If you are just looking for the combat I'd say Payday 2. Tons of enemies, fast n loud techno music, Lots of different weapons, kills are very satisfying if you hae a powerful gun.

3 is pretty good imho, i really liked it, music, action, plot etc.

its just not same as 1&2 but its still a pretty good game.

probably the Max Payne trilogy if you're looking for gun kino and an depressed main character

This is honestly really terrible advice. The only way Max Payne wasn't really Max Payne was in the story, where Max Payne just whines and whines the whole way- but the gameplay is fucking fantastic, and in my opinion it's easily one of the best if not THE best singleplayer third person shooter of all time.

It could definitely be better, I'm fine with Rockstar trying something different but I can understand why somebody that likes MP for the story might not have enjoyed it at all. Max is just "ugh I fucke up everything I'm useless" for 90% of the game, does stupid shit in cutscenes, etc

It feels like Payday 2 desperately wants to be part of the "subgenre" popping up of fast, brutal, cynical, and violent media going off of how they buddied up with john wick and hotline miami but it's really just nothing like it, combat isn't lethal and brutal enough by a longshot.

game's terrible but damn if the shooting isn't great. Clear an entire room with your pistol, shooting heads and kneecaps. There's always one or two guys left alive bleeding out on the ground. Slowly walk up to them and fucking execute them with your shotgun

I disagree. It had great weapon feedback, but the movements were far too slow and it lacked the great on and off pacing that made MP2 so great.

While the plot the characters and the writing are complete and utter shit, 3's gameplay is really good, but people overrate it far too much.

I replayed 3 twice and I didn't have many problems with it.

The movement wasn't really that slow compared to 2 and it FELT great. Believable.

MP3 plot really fits the narrative of how max payne fucked his all life up and now a whiskey+painkiller addict though.

he becomes a drug addict and acts like a drug addict. makes stupid mistakes etc.

Splinter Cell Blacklist or Conviction (forgot) has the same shooting style of John Wick, and it makes for some nice executions.
Problem is just that you should be avoiding any killing, but if you're just in it for the stylish gunplay, that's pretty close.
