agreed

It's really not.
Some people say that the pvp is better because of build viability, which seems to be the case, but as a whole DS2 is the worst in the entire series.

The only people who ardently defend DS2 are pvp only shitters

Anyone around Soul Memory 50,000 able to help me clear Shulva Sanctum City?

yep 3 is kinda nostalgia bait. DS2 had the guts to be a sequel instead of a graphical update

except it had huge ambitions to include a graphical update but it was forced to discard it because 7th gen consoles were shitting the bed with it

it was a missed opportunity not to include the intended game in the SotFS-version, since it splits the online community with the vanilla+DLC release anyway

I prefer the slower combat of DS2 to DS3 but neither of them are as good as DeS and DS1

I initially hated Dark Souls 2, but now unironically believe it to be the best in the series. It makes a lot of boneheaded decisions like adaptability and soul memory, but it was trying to be something original and it's fun as hell to try out all the different fashions and be that motherfucker who dual wields greatswords or sends people flying with karate moves.

I like DS2 but you're absolutely wrong.
BB and DS3 are leagues above all the others. They're on a different level.

Did it have the most outfits? I feel like it did.

thats not much to say

this

Out of all the souls games, it undoubtedly had the most amount of armor sets in the entire series, not to mention the most amount of armor sets with added special buffs

I really hope this is just a meme and not an actual opinion.

Not even close. It has lackluster bosses, dull looking environments, bad level design, bad mechanics (rolling, a core part of Souls is tied to a stat, floaty movement, shields and magic are overpowered and makes the game a breeze) bad oc fan fiction lore, bad dlc (shulva is the only good one really) really bad npcs and almost non existing questlines. It is good in that there's a variety of builds you can choose from and role play but other than that it's the worst souls game by far.

>i-frames tied to a stat
No

Jeez, so that's why I enjoyed Fashion Souls in 2 the most.

Same here. I didn't like it when it first came out, but now I see it as better than Dark Souls 1.
I think it took the contrast of DaSIII, to see what a DaS sequel -could- have looked like, to realise how original and inspired DaSII was all along.

it has the best combat out of all the souls games.
Outside of the godly mistake that is Soul memory and Adaptability the game is pretty good. Level design was the worst in the series but fairly passable. It's slightly less linear than DS3. They made poise less powerful which i'm all for and it had some of the best weapon movesets in the series.
It's on par with DS1 IMO.

I unironically liked SOTFS more than 3. Aldia saved the entire plot of 2 alone. I don´t think there is anyone memorable in 3

>dull looking environments
Heide's tower, Lost Bastille, Shrine of Amana, and Doors of Pharros were all great.

>bad mechanics
So did all the other games. DS1 has a stat that's entirely useless.

>really bad npcs
What? There's a cat who makes sexual innuendos, a guy who's just a head and spends all his time in quiet reflection while his body roams around as a homicidal berserker, a musketeer woman in a Guy Fawkes mask, etc. It's way better than just throwing fucking onionbro and patches into the game again.

>Demon's Souls - 19 Armor Sets
>Dark Souls - 58 Armor Sets
>DSII - 106 Armor Sets
>BB - 36~ armor sets
>DSiii - 75 armor sets

>Lacklustre bosses
Mechanically speaking, this is largely true

>Dull looking environments
Dull looking? I don't think so. It has the most variety in the series.

>Bad level design
I wouldn't say 'bad'. Worse than the other games, perhaps.

>Bad mechanics
You ignored all the good things about DaSII like the healing system (no insta-chug estus like DaSIII) and power stancing. DaSII is the most balanced game in the series, Giant Dad and straights swords in DaSIII say hello.

>Bad OC fan fiction lore
This is the one I really take exception to. Please elaborate on what you mean, with examples.

>Bad DLC
They were all pretty consistently good. Nothing outstanding like the Old Hunters, but all good.

>Really bad NPCs
For example? Identify three bad NPCs, what makes them bad and then contrast them with some good NPCs in another souls game so I know what you're talking about

Holy fucking shit.

I'm gonna buy SoftS soon, since I already had ds2 on steam, how is the new enemy placement? Harder, just plain better or what?

A steamy, fresh morning turd is better than DS3. Doesn't mean at fucking all.

What did Aldia do for the plot that helped it so much?

if you're literally fucking brain dead

It's like they took everything that made DeS and DaS great and threw it away, leaving you with an empty, lifeless, shitty world that you don't even want to explore (not that there's even anything to explore in DS2 anyway).

This

He basically fleshed out his entire background and his motivations, which were a big mystery in the original DS2 release. Vendrick also explains his motivation for not taking the throne.

Op never talked about ds1 or des
He said the game is better than ds3

First of all he has the best voice from all the NPCs in the souls series, it makes him very sympathetic. He is also very original. Instead of going with the ´´muh dark´´ ´´muh light´´ bullshit, he sacrificed his form to become some kind of demi-god that is out of the cycle. He wishes humanity to forge it´s own path which kind of succeeds because the PC becomes immortal if they choose to leave the throne. DS3 could have easily been about bearer of the curse putting an end to the cycle instead of ashen one, but let´s be honest half of the fanbase hates DS2 and Myiazaki added the poisonous swamp to DLC literally just to spit in the face of 2 fans

>DS1 has a stat that's entirely useless.
I'd take a useless stat over a stat that you need to level to make a basic gameplay function work well. But even with that the build variety in DS2 still managed to be pretty great.

>no insta-chug estus like DaSIII
As much as the estus in DS3 is the fucking bane of my existence when trying to invade people, the much faster paced PvE of the game absolutely needs faster healing. Even as it is mis-timing your heals in a bossfight can get you killed easily.
>straights swords in DaSIII say hello
Now that the game has been balanced out a bit more straight swords aren't that much of a problem. If you have a big weapon you can poise through their attacks and trade, if you have a regular weapon you're just about on even ground, depending on what you're using.

it's not

But it is

>you can poise through their attacks and trade
Only if you're playing against shitters. Against people who actually know how to play, the only thing you'll ever be hitting is air. You need some really fucking elaborate setups to hit a good player who wields a fast weapon with your slow-ass heavy weapon in DS3.

>Myiazaki added the poisonous swamp to DLC literally just to spit in the face of 2 fans
Can you explain? I don't know anything about ds3 dlcs and I just watched an lp for the base game since my toaster can't handle it.
Why does Myiazaki hate ds2?

Hot opinions there m8 really made me scratch my noggin

Dark Souls 2 literally looks like a PS1 game.

If you took all the great things about Soulsborne games and shit on them, and downgraded 2 gens you'd have DS2. It genuinely blows my mind that people actually prefer to traverse this shitty empty lifeless boring game over literally any of the other infinitely superior installments in the souls series

He's still about having a chink dick and not being able to claim DS2 as his own, it being the best game in the series

>Dark Souls 2 literally looks like a PS1 game.
Confirmed for never seeing a PSX game in your life.

>Dark Souls 2 literally looks like a PS1 game.
But it literally doesn't

In the final DLC of III it is revealed that time and place are convulted and every location from 1 and 2 ended in some dimensional garbage dump at the end of the world. Myiazaki could have chosen any location in the game but guess what, he chosses the one with least lore significance and with the worst design. He hates 2 because it was kinda rushed by bandai as they saw chance to make huge money. Sotfs fixed most problems but he is still obviously assblasted. Clasic theory is that Myiazaki didn´t work as director with 2 because he worked on bloodborne, which is bullshit because the work on 2 had to start around 2013 and it was finished pretty much in a year, so plenty of time for myiahacki to work on bloodborne.

More like environments look like a ps2 game

>actually connecting with a heavy weapon
Yeah okay.

Have you seen the fucking armor sets in DS3? They literally look like plastic, see Mirrah Set and Firekeeper Set

i agree

It's not black and white to me.

I think DS3 has my favorite combat in the series. Making it fast like Bloodborne but sticking to the traditional gameplay where it matters was perfect.

Dark Souls 1 has my favorite exploration and shortcuts but my least favorite environments (besides Anor Londo).

Dark Souls 2 has my favorite environments, story, and weapon variety.

Dark souls 1 and 2 both have characters I love so I can't pick one over the other there. I think Dark Souls 3 easily has the worst characters in the series.

I would love to see all my favorite aspects of each game come together for one more game to end the series. To be honest Dark Souls 3 disappointed me as an ending to the series even though I thought the game was good overall.

Good taste.

DS2 fanboys are brain dead

Even a two handed claymore (or any greatsword) can poise through straightsword attacks, and they're still fast enough to be fairly tricky to dodge if you aren't expecting it.

Trying to use an ultra-greatsword in PvP without some kind of backup weapon is complete cancer, that much is true. Funny enough the only weapons that ultra greatswords match up well against are regular greatswords.

>best voice actor

Don't get me wrong, I love aldia as a character, but his voice is shit. Barey understandable w/out subtitles.

I used to have a low memory save where i did the whole game around the low limit for the soul limiting ring but i have not played in a very long time.

Great for making an OP invader.

Dark Souls 3 does literally nothing better other than visuals, which are not even great to begin with due to lack of color and bland environments.

in what world is this

>>Bad OC fan fiction lore
>This is the one I really take exception to. Please elaborate on what you mean, with examples.

darksouls2.wikidot.com/search:site/q/unknown origin

Tons of item descriptions are basically "it's old and forgotten shit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯", they apparently had to rewrite stuff for SotFS since the original descriptions were poorly done, dragons suddenly have souls, enemies are randomly placed or they didn't gave a shit to replace them after they redesigned the areas like the Grave Wardens in Earthen Peak and much more.

>combining helmets with other sets will leave you with an open neck seam
>you can't see your weapons during cutscene, you just stand awkwardly with fists clenched

Fuck dark souls 3

better than this

>90% of helms reveal neck seems or cover the neck so ddamn much they clip through your fucking shoulders
Fuck man

This is not the forest.

Better than this

It isn't
The post in that pic is retarded and so is the memer that posted the pic

>BB and DS3 are leagues above all the others. They're on a different level.

better than this?

A lot of instances of "more means harder therefore better" shit. Some different enemy types in locations that make more sense. I'd say it's a slight improvement but there's some bullshit.

DS2 is hideous but BB's aesthetic is tiring. There's only so much shit you can litter the streets with before it becomes an eyesore. The fact that it used mass graves in every single area didn't help matters either.

Lush, fertile forests with a running stream >>> Dead and boring forest with bare trees and gravestones

Why the fuck do the shots appear at a completely different angle?

no way man Dark Souls 2 is much better

Iron Keep is unplayable but everything else is better overall.

>Heides knights in Heides tower
>The headless dude's body right above the area you find his head in
>nimble shadows actually lurking in the shadows
>dragon right outside dragon rider arena

M8 the new placements make more sense

Listen I like ds2 and I admit the levels dont look great in some cases and it doesn't compare to BB, but taking a shitty low res picture of a wall does you no credit
>go in ds1 X area
>take picture of some rubble with nothing else near it
>woooow ds1 looks trash

People only hate DaS2 because it's the hardest souls games and DaS1 babbies couldn't cheese it as well lol

>setting graphics to low just for a screeny
heh

>We've put a dozen well-armored weeaboos in the keep, but the playtesters just want to run straight past them and fight the boss like you can do in literally every other area of the game, what do you think, boss?
>Fuck no, that's not Hard™ enough, put two archers who shoot greatarrows in front of the fog wall to make sure they have to kill fucking everything

Iron keep is on top of earthen peek
The zone with laval and volcanoes in the distance is on top of a windmill

Woah... it really took you some effort to make it look like shit, huh?

some weird bug or something? these guys always pull out swords when you get in melee range

>lush
>fertile

lmao™!

Not all of them have a sword.

DS2fans need to be fucking gassed. How the fuck does the game even fucking tie to Dark Souls 1? Its a different fucking game.

I really liked DaS 2's aesthetic. You can tell the game was originally headed by a lighting engineer. The vibrancy in most of the game's environments was a nice change from DaS 1's more grey palette.

>dark souls cycle

AHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA

Why the fuck do your images keep getting so fucking small?

So who had the best corrupted knight?

you mean 500k right?

How long until 3 is considered the best?

You people keep making these comparison threads every week. Its fucking tiring.

He's trying hard as fuck to make ds2 look bad. He could just post a normal screenshot and still prove his point but no he has to make himself look like a fuckin drooling tard

How do those statements connect in any way?

Nope.

He means 50k.

With the Agape ring you can lock your memory at 50k.

A lot of people do this and do the whole game to get all the good rings/weapons/armors so they can twink other people who are at 50k but are going normally trough the game.

Ahh....

What are you talking about? That's jusg the game's max settings.

Because DS2 doesnt fucking connect to the lore of DS1 and yoh faggots try to pass up this shit as a sequel. Its fucking not. It might as well be a spin off.

No, 50k. I immediately got the Agape Ring after beating Heides and Dual Sentinel. So I'm currently at low level at the Shulva Sanctum City

I assure you, though, I am no invader. Never had much an interest in invading in any souls game, I'd much rather be summoned or counter-invade

Ludwig was the most fun, but I liked Fume Knight's lore and weapons the most.

Please, you cant keep doing this, I dont have my glasses and my eyes are hurting real bad

When Dark Souls 4 you know they're gonna make it 5-10 from now and will be advertized as "the return to the series" and people will buy it
or the next souls like game from release.

Artorias, easy.
Cool within story as a failure turned legend by player's action and cool aggressive fight as well which weren't that plentiful in DaS.

>boneheaded decisions like adaptability

How would you have made iframe abuse not the clearly best defensive option at the start of the game?

better than this
