Pic related for me, I hate to admit it as I love this game, but the community of this game must be the most autistic one Ive ever seen. A close second would be Undertale. Its a good game, but we all know what kind of people are the majority of its fanbase.
FF in general has a terrible fanbase because everyone feels like they have to argue about which is the best even though pretty much every FF game has been good. Even XIII was passable.
Can't say I have any.
Since shitty games have a tendency to attract retards, I've yet to find myself enjoying one with a bad fanbase.
FFXIV is horrible. Literally the worst subscription based MMO I've ever played. Undertale is trash as well, being "quirky" to hide lazy design is fucking retarded.
what datacenter and server you play on, community makes a huge difference.

If FF14 didn't have psychological mobile game shit such as daily roulettes and a checklist of quests that you get to check off I think 75% of you would be broken out of your trance and realize what a shallow game it is.
Everyone complained about FFXIII but XIV is even more mechanically shallow, it's just gussied up in tricks to make it feel big and psychologically addictive things

You have to admit that some do it worse than others and that some video games (such as Besiege or DMC) are more rewarding because of their systems and the ways players can express themselves within them, than just flashy level ups and superficial rewards.
Many RPGs are satisfying because you understand the mechanics and create a personal strategy to succeed within those boundaries. FFXIV has none of that, not even WoW's superficial character builds. There is no way for a player to personalize themselves through the systems, only by playing dress up.

JP servers are 100 times better than NA/EU. There's zero RMT, party finder discourages statics and encourages people to help learn fights, drama is kept in private linkshells rather than spilling out into public chat, and people are generally more friendly rather than getting angry at the drop of a hat.
so you're completely ignoring the personal satisfaction and strategy of successfully completing savage/extreme raid encounters at minimum item level.
If they could the majority of the fanbase would chastise them for not being the best flavor of the month build. MMOs thrive on min-max players.

Im fully aware that this game is far from perfect (you are right about boring daily shit, the content updates are basically always the same, maybe with some shitty new gamemode no one plays in it, leveling and keeping up with iLvl is a chore), but its definitely not a bad game. I know I like it for all the wrong reasons (as most of my stuff listed is shit that doesnt need to be in an MMORPG at all), but I do have fond memories of the time I played it. Its like Yoshi would be better off doing an offline mainline FF game. Because FFXIV has so many neat little shit and eastereggs in it I had expected in offline FF games. It feels FAR more like a "true" Final Fantasy than anything that hack Nomura did.

Japanese people have the highest savage clear rates out of all servers by a large margin and are the ones with the best PotD world records.

If you actually played on Mana you wouldn't say that. Japanese players are way more skilled than North American players. Only thing NA does better is world first poopsocking, but their general populace is dumb as rocks and it shows as Balmung and Gilgamesh has the highest NA population but has one of the lowest raid clears out of all servers.
in-game fanbase or outside fanbase? both are two different beasts. one cares about the actual game mechanics and progression, the other cares more about playing dressup and hooking up with gay people on /vg/
What can I say? It is expected for these kind of games to have some shitty fanbase, I still enjoy it for some reason
