Why is it that whenever PC exclusive games are discussed there are always some retards that say strategy games don't count?
In what universe do you guys live in that strategy games are not one of the finest video game genres? How underage and casual is this place really? There are million threads about casual console strategy games like Fire Emblem but rarely a decent thread about PC strategy games.
It seems you can only really discuss casual games on Sup Forums.

Stategy is a dead genre

Both posts are true. Strategy is the pinnacle of video gaming, it's a spectrum from the Deep Blue battle, all the way down to shit like starcraft. It's brain using, and normies hate it. I love RTS with a passion, but I quite often don't play it when I wanna game, because it's involved. sometimes I just wanna shoot shit, like heroin, and relax.
Isaac Cox
I know what you feel. But isn't it true that only before you start playing you feel that way? The moment you get over yourself and start the game and play for a few minutes to get into the game it's like pure heroin.
You have so much focus on that game. You start to think in the rules of the game, develop strategies, start to get more effecient more precise. And then you stop playing and notice it's already 3am, you have played 10 hours and it was a blast. With other genres you play small sessions, you may get trough boring parts and lose focus. But strategy games are consistent. While you do the easy tasks you already think about 3-4 steps ahead, your mind is always occupied.

DoW III had the makings of a great game, but the retarded cover system and the shit VAs don't appeal to me.
Liam Jenkins
But if they discredit your biggest genre, they have an easier time discrediting your entire platform!
Cooper Taylor
To be fair, there are some RTS releases on consoles.
Even recent ones.
Carson Hernandez
I'm being literal about the heroin, I find it difficult to play strategy games when high. I can't forward plan, and my reaction times are fucked when I have multiple attacks / defenses going at once.
Aaron Smith
Halo Wars 1 & 2 are really the only "recent" console RTS'
Jace Lewis
>whenever PC exclusive games are discussed there are always some retards that say...
because all console gamers are juvenile and/or retards
Easton Edwards
But that means its not exclusive anymore.
I'm just shitposting a little to keep the thread alive.

RTS or Grand strategy?
Campaign or multiplayer?
Samuel Bennett
I like all of them but I prefer turn based strategy games in singleplayer.
My reasons are simple. Multiplayer games are a no go because everyone will use optimal strategy which is rarely the most fun to play and doesn't promote experimenting.
And in RTS you are even more limited in creativity since you absolutely must use some predefined strategy since time is a factor.

>RTS or Grand strategy? wargame (genre) >Campaign or multiplayer? >multiplayer
David Diaz
waiting for an rts game to even come close to as good as coh 1
Sebastian Collins
>tfw too intelligent to care what consolefags think and shitpost here
I think I will just keep enjoying all the RTS and grand strategy games in full 4K/60
Luis Phillips
Reasons why PC strategy games are not popular on this place: >a genre japan is hardly involved with >has an actual learning curve >people mostly just play modern games on here >people mostly just play the casual single player games on here >no waifus >no story
Luke Gray
>Play various strategy games >Just keep ending up back in Chess
Jordan Long
Depends on the strategy game.
I don't want to perfect my clicks per minute in Starcraft for example.
Sometimes I just want to bunker in, spam walls and build my wonder in AoE2.
Unfortunately the gaming population is not very fun nowadays as online games focus more on matchmaking.
Jason Allen
I've tried to get into RTS in the past but I can never shake the feeling I should be smashing shortcuts left and right and the knowledge I'm playing sub optimally is annoying. I get frustrated when I catch myself being idle for a while Also not being able to see your enemy is unnerving as fuck
Charles Clark
Probably an unpopular opinion, but people who want to just get into RTS' should get Halo Wars 2. The tweaks they did to make it a pretty decent game on Console makes it really approachable for new comers.
Alexander Watson
start with company of heroes 1
or 2.
2 is simpler, and you might actually enjoy it if you don't play 1 first.
I only really use 3 shortcuts in 1000+ hours, R, T, and shift
coh 1 is just the perfect RTS, intense and satisfying destrction physics, tons of mods (I prefer vanilla though), excellent framerate, and a great balance of arcadey and realism
I will shill this game till they release a 15 year late expansion for it
Nathaniel Johnson
I could see why.. it must be really really simple to be able to play with a controller.
Ian Moore
There's decent enough strategy, but there's some unit automation so you don't have to be a pro at micromanagement.
Brayden Davis
>wargame (genre) My bad
Noah Bailey
>>has an actual learning curve plenty of games have a learning curve >>no waifus debatable >>no story Not everyone likes WoW, but it did come from the relatively story heavy WC3. And that's just the most shining example.
Chase Parker
>plenty of games have a learning curve Not a steep beginning one. Only strategy games have this. What you mean is a progressive one which all games have to some extent.
Austin Reyes
Debatably, very specific game modes might rival such a steep learning curve. On the other hand, playing an RTS campaign generally does not demand great effort.
