fast ram. It can only use two cores and the second thread is solely for AI pathfinding.
>i3 2120
>Feel the itch for games again
>AMD is back
Truly a good time to blow some dosh
1400X/1600X will be the sweet spot for gaming. 1700+ will only be worth it if you stream or make videos.
Your comp is already great for 1080p/1440p vidya.
Pretty funny isn't it.
And by funny I mean I wish you could hate them to death.
I currently own Nvidia and I'm glad to see AMD doing a turn around and providing competition again.
Me again, sorry just looked at the benchmarks and saw how much better the i5 3750k is. Guess my CPU is weaker after all :/
Same here, except I5 3570k and GTX770 4GB...
I really want to build something new, if only because I'm bored as fuck...
But I know I'm mostly only going to play CSGO, Day of Infamy, Arma 3 and Rising Storm 2, maybe Mount&Blade 2 hopefully, which I'm sure won't really see a boost in perf anyway.
Only game that might require an upgrade is Squad and yet they quite improved on the performances already so there is no point either...
What an uninteresting time to be alive... I remember when we all were both excited and scared to death at the same time waiting for the next game that would blew our computers out of the water.
I'll just keep this comp until it dies of old age I think...
AMD has been better for Nvidia for the general consumer for a long time for video cards anyways. If you don't need Linux or HDR support, AMD is way ahead.
Not a whole lot of them if you consider the games people actually do play watching Steam stats.
Cities Skylines and Planet Coaster are pretty CPU-heavy. Of course if you play ARMA 3 getting a CPU with higher IPC is always worthwhile. Skylake?Kaby lake is 30% faster than the 2500k, if Ryzen actually does have the same single-core performance as Skylake that would be pretty cool.
If the pricing is aggressive, yes it is.
>Ryzen
Literally fucking nothing.
So Ryzen is better? Thanks user, I'll be sure to get one once I'm upgrading my PC.
>not waiting for zen+
I'm sure it'll be a significant upgrade over your FX 9590 user.
I actually have a i7-3770, I don't see a need to upgrade my cpu anytime soon but my GPU is starting to show it's age pretty quickly.
Wait for 1600X, it'll overclock a lot better than 8 cores and have two additional cores over the 7700K.
So would Arma 3 only use 2 threads on an i7 3770?
>Want to upgrade comp
>The hassle of swapping mobo/cpu and having to reinstall the OS and a ton of shit is keeping me from doing it
I got 3570k so it's still fine but I'd like to upgrade if it was easier.
>So Ryzen is better?
Whatever makes you sleep at night buddy.
>mfw I bought an i5 6600k 1 month ago
Well it literally says it's much faster than the intel option
>6850K
Literally fucking nothing.
>AMDrones will defend this
>So Ryzen is better?
not it's not
1st - the average gamer doesn't even overclock (that is hardcore gaming)
2nd - risk buying the famous melting brand by the name AMD your friends tell you about?
3rd - if the ryzen 3 and ryzen 5 rape intel i7 then yes but don't forget you can also overclock intel and I highly doubt ryzen 5 and ryzen 3 will be below 200 mark and for the price you can buy a 6600k which i think that overclocked will easily rape both Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3
MARK MY WORDS
amd will fail and nobody will buy their garbage expensive CPUs that are worse performing than Intel's
>8 core
>16 thread
>good price
finally can make a home vcenter server with decent specs
