Hollow Knight

new thread

>what is it
a quality metroidvania with a shitton of content
>torrent where
check rarbg
>should I buy the key at the vendor
no, save up and buy the lantern instead

These threads are comfy and I like them.

>Still using that Shilly General-esque OP
Whatever.
>2/3 of the Spell upgrades
>Still haven't cleared any of the 3 major Spirits
>Just sorta mapping out and figuring, gonna go back to that really depressing area that can be accessed from the Tram in Deepnest next
I'm having fun.

Just beat 2nd boss. Loving it so far. The background art and parrallax is great. Everything else seems good, but the rich backgrounds just do it for me.

>Stuck on one boss for over an hour now.
>Could go explore several other directions, but I'm invested in this fucker's demise by now.

where do I get double jump?

I don't like how this thread title encourages you to pirate it. It's $15 for fucks sake.

>encourages
Kek.
I bought it and if people would prefer to "try before they buy" or just "I wan' for free," let them. I'm not gonna provide a link, but there's nothing wrong with it. This is Sup Forums, not Reddit.

Just found out I can give the delicate flower to Elderbug instead of bringing it to the Queen's Garden
What should I do?

>What is steam refunds?

After you get the air dash, wall jump, projectile attack, other projectile attack, charge attack, and ground stomp.

Is this coming on Switch? I think I will wait as it seems like an amazing game

2 hours is definitely too little to judge this game. ~4 if you actively explore is a little closer to being able to judge this game whether you like it or not.
So if you are too tight-handed on your wallet, I'd definitely say go pirate if unsure. Shit's cash.
Elderbug. I wanna know what happens now.

I need something to take my mind off of shitty life happenings, but I already played Ori. How good is this game compared to it?

If it turns out to be shit, I blame it on you

I hate the map mechanics

by that I mean:
>not starting with a map
>can't see where you are on map until you equip a item for it
>need to go to save point to update map
>need to buy UI elements for the map

fuck that shit

aside from that, it's good but I also hate the color palette, everything is fucking blue

already have all of those, that's why I'm asking

yes but development hasnt started, unity needs updated tools

IMHO, it blows Ori out of the water entirely to the point of no comparison possible.

He just thanked me
wew

I might wait a bit on this, it has the feel of a game I want to play on the go.

does doing this lock you out of something?

The fucking raining castle place is getting me so fucking mad, fuck those teleporting blob motherfuckers

>everything is fucking blue
Greenpath isn't.

Also,
>They spoil Broken Shell in the trading Cards
That's just disappointing. You could've easily put Elderbug on there instead.
>Check Market to see the emotes and shit
>None of them on the Market
Huh.

How long is the game?

oh fuck yeah
>accept
what did I just fucking do

I just checked and I can still get another flower from the lady
So it's all good

what is this flashgame shit?

triggered

Ancient Basin.

So, I am now stuck hovering in the air, unable to move anywhere, with the drop from the boss fight just out of reach.

I also have no fucking idea where I am because no map guy, so restarting the game and coming back from the seat is going to be interesting.

~30 hours

My hate for this boss fight knows no bounds. I've given up and decided to come back later with a better nail.

Same thing happened to me, just quit and reload. You'll be at the bench but the boss will be dead the item will still be there.

Holy shit. I need this.

you're fucked, known bug, just hope it saved you killing the boss and you can come back and get the thing

there is shit even worse like hipsters in the woods

I have only the first nail upgrade but I'm using the mantis range and faster swing badges
once you KO him you can get like 4 or 5 hits easily or take the time to heal 1-2 points instead

as for the floaty bug, dont use menus with enemies nearby, causes it all the time

>faster swing

Where'd you find that?

If you get the storeroom key from the crystal mine area and bring it back to the shopkeeper it unlocks other shit to buy from him, that's one of the new badges he sells.

Not him, but the only Badge he was selling after I opened up his storeroom was the one that knocked enemies back farther.

err, shit, maybe I mixed them up
I might have gotten the swing speed one in kingdom's edge or something

What do you mean user? The game throws at you shit load of money I already have everything I need for the map and im only 4 hours in. Also no not everything is blue

Don't think i can buy a game from these faggots.

>buying games from these (((developers)))

How the fuck do you have some much money?

Ever since passing the grasslands i feel starved for it and grinding out dudes doesnt seem worth it

>How the fuck do you have some much money?

Not him but i had +5k by doing nothing but exploring the map and bosses. Or if you really need just use cheat engine

I'm 13 hours in, you just get tons since most of your time is exploring and just killing stuff in your way
most things don't cost more than like 800 after you get the lantern

Ori is a fucking nothing compared to this game as far as gameplay goes. At this point i would've finished Ori twice and i'm still not done with HK.

This game has some serious Souls influence.

love it

The wall jumping feels so natural, I can't believe I went 7 hours without it.

It's fine. If you don't say that, you get "torrent where?" posts, which is annoying. Same reason I always make sure to put sauce in the title when I post porn. If people want to buy the game, they'll know to just look on Steam.

Oh shit, I just returned to a certain place and now everything's covered in orange explodey shit. The egg temple's glowing with it.

Why not? They look like nerds, which is how developers have always looked.

what's the quickest way to queen's garden from the graveyard? Use the tram to crossroads, then walk through greenpath, then through fog canyon?

I don't even think I've explored fog canyon yet, I really wish I hadn't taken this impossible quest.

It does it in a really interesting way.
>Instead of losing HP on death, you lose 1/3 of your active magic/heal pool and all your money
>If you fuck up big time, you can go back to Dirtmouth and use the Regret Bug to fish out your Spirit without diving into the fray at the cost of (1) Rancid Egg and there's like 6-10 of those

Never mind, I got jumped by a bush and now I lost it. I'm kind of glad actually, fuck this.

>I don't even think I've explored Fog Canyon yet
Just don't slash any big Jellies and you'll be fine.

I just got the dark dash from the Abyss

Can I get past those dark walls now?

I'm not even talking about the death mechanic.

The NPCs how you meet them, how the game is presented to you etc.

Honestly wondering what the speedrun potential of this game is

>Honestly wondering what the speedrun potential of this game is

You can finish the game under 5 hours

>how do you know that?

There is a achi for finishing the game under 5 hours

Do the fragile shells you get from the mushroom vendor break if you die with them equipped, or if you die at all?

>Metroidvania
I'd had been baited by this shit by a lot of indies. Is it actually good?

Am I the only one having stutering problems? It happens quite frequently and it causes dropped inputs.

Also, is it by design that my character instantaneously loses forward momentum when I stop pressing the direction I was jumping in?

the characters are pretty charming, like pic releated is a cutie

It is one of the best indie Metroidvanias. If you like the genre then get this, it's a steal at $15.

I honestly think it's better than SotN

Aerial movement has no momentum, that's not a glitch or anything. I got used to it pretty fast.

Seems to be a common problem.

>Am I the only one having stutering problems?
Game runs in +200fps for me, however it does sometimes freezes for like half a second in some areas

the stuttering is a known issue and they've said they plan on patching it hopefully soon
there's no aerial momentum in this game due to how precise platforming gets later on
think of it like castevania movement rather than la mulana

Sage words.

so I finally got the lamp

what are some dark areas (not the main big dark area)

so far i've done stone sanctuary, about to go to howling cliffs, and there's one in crossroads too. am i missing any?

It's really, really fucking good.
Definitively the best indie metroidvania.

There's entire areas you'll need it for later.

The jump physics are pretty common among metroidvanias

yeah I know of that one, nowhere near that part of the game yet, just checking if there are other small dark areas like the 3 i posted

Shouldn't have colored the photos and these would have been fine.

The game's very good though, only serious problem is having to find the map guy.

>everyone on Mantis territory stops being hostile when you defeat their Lords

>when you realize shilling in Sup Forums is not a meme, but real.

Holy fuck

>mfw

Where are the "ancient places" that I can open with the King's Brand?
How to get into the hive?
What's up with the corpse in the east side of Ancient Basin that emanates dream symbols yet cannot be absorbed?

>How to get into the hive?

Take the tram.

Equipped.

that wasn't my intention, I just put it there because it gets asked in nearly every thread

>there's like 30 bosses and most of them are optional
this game is fuckin gr8

>everything is fucking blue
so you're saying you played for 10 minutes died and lost your corpse because you have the memory of a goldfish?

You can still murder them.

>hollow vessel suddenly has symbols emanating from it like I can use dream nail on it
DARE I

Dies the game recycle enemies?

it has 149 unique enemies

no

No reskins with different attacks?

Technically, there are a few enemies with similar abilities.
>In the first area, there are 2 types of really basic enemies, brown ones go back and forth on their platform while white ones will crawl along walls as well, usually relegated to platforms and they go across the top, sides, and bottom
>Basic Bug and Bug Bully look almost identical, one is slightly bigger, one uses little short charges while one just flails at you

doet

I wouldn't say none, but it's not prevalent.

>mfw Infected Crossroads

Doesn't sound bad, buying now.

How do I get to these two bitches?

>One-eye
There's a discolored area in City of Tears on the zoomed in map. Right after the Hollow Statue. That's the Tower's base.

If you can swim in acid then you can get to the left one from the northern part of the fungal wastes near the bench. Go down from the Crossroads.
