Well, it wasnt DS, for a start.

No. But it was disappointing after one and two. Fuck universal ammo with a rusty chainsaw.

It's pretty nice looking, the weapon customization is fun, the necromorphs are just as gribbly, some of the fights are pretty great, and aside from some characters and a relatively dumb climax the story is okay.

It had a fun crafting system, but there isn't much beyond that other than the story conclusion. Good thing they didn't leave any sequel bait

No. The co-op was pretty fun, and it did do some things better than DS2, particularly in the level design, and replay value department. I wouldn't call it a great game, but then again, I never found the Dead Space series that good to begin with.

it's so good that there's a ds4

I'm pretty sure they literally left sequel bait in there

Yeah it was a boring piece of shit. Dead Space 1 was good because it was cross-between Alien, Aliens, 2001, and all other good space sci-fi films (except worse than all of those). The lonely in space, mysterious monolith, aliens in the walls, had a decent atmosphere going. The Dead Space 2 had talky characters and tried to be more cinematic yet, unless you're dumb, was worse for it. Dead Space 3 followed suit with talky characters, more cinematics, but worse than DS2, and the gameplay had become stale and what it did change was for the worse. Dead Space>>>DS2>>>>>>DS3

having a coop were one players is seeing though one characters insane dilusions while the other sees a plain hallway was cool, wish this was used more

it was mediocre at best and had potential if only EA didn't meddle.

just watch this vid and you'll understand.

not really, It was enjoyable enough
some dull and stupid sections sections sure, but overall passable more action less horror game

>human enemies
>co-op
>no way to play as Carver unless you do co-op
>universal ammo

EA ruins everything

>Tfw Replaying DS1 again

Anyone got a reshade preset they would recommend? Game looks fine on its own but I'd like to try it with some visual tweaks

>GOAT
Dead Space / Dead Space 2 / Dead Space 2 Severed

>Ok Tier
Dead Space Extraction

>Fine Tier
Dead Space iOS

>absolute shit comic sans tier
Dead Space 3

It's been a while since I've played this.

Were the aliens ever really explained? Or were we just supposed to blindly accept that aliens exist and have their own planet, history, language, technology, etc with no explanation at all.

>DS2 as good as the first
Fuck off.
>talkative Issac
>muh Nicole
>muh baby songs are scary
>Necros still pop out of vents almost exclusively
>at least 2x the scripted shit
Haven't played the DLC.

what is the best weapon and why is it the ripper

...

It wasn't as good as the first but the feel of it was great.

Wtf the game literally ends with the helix thing being on earth/moon.

It played a hundred times better and had much more variety.

What do you mean

>An entire game of horrific monster that can tear you limb from limb and infest your body
>The scariest moments involved a stage prop sun and an alarm clock

Seriously, that alarm clock made me jump out of my skin. It didn't help that they chose the alarm sound that my own clock uses to wake me, so it made me near drop my controller.

MC gets cucked in it, so if that's your thing, go for it.

>tfw no Severed DLC available on PC

Shoudl I get used DS2 for X-Box 360 and buy Severed DLC? I hate shooting stuff with a joypad, but this DLC looks pretty interesting.

Fucking EA I swear

Wanna know what's the worst part about that?

It was done on the EA Partners program which means Insomniac had full creative control on the project, meaning it was their own fucking fault for turning it generic as fuck

Not really.

No, but it is the weakest out of the three games. The weapon crafting is a neat mechanic, but I feel that it is something that doesn't belong in Dead Space. The change to all ammo being universal changed the game to have much more combat, but that lead to another problem I had with the game, that being there was too much of a flow of enemies. This isn't me saying that I expect it to be "survival horror," but the heavy flow of enemies (along with universal ammo) made it so that you can't enjoy a lot of the environments and ruins the presence of enemies as a threat. I remember entering a new area that was aesthetically pleasing, but within 5 seconds of entering that area, I had to stop and fight more enemies which happened after already fighting enemies prior to that. Maybe I'm not remembering it right since it has been a long time since playing it, but I remember there being a lot of "containment" fights.

That said, there are positives to it like the weapon crafting which pretty much serves the entirety of the gameplay by making what you want or need and having co-op if you have a friend to play with. I'm not going to say that it's still worth a play, but if you want to play it, feel free to, but don't going in expecting a stellar experience. There's a good chance that you won't hate it, but you will place it at the bottom of the list like everyone else does.

Wow that legitimately makes me more upset

The split persona thing always makes me sad.

yes
/thread

Yes, if only because of how enemy behaviour and placement have changed since the previous games. They all immediately begin rushing your position on spawn and cannot be stopped by anything short of the pop-gun weak force gun or weapons that dish out enough damage in a short enough time to outright kill them.

Like an assault rifle and grenade or rocket launcher, the most boring possible combination that also happens to be one of the most effective since nearly all of the classic tools had their damage and/or stagger nerfed into oblivion.

I always wanted there to be one more balance pass on all of the weapons after Dead Space 2, I just never expected it to mean nerfing the fucking line gun in 3.

>tfw no trinity of trilogies
