I've never gotten motion sickness from a video game until air ride. Specifically in city trail . Hop off a star and as Kirby fly to the top of a tower or building. Then with the c stick spin the camera around...barf.

I didn't mean city trial but Kirby air ride in general isn't great.

Kirby Air Ride does lack a lot of content. More tracks, more stars, better minigames for city trail, more city trail maps, etc. Also make it so using an ability isn't the same button as charging so you can actually use the Fire/Spark/Ice abilities

Honestly, mechanically and aesthetically the game was basically perfect. I think if they made another one they should probably add a few more buttons but the simplicity of only having a few controls was what made the game nice. I wouldn't want it fucked up by adding a whole bunch of bullshit like activating a turbo meter, or using your ULTRA MEGA COMBO SUPER ATTACK XD, just like, add a button to quickspin, a button to use copy abilities separately from drifting, and it'd be perfect.

This would have been perfect for the B button. I understand Sakurai wanting to keep the game "simple", but it's so much worse when you're holding a bomb or a fully charged plasma beam, but you can now no longer drift because lol fuck you.

i recall if u press R rapidly in flight it does wonky shit

i think its because you need to charge that ride first because its the only star that doesn't automatically move by itself

there's probable some value it keeps resetting mid air which leads to these errors

because the speed naturally drops when you start to lose altitude right? but if you mash the charge button it starts like a trickle down but doesn't hit 0

much like in world of warcraft if you disengage while falling high it resets the drop distance so you don't take damage

If they were to do a genuine sequel here are the things I would want.

>More of everything, vehicles, minigames, copy abilities, ect.
>A Top Ride-like mode that isn't shit, maybe just go ahead and make it a Mario Party-like mode to fill Nintendo's party game bullshit quota, especially since Top Ride was kind of like that anyway
>Add some MINOR customization to the vehicles you use in Air Ride, just to make the pure racing mode less boring

>Most importantly make City Trial the focus of the game
>Multiple City Trial maps, each equally as detailed and full of secrets as the original
>Start out with one or two but discovering the secrets and unlocking checkboxes slowly uncovers more
>Has a semi-campaign aspect to it like Pokemon Snap where you unlock maps over time but you have to play through them multiple times and do different things in each one to get to the next one
>Have interactive terrain features that unlock things in the map, like a guaranteed way to get a particular vehicle or item if you do it right
>The penultimate and most difficult to discover secret is individual paths between each of the different maps

Also, I really want a comfy always-night City Trial map full of casinos and lots of neon, kind of like that one part of Checker Knights.

Sakurai made Kid Icarus Uprising and Air Ride is still damn good.

Sakurai really only fucks up when he makes a Smash game. It's extra frustrating because he straight up admits he could make a game as great as Melee but just doesn't think it's good game design.

Holy shit the Pod Race in epsiode 1 represents going into a drag race with Hydra so well.

That's what makes him extra mind-boggling though. He DOESN'T fuck up. He does everything intentionally. There's nothing NOT polished about Brawl or Smash 4. In fact they're some of the most polished games ever released, filled to the brim with content and love.

It's just that, in my opinion (and many many others) the gameplay is dumbed down (in a bad way) from Melee, something he straight up admits he did intentionally.

I still think Sakurai is one of the greatest developers the industry has, it's just that he doesn't align with my views of what Smash should be.

I really hope his next game isn't Smash, because Kid Icarus Uprising was my favorite game on the 3DS and one of my favorite games of all time.

Me and my girlfriend spent a good few hours earlier dicking about in city trial. Great fucking game.

Mechanically, the game is a fucking mess. The race mode is mediocre, the powers are 99% useless, star balance is a joke, top ride is fun but just a mini-game, and City Trial is only fun for autistically filling up checkboxes.

But autistically filling up checkboxes with friends is very, very fun.

This star was pretty much unbeatable outside city trial. If you picked metaknight you could never win because his top speed was like 9mph lower than this one. Dumb pyramidmobile

Why does Nintendo hates money?

I think Smash 4 is everything but a bad ripoff of Melee. I played Melee competitively for about 3 years and Brawl from the very start and I never had the feeling it was a downgrade. In fact it was just an extremely different game.

IMHO, gameplay and strategy in these games have nothing in common. Even though they clearly look the same, they are just not made to be similar mechanic wise. We all know Sakurai tried to sabotage his own game to make it non-viable competitively but the truth is, in the end, it's up to the public to decide what they want to do with your game.

Smash 4 is a different matter. It's basically just a Brawl 2.0 with lots of old bugs fixed and a (much) more balanced roster. I think it can be viewed like a more fair version of Brawl.

My brother and I would spend hours doing city trials. I would try to build the Hydra, he the Dragoon. Whenever we had both vehicles on screen, the chase would begin. He'd fly around like crazy, eventually landing somewhere super hard to reach, and we'd basically play chicken. He'd wait for me to get super close, and I'd try to knock his flighty ass out of the sky.

Good times.
