if people want JRPGs and exclusives they buy a PS4
if people want Zelda and Mario they buy a Switch
What's the point of Xbox Scorpio?
Best multiplat performance on a console and games that cater to western audiences that aren't available on PS4, Steam, or Switch
stop making this thread you loner
>PS4, Steam, or Switch
So what, Gears, Forza, and Halo? All games with competition that matches or surpasses them save for Forza but really how much appeal do racing games have these days?
What else do they even have?
Saints Row out did Crackdown years ago and that game might be on the chopping block for all we know.
Sea of Thieves looks like hot garbage and....what else do they have?
Xbox at this point is basically just a Madden / Halo box for Chad. Oh and kinect stuff for the kiddies.
So basically a Windows 10 Store box?
Cuphead, State of Decay 2, Killer Instinct, Crackdown 3, you didn't mention the Halo Wars subseries, or Forza Horizon. Phantom Dust is weebshit
Crackdown 3 is gonna make a showing at E3 this year, it's set to launch alongside Scorpio.
it's mainly a multiplat box as he already stated. only some colossal retard will spend $400 to play 2 exclusives every year on a console.
There has never been a point to xbox. Consistently worse than sony and nintendo
>Nintendo doesn't have exclusives
But that's literally all they have you retard
>sea of thieves looks like garbage
Shut it down everyone, it's just another troll thread.
>Crackdown 3
Also on PC.
Fanboys will defend it.
"Xbox don't have exclusives it just has the best online and players"
I can't think of any reason why it should exist other than a FIFA, Call of Duty, Halo, and Madden box.
xbox utterly trashed the ps3 from multiplats and first party games to the actual operating system up until 2011 and 2 years before the new gen. even then the operating system is still shit and has crappy functionality after 2011.
t. 2 time phat ps3 owner and 1 time ps3 slim owner
Okay. So which console gets Halo Wars 2?
They have 2-3 exclusives. PS4 has over 110 PS4 exclusive + 300 of console exclusive
Only on Windows 10 through the Windows 10 store, tho.
Pc
PC isn't a console. Try again.
People bought it for Halo (a game), Gears and Forza
I think releasing Scorpio in 2017 is a mistake. 3 and half years since the release of a $500 machine which was supposed to be the follow up to the 360.
PS4pro proved that big titles struggle to run even in 1440p/30fps, let alone 4K.
Scorpio will end up as a expensive PS4pro with Halo and Gears of War*
*also on Windows 10
>the only multiplats to have ever existed are cod and fifa
can't tell if trolling or legit stupid. i bet you think everyone who buys a pc only plays cs go and dota and that nobody has ever played any other game ever because of the popularity of a select few games.
Xbox 360 will be remembered as one of the best gaming systems around and the Xbox One will be remembered as one of the worst.
>its a multiplat box
But its not. Niether is PC. See this is the real mistake a lot of anons here make. When you look at the games on PS4 and say "but those are multiplats" you are not really making a case for PC or Xbox.
The average consumer wants to play games and affordably. That is why people ARE buying the PS4 in large numbers. It offers everything most people need. Exclusives and multiplats.
>BUT WHY IS THE PS4 SELLING?! DONT THOSE IDIOTS KNOW THE COULD PLAY ALL THOSE MULTIPLATS ON PC AT THE SAME SPEC AS A PS4 FOR ONLY A FEW HUNDRED $ MORE?!!
...
so you're saying that sonyponys are all just too lazy/poor/stupid to make a decent pc?
that makes sense, thanks for clearing it up
360 is good but not the best. After 2008 the games on both ps3 and 360 started to be repetitive and dull
no. the ps4 sells because of it's multiplat advantages. even if it had shit exclusives it would still sell because it's simply better than the xbox at multiplats (which 99.9% of casuals buying a console plays).
I agree with you completely.
I'm a lazy console gamer.
I just want a box to play the newest games.
I like the games the Xbox plays that the PS4 doesn't more than I like the games the PS4 plays that the Xbox doesn't.
But why would you ever buy an Xbox if you had a capable PC? The windows store is total garbage, but not shell out 500+ on a console to avoid it garbage.
>what console is this 7/10 non exclusive game on
>This somehow justifies a trash console
Kek
test
Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were repetitive and dull?
The average consumer yea user. To some varrying degree, people will decide where they are willing to go in order to play vidya.
How is this rocket science to you? Are you also one of those who go into those shit PS4 sells a billion trillion going "BUT I DUNT UNDERTAND."
My PC isn't gaming capable, but I'm not replacing it until it breaks.
>If people want Halo/Gears/Forza...
Well that and the not shitting up the E3 reveal. Its a bunch of things.
Also remember how 360 actually DID play multiplats better than PS3 but in the end PS3 blew the 360 the fuck out anyway?
The scorpio fucking pointless because the XBONE has a even worse lineup than PS4.
>Demon's Souls
It was a bad game overall. Dark Souls was decent but not something you would buy a console for.
you wouldn't buy a scorpio if you had a capable pc. even spencer himself has said this and sony themselves also said this when they said they want to capture the market of people who want to build those capable pc's before they actually buy the parts. they want your investment instead because they'll lose a console sale because of that. MS aren't too bothered by it because they make money either way because you're either buying the game on an xbox or for the same price on the pc.
it matters much less to MS than it does for sony. kudos for MS for offering us the scorpio though. they could have just sold us the xbox one slim and then told everyone who wanted better performance/res to upgrade their pc and play it on that instead. we have a middle option now. the more variety the better in the case of us consumers.
My nigga
But much better specs while having backwards compatibility.
It's a better console.
>People want exclusives they buy a PS4
except it didn't. they both finished neck and neck with the xbox having the higher attachment rate of games per console. the fact the xbox was only popular in like 3 countries globally compared to the ps3 being popular literally everywhere and STILL managed to match the sales of the ps3 is a great feat.
the xbox only sold in the far west being UK and US and mexico. the ps3 sold in mainland/eastern europe, asia, middle east etc.
>Also remember how 360 actually DID play multiplats better than PS3 but in the end PS3 blew the 360 the fuck out anyway?
Sony released some decent first/second party titles while Microsoft stopped in 2007 with the release of Halo 3. Also in 2010 don Mattrick went full Wii mode and basically made everyone lose their interest in the xbox 360.
PS3 started to sell really fast when because Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Metal Gear 4 and the Last of Us.
As you can see the only game that came out before 2009 was Metal Gear 4.
Also it was during 2009-10 they released and promoted the slim with a price cut
Multiplats too judging by the sales.
3rd Party devs are also hopping onto Play Anywhere, so if you decide to ditch an Xbox for a PC down the line, you've got all your saves, games, and dlc.
sorry, i don't talk to poor people.
I just got a Bone from Gamestops tax refund sale thing. Going to trade the game towards a Switch (trade it now to get max credit, but who knows when the Switch will have 5 games) since I have it on PC and I can use it on Bone via Play Anywhere.
Really nice console. Incredible controller. The HDR actually makes me appreciate my 4k television. I don't have a PS4 Pro so I can't compare it to the HDR on that, but its nice. In fact, I don't know how much better my PC looks, if at all (GTX 1060/i5/16GB) at least from a distance.
Exclusives are a concern, but I found 5 games I want to play on it, and thats my magic number. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't bail out of Crackdown 3 like they did scalebound.
Granted, it was last updated November, but people are playing multiplats on PS4 that would run better on PC anyways.
>I just wasted 299 dollars in a console that I will have to play Horizon 3 and Gears for the next 2 years
You are really smart user.
yeah play anywhere is really nice to have.
i don't understand the retarded fanboys who say that play anywhere is just marketing to sell xbox's or something. they don't realize that MS are actually losing sales with this because it's basically 2 for the price of 1. they'd be losing that extra profit from a second software sale if you decide to move from xbox to pc or if you decide to buy an xbox for a blu ray player or something.
Thanks to normal fags who play their Fifa and CoD PS4 has the best library of games even though the best titles sell less than 1m copies.
Enjoy PC's continued multiplat support user.
From a business perspective play anywhere is microsoft saying they don't know how to save the Xbox brand and are desperate for any cash they can get
>multiplats on PS4 that would run better on PC anyways
You say "anyways" like the idea of getting a decent PC is not daunting to the average consumer when they wpuld need to pay more for it anyway.
Thigs like Pic related don't help either. You show videos of stuff like this to people and they just tell you "it all looks the same"
I see it more as a "Hey Devs, please use UWP so you can easily tweak games for Scorpio"
Playing on pc just isn't as much fun as on a console.
from a business perspective it's MS introducing the consumer to the unification of windows and the xbox platform. it's a necessary step they have to take to make it work in the future. MS aren't hard strapped for cash that they need to force sales. they could be outsold by the ps4 3:1 and still not be worried about money and sales as long as they hit their targets (which they already have as the x1 is outselling the 360). sony on the other hand absolutely require playstation to keep bringing in the profits as it's their most profitable division right now.
Devs still need to patch their games all over again and it won't be as easy as it is for PS4pro
The reason is that PS4 GPU is identical to the PS4. It's two PS4 gpus.
Scorpio will be a total different design and only first party titles will receive 4K treatment
>it's a necessary step they have to take to make it work in the future
because without it the Xbox will be the next Dreamcast.
$250, but it came with a $50 gift card, so I'm saying $200, even if that isn't "true", plus, like I said, I'm jettisoning Gears of War 4, so add another $20 or so.
And Rare Replay, Sunset Overdrive, the two Halo games as well if we are counting exclusives. 4k Blu ray support (not even PS4 Pro has this) is a nice bonus, even if I only have 1 (and do you need any others?).
Backward compatibility and that magnificient controller is a huge draw. I haven't tested every game yet but they seem to be pretty close. Once they add in Vanquish and Asura's Wrath my whole library will be backward compatible, and I hope they do.
I don't feel I made a mistake, but maybe the buyers remorse isn't here yet.
If you were in charge of Xbox what would you do?
Buy out Square Enix. That about solves your Japanese problem, and possibly the European one as well.
You might be merely practical joking user, but i tell ya...
When RE VII came out, i bought the disc for PS4. Put it in, and within 6 minutes it had fully installed. Played the game with zero fucking issue.
Went to Sup Forums later that day and found entire threads full of PC users trying to figure out how to stop the game from crashing 30 minutes in, asking each other why thiers looked so shit, and posting screen shots of brick walls that looled just like my PS4 version.
Being PC must be fucking hell sometimes.
Any UWP title is gonna be pulling from the PC version for Scorpio.
It's up to devs to tweak it how they want.
It still won't be much harder than updating the res on PS4 Pro on non-UWP games.
Buy Konami
I would put more money into exclusives and different types of video games, get some studios to make some new shit. Accept that Halo and those other flagship ips are either at the end of their life or already dead. They need to do something more if they want to be on top again and turning out a super powerful and expensive console isn't it.
4K ... do you watch movies or something? last blu ray I watched was Rambo 2 Uncut in 2008 or 2009 I don't remember exactly.
I almost bought a Xbox one in 2015. At the last minute I dropped.
t. uneducated
1. porting from pc > xbox > scorpio is way easier for devs to do than porting to playstation. pc and xbox all utilize the same api being direct3d whereas playstation utilizes its own api being gnm and gnmx. with the way uwp is being designed, anything that works on windows 10 uwp pc would automatically work on the xbox or on a surface tab with very little tweaking. MS actually showed off a year back some devs who made an indie game on the pc for uwp and that it took them literally like an hour to port it to xbox with the tools provided when you make a uwp app. it is factually easier for devs to port to scorpio than it is for the ps4 pro, because the scorpio, xbox and pc versions are virtually identical with just interface differences. it takes more work to port to the ps4 and then again to the pro.
2. the pro doesn't have "two ps4 gpus". it is using a whole different architecture. the "wings of a butterfly" quote that sony engineer said doesn't mean there's 2 ps4 gpus in sli. it means they activate a certain amount of CU when playing a base ps4 game and downclock the cpu to ps4 levels. when the game is running a pro optimized patch or when boost mode is activated the remaining CU is used.
I'm not an expert on this but clearly there is a problem in this play anywhere. In theory it works great...
ReCore and Forza are perfect example. ReCore runs great in a fucking 2008 GPU but in 25fps on Xbox One. Forza runs worse on most PCs than on Xbox One.
That's more of a Dev issue. Gears 4 is hot butter on both.
PC/Consoles aren't worth it post 2010, PC was an amazing as fuck experience in the 90's though, early 200's too.
>gpus in sli.
I know that, but it's literally a second PS4 gpu.
PS4Pro runs unpatched games only with 50% of GPU working what you mean they are not identical?
>We just turn off half the GPU and run it at something quite close to the original GPU
no it's not literally a second ps4 gpu. if it was a second gpu it would be an sli/xfire configuration. there is a SINGLE gpu in the ps4.
the gpu in the pro is a polaris based gpu which is different to the og ps4 which had a pitcairn based gpu. when they said they turn off half the gpu they literally mean they turn off half of the SINGLE gpu inside the ps4 pro. this doesn't mean there are 2 and that they turn one off like you're trying to claim when you say "but it's literally a second PS4 gpu."
think of it like a car with a v8 engine. there is a single v8 engine in there and not 2 side by side. when the pro is in base mode it runs with only 4 of those pistons whereas when it is in boost mode or using a pro patched game it utilizes all 8 of those pistons. the reasoning behind this is because games might have issues when using the extra hardware power e.g. physics might fuck up because of how the devs have specifically tailored their game towards a certain hardware spec or framerate. you need to understand that devs find little shortcuts as they learn the ins and outs of a console hence why games look way nicer now on the ps4/x1 than they did at the start of the gen because of these devs learning shortcuts of extracting the best from the hardware. changing the hardware can cause issues which is why sony initially only allowed ps4 base games to run with the cpu and gpu downclocked on the pro. only recently have they been able to create the boost mode software which can take full advantage of the hardware but even then the boost mode has a warning about it potentially causing issues.
I see, the reason for the confusion is that i said literally like saying it's two GPUs but what I meant is that it's twice the same GPU on the same die.
Isn't this correct?
Since developers take only 1-2 weeks to patch a PS4pro game isn't correct to say they are just pretending is a PS4 with more power? like they don't have to change the code of the game
How will Scorpio do boost mode if it's a new architecture?
Being able to play close-to-true 4k games on a 4k screen without having to pay $1500 on a PC.
I'd rather 900p/60fps than 4K/30fps though
Developers are always lazy and they will end up releasing 1440p games with variable frame rate
This is the only intelligent comment I've seen here in the last couple of weeks.
While you typed that useless shitpost, Sony sold a couple more consoles. The domination is so strong you people look pathetic.
Halo 6 and Gears, best performance, may get PC games that too much for other consoles.
>Isn't this correct?
no. the gpu is totally different in the pro.
>Since developers take only 1-2 weeks to patch a PS4pro game isn't correct to say they are just pretending is a PS4 with more power? like they don't have to change the code of the game
the ps4 and ps4 pro both utilize the same api just like how i explained the pc and xbox also utilize the same api. if they have a base ps4 build of a game then it will pretty much automatically work on the pro because of how the api is designed. the only tweaks they'll have to do between the base ps4 and pro version is like boosting res and other in-game features like AA, AO, texture filtering etc
>How will Scorpio do boost mode if it's a new architecture?
its the same as how i explained it above with the pro, just easier. asking this question is like asking "how will this game work on my pc if i upgrade my gpu". it works pretty much the same. games aren't made for specific hardware configurations anymore otherwise it would only work on one type of pc like old games in the ~80's. games work on thousands of hardware configurations thanks to the help of the api (mainly dx11 now). the api like a middleman between the game and the hardware. this is not just with games but even phone apps and similar. there are hundreds of different android phones with different hardware and configurations and screen resolutions but the api is what allows all those different phones to run the same app.
Probably naturally. Without any patches, the Xbox One S saw frame rate and stability gains just from it's extra 7% power.
>Sea of Thieves looks like hot garbage
Kill yourself
You might as well say it's on Xbox only since no one will buy it on Windows 10.
That's the thing. PS4Pro even with the same GPU without any patch don't automatically run things better.
In some cases even worse. In other cases exactly the same. Scorpio is not just upgrading your GPU.
I don't really think the Xbox ports will run better on Scorpio without any patch and the reason I think patches will take more time is because it's like porting the game all over again.
Xbox One S runs some games slightly better because it's indeed the same GPU with extra power
>PS4Pro even with the same GPU without any patch don't automatically run things better.
this is a lie. digital foundry have tested ps4 pro with boost mode (i.e. with the full cpu and gpu power unlocked for games) and those games run better than the base ps4 99% of the time. the scorpio will be the same with it's own boost mode.
Boost mode is only available through a system patch that's currently in beta.
Out of the box, it's still not running games not optimized for the PS4 Pro better than the base hardware.
because the gpu and cpu are downclocked and many of the CU in the gpu aren't being utilized. as i explained before they did this for compatibility reasons so games don't break when played on the ps4 pro.
What's happening here? boost mode off? still this shouldn't happen
which game is this? if i know the game i can tell you why this might be occurring.
>which game is this?
Where were you during the past 6 months?
More performance than a 1080ti for half the price.
Better question is why do people on fucking PCs.
Seriously, what game is this?
Nier Aushowaifmata
>get into the PS4 Pro beta
>I don't have a PS4 Pro
thanks dude!!
>Where were you during the past 6 months?
i don't watch every pro video as i'm not all that interested in it. i watched the 3 boost mode comparison videos they put out and the conclusion was that boost mode was a big benefit up to 15 fps sometimes.
Why is Sony so fucking incompetent?
That is some fucking bullshit.
If you release a console with stronger hardware it should run games better from the get-go. Period.
Boost mode is a really huge benefit indeed
I almost bought a PS4 pro but I ended up buying the slim because with 100 dollars extra I could buy more games.
I ended up buying 3 great games and 1 not so good.
The thing is: it's going to be a nightmare for Microsoft. All those angry american kids asking them to release patches for Scorpio to fix and improve their games.
