>daily reminder nba 2k17 is the deepest rpg game released this year
I'm not even joking. Even if you don't like sports or sports games the mygm mode is worth it alone. You get to roleplay as a customized general manager for any team.
>daily reminder nba 2k17 is the deepest rpg game released this year

Does anyone else go out of their way to make fair trades?
we know. fantasy is also the deepest PnP game too.
>3-8
>in the hole $50 million
good job nigger
>you can scan any face using your phone and upload it.
>You can make a 7'7 behemoth with a red afro and acne scars.
>Customization is great
>there's a shot creator mode
>jersey customization with custom logos that you can upload or download from 2k servers
>full arena customization down to the sound effects that play based on what happens on the court
>a fucking shoe creator
>even changing your fucking arm length can play drastically into your play style
>AAA game devs dumb down games because "muh new players" leaving a shallow expirence for everyone
>Sports game devs lay on increasing levels of complexity while trusting players to only delve as deep as they want to, giving the casuals and hardcore players satisfied
This all sounds pretty cool, might buy it when it's in the $15 bargain bin a year from now
i got it for 20 bucks on black friday
Yes.
Is there a way to get into sports other than just starting to watch them?
funny you say that. I actually got into sports because of sports games.
Watch them and play the vidya. it's fun.
bump
madden is better because nfl is better than nba
madden is trash compared to the quality of nba 2k
too bad it's for national boringball association
DSP's playthrough of the one that had a story mode directed by Spike Lee was fucking hilarious and I recommend watching it
Play the sports games, if you enjoy them you'll naturally get interested in watching the actual sport. That's how I got started watching basketball
>nba
>boring
Nigger what?
Also you're getting your memes mixed up. Baseball is known as boreball
Football is better than basketball but 2k is by far a better game than madden.
I love gm modes for sports games
It's like managing a gladiator school or some shit on a budget
I just wish someone actually made a gladiator school simulator game though.
of melo was a dbz character who would he be?
>Hated basketball my whole life
>Get really into 2k16
>Now I love Basketball
Magic?
Yeah sport games have advanced faster than most genres recently
what made you get into 2k16 if yo7 hated basketball
>Sup Forums shits on Chads being for playing sports games
>they're actually too intelligent to play anything else
youtu.be
Front office football is the NFL manager I've always never knew I wished for
This is stupid, only niggers and normalfag white guys play Madden and NBA 2K. With Fifa being reserved for the Mexicans.
>tfw too intelligent for apehoop
Are there any recent good arcade-y sports games? I honestly don't mind sports games as much as so many "gamers" tend to, but the simulation aspect does nothing for me.
confirmed low iq
There is one on Steam it's actually not bad, I bought it last year and still play occasionally. Its like Football Manager but you have a roster of gladiators.
You're a fucking idiot.
The depth and complexity in the gameplay in 2k is ridiculous. The animations and character models are top tier as well. There's a ton of gameplay modes and customization
Isn't there a WWE game that lets you do the same? I don't care if it's bad I just want a game to where I can scan in stuff
Don't reply to tripfaggots.
Tien.
Derrick Rose would be Yamcha,
I like career modes.
Always liked sports games and shit
then get nba 2k17
...
Name 1 modern RPG with better game mechanics and character building than in sports games
These games are all trash because the matches are all fixed - There are moments when you pull of a great play and it works the way you intended and you pump your fist like it's a real basketball game. Sadly, there are too many moments when the computer (on Superstar or higher) will simply not allow you to score and won't allow you to stop the other team when it decides "let's make the game close so we can build a false sense of suspense,
This is fucking weird. I literally just read that review.
use custom sliders nigger
FIFA 17
I'm impressed by it but I don't like those sorts of sports games.
I've always preferred arcade style instead of simulation.
I haven't played a sports game since NBA Live 96.
I liked to turn off all the rules so the game turned into a full contact tackling game.
2k17 acts both as a simulator and an Arcadish experience based on the sliders you use. You can even change the pace of the game.
There's also fun arcadish courts like these
Basketball games are pretty fun, the most engaging sports games generally.
>store.steampowered.com
for a sec i though you were joking.
Ive heard this game has tons of issues on PC, mostly bugs and the online mode not working properly (at least at release).
How is it now? What are the issues today?
Face scanning in game has been shit, in my experience. The latest WWE2K game was better than previous, but it's still clunky.
At least the game no longer takes five seconds between changing options, that was awful.
Confirmed shit taste and black/normalfag, come talk to me when you get into RPG's and stuff that isn't for normalfags.
sports games have surpassed western and eastern rpg games when it comes to both role playing mechanics and stats
>Fallout 4 probably being worst wrpg in recent years
>FF15 another massive disappointment
>Witcher 3 bogged down by the shitty combat system
Just accept that sports games are now better than the modern "RPG"
Any tactical RPG, even Fire Emblem.
I might actually get this if I ever see it for cheap, thanks for the shilling.
Does it at least have a good soundtrack?
OPPORTUNITY BE KNOCKIN
>He thinks sports games don't have tactics or strategy
>Fire emblem's glorified rock paper scissors counts as tactics
Yo, this is the first time I've seen an actual sports game thread on Sup Forums. 2k is a good game, I should play it more often, but there are so many other good ganes to play right now.
I can't think of a single sports game with a good soundtrack. Maybe nfl street
Do skateboarding games count as sports games?
no
The old WWE Smackdown vs Raw games had pretty good soundtracks
Pretty sure Americans think pro wrestling is a sport
>Padded to Hell Rugby
grow some balls you yanks
2K is honestly a good game, but I have too many fellow negro friends who never just want to fuck around in the park and everything is serious
I wish someone made another arcady unrealistic basketball game like NBA Jam or NBA Street or such.
While 2K games are pretty good, I just want something crazy and over the top and without all of the pseudorealistic shit like TV-like presentation or clunky gameplay.
Also, how is 2K17 different from 2K16? I have 2K16 because of the 2K bundle, but I'm just wondering how yearly sports games iterate.
>We live in a timeline where 2K were cucked out of making football games because their one attempt was so good it scared the shit out of EA.
ITS NOT FAIR
>NBA Street
I have fond memories of that game, but then I went back and watched this video a few months ago youtube.com
My favorite part of that game was how you got to add someone to your team from theirs after beating them, I have been thinking of stealing that mechanic and making a iOS/android dodgeball game, with characters having different stats and special abilities, etc.
My crib was sick
You think that's stupid? Reminder that this is a real thing that happened.
Can you create your own team or can you only play existing teams?
I really hate how all mainstream sports games only let you play as real life teams. Fuck that, I want to have my own special snowflake team.
Never seen that, didn't have vol 3, that is fucking awesome
>Can you create your own team or can you only play existing teams?
Yes and you can use them online in tournaments or in any other mode. You can even be a general manager for one and create custom rosters with all custom players.
Sounds neat. I might pick this up if it goes on sale.
i really hate to sound like a shill but i can't emphasis just how well done the customization is. You can edit team jerseys, arenas and all the way down to their fucking sneakers. You can also upload or download custom images from other users right in the 2k browser and slap them on everything.
Hmm...
Eh...
>sports game
>pc
>pc version
Found your problem
>consolecucks think the game is suddenly better because they're playing it on the plastic box they spent $400 for
What did the obvious shill mean by this?
I have both a pc and a ps4. I will always get the console version of sports games 10 times out of 10.
The game has issues on pc you fucking retard. Don't shit up an otherwise decent thread with platform wars.
C-can you make a team full of japanese waifus? Force them to wash each other in the shower?
...
>kinda want 2k17
>know it will be outdated in 7 months
i also don't want to pay for it myself, but if i got it as i gift i think i'd have fun with it
you can probably find it for around $20-30 if you look around
>10 ratings
>12 ratings
great source, my man. Obviously just a few people pissed off about ~something~ and felt the need to go out of their way to review it. Post what they say
>100s of ratings across all three current platforms say it's mediocre at best
>b-but maybe these 10 reviews on this last-gen console are wrong about something! Because those are the ones that matter!
Retard.
>each year check back in curiosity to see if Story Designer is back
>it never is
Why is Yukes such a fucking joke of a company.
>trusting random people who give the game 0/10 because "I don't like the cutscenes"
Retard.
What's with all the metacritic faggots on this board lately? Don't you know that website proves LITERALLY nothing?
being playing 2k for years but never did mygm before
>nuggets
>do suprisingly well and reach playoffs
>owner sudden tells me he wants to win the championship next season
>"bottomless budget" he says
>want to get KD in free agency
>he wants $100m
>i only have $8m to offer
>whut
>waive 10 players to free up the space
>turns out if no one else takes them you still end up paying their wages or something
>ruined the nuggets
>start again
>Bad goy! You should trust my adverti- I mean professional reviewers! How could actual gamers know anything about video games?
5 rupees have been deposited into your account
>I don't have an argument as to why this game is bad so I am going to call you a shill
Genius! If shills for this game were real, you would see threads about it far more often. When was the last time you saw a thread for this game?
Well, you're here, doing your absolute best to convince people to buy your game.
I mean, you're not even trying to be subtle.
kek, try with the nets it's even tougher
kys
I don't give A FUCK if you buy the game, I am just telling you metacritic reviewers are fucking retards. If you want to actually talk about the game, let me know. But you are using random people saying
>Great gameplay, but you have to sign into psn for some game modes, 1/10
and
>Too many cutscenes, 1/10
as proof that the game is bad. That is just fucking retarded
The career mode does look incredible, even moreso when you look at so many other watered down career modes, like FIFA's. The stadium creator (and I think there's a jersey creator?) are concepts that I've wanted in career modes for years.
That said Football Manager will always be king of career modes.
Denver? From... Seattle?
>that profit
git gud
>(and I think there's a jersey creator?)
yeah there is, also do yourself a favor and google 2k17 pro-am mode.
>actually got drafted to denver
>no one mentions it
