Ep1 > HL1 > OpFor > Ep2 > BS > HL2 > LC
Prove me wrong.
You can't, because it's a matter of opinion, but you can damn well try.
Ep1 > HL1 > OpFor > Ep2 > BS > HL2 > LC
Comin' through with the facts.
HL1 > OP4 > EP2 > HL2 > BS > EP1
>Even listing Lost coast
That was a one-off level, meant to deliver new engine features to modders. Sure, it might be cannon, but it's more a tech demo than a game
wrong
switch Ep 1 with Ep2 and I might agree
>Ep1 > HL1
>Ep1 > HL1
>Ep1 > HL1
Nigga, is you serious? Ep1 is the worst one in the whole series. Furthmore, HL1 is the best by far. Stop being stupid.
>Ep1
>Over anything except BS
You've just demonstrated that opinions can,in fact, be wrong
>rating Ep 1 that high
Eh?
Anyway, the correct order is
HL1 > Ep 2 > HL2 > OF > Ep 1 > BS
>any episode better than the first half life and their expansion packs
I don't like your opinion
HL1 > Ep2 > HL2 > Ep1> BS > OpFor
Personal opinion feel free to disagree
OpFor > HL1 > Ep2 > HL2 > Ep1 > BS
Serious question, is Decay any good?
>rating Op For higher than anything
jesus man
but seriously, Decay is worth playing if you have a buddy. Don't bother if you'll play it alone though. The PC recreation is kinda buggy but it's still better giving it a go than not playing it.
>>rating Op For higher than anything
Explain yourself
>this consensus that Half Life 1 > Episode 2 > Half Life 2
Feels good that there are still people with taste using this board.
Ricochet>HL1>HL2>BS=OF=EP2>EP1
Disagree with this and your mother will die in her sleep, not really, please don't ban me mods.
I replayed it a short while ago and found the level design to be REALLY lacking. Everything is tiny compared to the scale of the original HL's levels, and it's mostly linear. It feels like a long string of set pieces rather than anything cohesive (closest it comes to that is the Biodome) Even the blast-pit rip-off is lame because whilst the boss is pretty cool the level is just cramped as fuck and nothing feels big anymore. Levels just generally felt empty and lacked the big atmosphere of the original game.
The new content IS good though, if ridiculously over-powered; the Race-X have a shitload of health to compensate so basically fighting them with the old HL weapons is tedious. Barnacle grappling gun was amazing though and the Displacer is pretty much a prototype Portal gun.
I won't say it's BAD since it had a lot of neat ideas but it's just let down by its level design. The grand finale takes place in a room off to the side of a warehouse; it's just so damn anti-climactic.
OpFor is my favourite Half Life and in my shortlist for best FPS's of all time. The new weapons and enemies are great and I feel like the level design is tighter coupled with the AI being a little more aggressive makes combat really hair-raising.
I feel like it improves on 1 in almost every way except for the final boss, that fight was junk. HL1's was pretty tedious from memory but at least it was memorable.
also to defend Blue Shift; it also had problems (like the retarded trip to Xen which basically shit all over the Lambda labs in the base game) but I felt it had much stronger level design than Opposing Force. Its biggest flaw was being held up to OpFor's large amount of new stuff; all BS had going for it was Barney hands for the guns and a lab-coat less model for the Scientists.
It also went up against Azure Sheep, which had TERRIBLE level design but had a bunch of 'new' stuff (mostly reskins of the older weapons) which gave it the novelty factor. Kate was a neat idea if hamstrung by goldsource's really fucking bad follower AI and gaining a HEV suit half-way through the mod which is the coolest part of the mod (with arm changes and everything)
I respectfully disagree, but I also had that opinion until I replayed it recently, then I saw it for what it really was. Compared to most user mods it is still good but it doesn't hold a candle to the original.
HL1 > OpFor > EP1 = EP2 > HL2 > BS
I think you might be viewing Episode Two through some pretty thick nostalgia goggles.
> Entire Antlion nest chapter is repetitive, basically repeating the same encounter forever (except for the tedious running from the Guard thing)
> Car still handles like shit, and pacing in car segments sucks so bad
> Hunters extremely overused and annoying to fight in the first place because of bullet sponginess
Why I don't particularly like BS:
> Headcrabs, headcrabs everywhere
> Wtf was that Xen thing even about
> Felt like a collection of scrapped levels from HL1 in arbitrary order
Why Episode One is my definite top pick:
> No retarded vehicle segment
> Flashlight/flare gameplay with Alyx
> Synergistic Antlion gameplay with Alyx
> Almost no bullet sponges
> Alyx sniping
> In general, gameplay where you have to combine mechanics or be smart about them, like n the old games
EP2>HL>OF>HL2>BS>EP1>LC
HL>EP2 is also acceptable
HL1>BS>Opfor>HL2
Does anyone else remember that vortigaunt mod where you end up being rescued by kate and her BF?
