The Sticker Star thing isn't a good point to bring up as BoTW's equipment degrading is quite similar to sticker usage in Sticker Star. There is very little incentive to fight things as your weapons will just degraded. You can get better drops in shrines.
It's a fucking Zelda game dumbass not a stats RPG. You could always avoid enemies in every zelda game, unless required by a puzzle.

yes but this time you can do a bunch of TECHNOLOGY things like cooking or setting fire to stuff that ultimately contributes nothing to the overall gameplay aside from 30 minutes of distractions from the novelty of seeing these features that have been in games for decades finally being incorporated into Zelda. Everything is better when Zelda does it.
I don't give a shit if music in story bits is "epic". It's an open world game. 60% or more of it is going to be running from place to place with no combat. It's inexcusable to have no music during the downtime\travel time. Even fucking Skyrim has a light score going on the background while fuck around picking flowers and catching butterflies.
