overall I'd say yes. Personally I'd say P4 has a better cast of character and more comfy town. P5 has incredibly satisfying combat and great dungeons that makes it the superior game of the series. The music inP5 is on par with the two other games, not really better. Most important thing is that the regular combat theme is catchy as fuck.

Literally how. Everything about P4's cast is ridiculously manufactured to the point where they're walking slabs of wood with no development and barely any actual personality, and the game frequently undermines their characters for the sake of cheap jokes.
P5's cast seem like actual friends, their social events are far more realistic and less like generic anime "events" that feel ridiculously scripted and unnatural, and there aren't any obnoxious cunts like Yosuke or Teddie, and the problems they face are actually developed and thought out - and the game has the balls to go through with them rather than pull a Naoto or Yukiko chicken out and undermine all """development""".
Characters like Anne, Futaba, Yusuke, and Makoto all undergo huge changes in their mindsets, and have meaningful changes over the course of their arc that aren't lazily resolved.

It pretends to be social commentary, but the worldview is cartoonishly black and white to the point of undermining any sort of point it tries to make. It's just a teenage power fantasy. Don't believe anyone who tells you the writing is good or actually functions as social commentary or w/e.

That said, the game itself is a huge, huge improvement over P3/P4, to the point that I'm honestly rather surprised. The overall flow of the dungeons is great and makes me wonder why they didn't even try making them in 3/4. Definitely a meaningful addition. Other that the dungeons it's mostly the P3/P4 formula, but they're so fun that I think it's safe to recommend it as a game. Just don't pay attention to the lazy, myopic writing and you should be able to enjoy it... But that's a big caveat for me.

You posted this a while ago and it hasn't become any more true since then. Your understanding of the story, if you even played the game is pretty damn light. The shadows are literally the personification of all of the flaws that their real world counterparts have; They are 100% evil, because they are literally the manifestation of only the evil of that person. This is not a new element to the series.
To say that because the shadow antagonists are purely black and white evil is a shallow analysis of the actual game's antagonists, since their real world counterparts aren't anything like that.

They were pack-ins in the Japanese LE, but Atlus USA seem to be selling them separately, and they're not part of the US LE.

No. You get a different piece of DLC; The Izanagi Persona DLC, which is fucking useless and they probably chose that one because it's the piece of DLC that'd sell the least anyway. You also get a protagonist theme. No costumes, no battle music.

The Izanagi DLC was included in the Japanese LE along with the P3/P4 costumes and the Orpheus DLC by the way.

Yes, I would go that far. It's possible to make it through P5 without speaking Japanese - at least from a gameplay perspective. Visually, it's understandable how someone could come to the conclusion that the antagonists are like that if someone had no/little understanding of what's actually being said. But it is painfully obvious that the Shadow Selves are representative of the warped desires of their real world counterparts to the point where I would say that yes, anyone who misses that point has either not played the game, or played it and not understood it.
