Is warrior LITERALLY the shittiest vocation?
Is warrior LITERALLY the shittiest vocation?
Seems like it might get boring after a while. Also for some reason assassin has better attack gain, and can use sword, shield, bow and daggers.
>the only class with only three skills to equip
It literally, unironically and objectively is.
You could argue that. I just like using large 2 handed swords. One of the highlights of my run of dragon's dogma was using Arc of deliverance to remove a whole health bar from that wild dragon near the fort.
Yoy can get attack +20% from it right? Thats worth spending a little bit of time for. And then never going back.
I thought warrior was fun, obliterating arc rapes everything after a few levels. Fuck those floating medals tho
Probably the most vocation for me, usually play the yellow ones. You don't know shit about dragon's dogma until you did a warrior run in BBI.
>mfw one-shotting charging boss monsters
Warrior's definitely underpowered and it's horseshit that they only get three skill slots but holy fuck it's fun to GATTSU your way through the game.
It's not even the worst part. It takes a fucking year to swing your sword for regular attacks or charge a skill. It's the epitome of high risk-low reward.
it's fun for a while if you snag gryphic victory as soon as you hit level 18
otherwise, not much
a sorcerer flinging three balls does more damage than a warrior swinging a giant fucking weapon, so yes
I wanted to make me and my pawn both warriors but then I remembered all the flying enemies and nigh invulnerable to physical damage mobs and I just lose the will to even try.
I was hoping that there would be mods to make warrior less shitty but the moment I heard it would be impossible to mod in 6 skills as a warrior I lost hope for it.
talk about a grind, then I made a min maxed magic archer and made grigori my bitch in under a minute
talk about boring.
>high risk-low reward
Warrior is the epitome of high risk-high reward, you literal nigger.
>when you get that AoD just right
>when you indomitable lunge'd out of a gorecyclop's club just right
the worst part is that you can't do shit against dragons
even as a magic archer I fucking hate dragons because they fly around way too much
it's just a stepping stone for something even better
>Playing warrior vs. the upgraded fire drake
>Asshole is just spamming meteors
>Get fed up with everything and go for Arc
>Breaths fire all over me
>Down to like 10 health
>But I'm still fucking charging
>Unleash the beast perfectly so that the main part of the hit lands on his heart
>Game has to pause for a good 5 seconds to do the math
>All of his health bars light up and he dies
>high reward
Any class other than mages (a support class) can deal way more damage than them without taking risks easily
>their mage hybrid counterpart can fuckall with auto aim ez with range, wich they have none of, regular swords are faster and they can also defend themselves
>their starting counterpart can both defend themselves and deal more damage in less time
>any (hybrid or pure) yellow class deals way more damage and their targets drop dead by the time these slow fucks holds up and swing their swords AND hits their target, not even talking about charged bullshit
>sorcerer pulling three fire/light balls from their sticks (not even talking about shit like maelstrom or other skills) can deal much more damage on a huge aoe from RANGE than a fucking swords special attacks made by something bigger themselves
Yeah pham lemme just charge my (1 out of 3) skill real quick so my fuck huge sword can deal less damage than a fucking knife.
I picked greatsword warrior on my first playthrough and finished the game with it. It was fun, especially that one super charged attack. What is the problem?
WAR falls off hard once you start doing the two post-game dungeons. It also has no ranged options and both post-game dungeons have a fair number of aerial enemies. Pawns can't be relied upon to deal with aerial enemies well, or even consistently.
What are you talking about? Get a high knockdown value and jump light attack their tail, they'll come crashing down in 1-2 hits
>mean while a Strider has brainsplittered it to death while you're charging your AoD and barely take 1/4 of its hp off
Also doesn't help that the final boss of BBI is primarily magic based.
And Warrior stat growths combined with their armor leaves them horribly vulnerable to magic.
But that's the pussy excuse.
Hit things with big sword if it makes you happy, because it makes me very happy.
holy fuck
can i do the same with drakes/wyrm?
>>Refuse to use pawns
>>Chuck OC pawn off a cliff
>>Go Black Swordsmaning through the kingdom alone
When you get to the point where soloing Bitterblack Isle is no problem, you need to start kind of inventing shit to do.
It's harder since you need to land clean hits on their weak point for the same level of damage, but possible in some cases.
Nah, the REAL problem with the final boss of BBI is that it's an airborne boss with a weakpoint that can't be hit by anyone without a ranged option unless you climb. Climbing leaves you wide open to nasty Grand Levin spam.
This.
I don't know what they were thinking.
Drakes are too damage spongey to one hit them.
If you increase your knockdown enough, you'll have them on the ground constantly though, they can't do shit against you
True. I had blocked that fact from my memory on my Warrior run.
So you get that nasty combination of horrid issues to contend with.
And my dumb ass not knowing about periapt stacking doing piss damage the entire fucking fight.
Its a fun class, but I don't recommend it for your first or second playthrough. Once you know the enemies, countering them with yoru big ass sword is fun and satisfying.
Warrior needs the extra 3 skill slots, otherwise it is the worst class in general.
There's a reason I switched from Warrior to Ranger. Arc of Obliteration may be satisfying as hell, but it's hard to top a perfectly timed Reaper's Arrow to a weak spot, or a barrage of Tenfold Flurry.
Now, that must have been satisfying.
i was that class with dual blades or whatever cause it seemed unique but ultimately sucked
Managing to land the final blow as an Arc after staggering Damion from his rift attack recovery was insanely satisfying at least.
It's like the one freebie given to warriors during the fight, since the stagger is not only a tad longer than the length of an Arc's charge, but also due to his position his little chest face is directly in the line of fire.
I still never got Arc of Obliteration, even after like 20 hours of play on the 360 version. Had about 15 of the fucking Mystick Knight, Fighter, and Assassin skill rings though.
is DDO good?I read somewhere that it's a downgraded version of DDDA
I like stabbing shit with a sword and shield instead
Too bad thats also shit
I fucking love it when the game stops
>what is jumping and springboard prawns and also ranged prawns
>I still never got Arc of Obliteration
It's probably better that way, sacrificing a ring slot is not worth it, dual barbed nails is too good
All cumbersome and unreliable at nest. Viable options, but don't expect great things from the AI.
>Get grabbed by Damion
>Ah shit I'm going to get slam jammed
>Hear "NONE MAY TOUCH THE ARISEN"
>Longbow shot thuds directly into Damion's hand and I'm free
>melee vocation
>no parry, dodge, relies on tanking in a game where tanking is absolutely not viable
Meanwhile Assassin gets parry, dodge, perfect block, AND outdamages every other melee vocation.
They didn't even bother to balance it. I mean I guess the downside is that you spend most of the game looking like a shitty canadian ninja, but all of the classes look like shit in Everfall/BBI gear anyway.
>outdamages every other melee vocation
Strider would like a word
Does that skill do bonus damage with certain conditions? I don't know this.
>no parry
act of vengeance, not viable though
>no dodge
exodus slash
>no perfect block
who cares if you can exodus slash through everything
git gud
More like Ranger.
It's all about hitting the right spot.
Land it on something like a cyclops leg and it's unimpressive.
Land it on the eye and you have a dead cyclops.
How would a ranger outdps strider in melee?
Act of Vengeance isn't a parry. Clairvoyance is a parry.
I think the hybrid vocations were a mistake considering how versatile they are. You barely need the other pawns, throwing out the party-balance. Basically people get spoiled by playing them and have no time appreciating something like this because it just doesn't happen, the problem is already solved by the overpowerd skills of the hybrid classes.
My favorte pawn was my ranger pawn that helped me a lot when playing warrior. I learned a lot about what pawns are actually capable of.
>Pawn Training
I like Mystic Knight
>wanted Mercedes
>got Serena
It knows.
You hemorrhage pawns in Matt Daimon's Funhouse Gauntlet v2 anyway.
I guess you're right. AoV is so shit though, i don't know why they even added it to the game
>losing pawns
>ever
That cannon spell combined with the mage doing the black cloud is the funnest thing I've ever done in a video game. How sad..
Me too.
I like the no restrictions mod better tho.
>letting pawns die
>letting them return to their masters with average stars instead of an appropriate rating
>not arc of fuck him out of the attack or pummel him to death
I have no face for that.
>gave my pawn that ability hoping it would launch me
>never used it and just took up a skill space
>oh... o-ok you too
Fuck that, nigga, I got gear to grind and if your pawn gets oneshot while I'm sprinting to the exits then enjoy your average rating because I'm not going back.
Step up or shut up, level 3 BBI gear doesn't earn itself.
I had zero problems smacking him in both his faces as a warrior with jumping attacks. Though a lot of that is because warrior's jumping attack goes vertically down, meaning it has even higher range than it really seems. Honestly probably the easiest melee vocation I used on him. It is lame that the most effective thing to do at the final boss is still just spamming jump attacks, but such is the life of Warrior.
Sorcerer has the same problem, where all your 10 second cast spells are useless late-game, and that staff charge bolt you learned first thing in the game ends up shredding everything while taking half a second to charge and you can run and jump around freely while doing it.
>hiring pawns when speed-running daimon for loot
You don't deserve good pawns. Play solo.
>DIREGOUGEDIREGOUGEDIREGOUGEDIREGOUGE true reset cancel into climb to avoid grab DIREGOUGEDIREGOUGEDIREGOUGE
Hey remember that glitch where if you spammed Dire Gouge against the Ur-Dragon the damage wouldn't register because it was over the threshold for what the game considered cheating?
Thinking about this, it could also be related to how tall you make your character. My warrior can hit his upper face with jumping attacks, but I bet loli warriors can't.
Sending pawns away with gifts takes too much time so I just brine them.
>glitch
It's a legitimate thing, not a glitch, and it's still in the game. Was necessary for the PC release, too.
It's a dumb design decision is what it is.
